World Wish Day.

Quite an appropriate day today as a couple of my wishes may come true! I phoned the sewing machine shop and the owner said that as far as he knew the machine should be with me by mid May which was the last news I had. He said I am to of the list as I have been waiting the longest! He will let me know when it arrives and will send details fo dispatch and tracking. I write a lot of letters, a long time ago I had a bureau for a while in Peterborough, I bought an upright writing cabinet but it hasn’t been successful as it creaks a lot and is not really stable. So for a while now I have been looking at Davenports, usually well out of my price range but it has become a bit of an obsession. I looked at the auction in Scarborough for this week, none in this week, so decided to just look up Davenports on line.one came up on eBay, very reasonable price and collection only, wait for it, from Scarborough! Tina is collecting her new car in Scarborough next week so hopefully the sale will go through and it will be coming home next week.

Tina was meeting a friend in Beverley today so Darren took me to Bridlington, quite a get about week! He was going to his gaming shop and I was gong to a material shop to get what I needed to finish the lap quilt. A fabulous little material shop and she had a sale on the fabric. She also had the batting so I got material, batting and thread. Just need to get busy assembling it now.

The traffic was terrible getting into Bridlington and the car park was pretty full by the harbour. But the town didn’t seem too over crowded. We had a some chips and a cuppa at a chippie that had some seats outside. Took a shot of the town from there.

The three of us finished off the jigsaw puzzle, a real fun one to do.

I have been clearing the upright writing desk and I will send it to an auction along with some other pieces of furniture to be decided on. Time to make some space so a continuation of my sorting. Tina has a couple of things to put in the auction as well, so well will make it worth getting them all there.

It has been a chilly wind today, but we did get a little rain. There was hail on the lawn when I went out to feed the birds this morning and it wasn’t melting!

Bus to Hull,

Not a long entry today but a few nice photos of the fountain in Hull. I did some chores before going out,  long time since I got on to the bus to head into Hull. Quite an enjoyable and interesting journey in. I have a reputation for having random people start talking to me anywhere, anytime, had one yesterday a today a man sitting near me started emptying his rucksack and showing me all his bargains from the charity shop! We had a lady bus driver who had to do two emergency stops today which woke a few people up! On the journey we go along a road called Dancing Lane, I would love to live in a road called Dancing Lane and it always makes me smile when I see the sign. It was sad as we approached the town centre to see a lot of shops with the shutters up.

My main reason for going to town was to visit the sewing shop as the quilt I started needs to be finished whether I get the new machine or not. I eventually found the right road and the shop was closed! But I enjoyed getting into the city centre, had some lunch and then went across to the fountain, the flower beds around it were stunning and the sun had come out to show them at their best. I will post a few shots.

One more picture, the bus home stopped by the water and there was graffiti along the walls.

This afternoon I have been doing some sorting, it is never ending! Then after tea I watered the back garden.

Oh for a small garden!

Today is Morse Code day, I wonder how many people actually know Morse Code now?

The promised rain really didn’t arrive, it drizzled enough to make the path wet for about five minutes, so not much use to the plants!

This morning I cleared up from yesterday and then Darren helped me do a bit more to the jigsaw, it is coming along pretty well.

Tina was out for lunch today so Darren took me up to Freeport to look at the shops and then we had a toasted sandwich. I had a voucher for The Works and it was just the right amount for a really nice new jigsaw board. My old one is well used and falling apart now and I got two 1000 piece jigsaws for my birthday.

I also bought a new pair of slip on sandals from Pavers, they are similar to a pair I really like but are getting a bit tatty now,

Although it was quite chilly I did go round to visit Lesley and had a cup of tea with her in the garden. Her garden is just a perfect size, well established and natural and very small!

A dream garden methinks!

I did do a second session of the exercises so am hoping that will not mean another painful night when my knees rebel!

Have written some notes and have enjoyed the jewellery program again.

May try and be a bit more active tomorrow!

Happy birthday to me!

Three quarters of a century, wow, not feeling that old!

I was up early and went out to post a couple of things for Tina before I fed the birds. Not that busy out there before seven!

The ducks weren’t around when I fed the birds but they did appear a bit later. They were wandering off by the time I grabbed the camera and it was taken through the window.

Jackie came round just after nine for a cuppa in the garden and bought me a card and some coasters. Good to catch up with her. Before I went out a deliver came from Anya and family, a lovely foliage plant called a Peacock plant.

Sarah and David called for me at 10.30am and we had a nice drive to a farm and restaurant where we had lunch. It was a bit chilly sitting outside as the wind had a real bite to it but we had a lovely meal. We called at a garden centre on the way back as David and Sarah wanted to look at garden benches.

Darren and I did the jigsaw puzzle for a while and then we went to meet Tina at Mr Moo’s where we had an ice cream.

Another delivery, this time flowers from Rachel and family.

We went off to the sea front for fish and chips. Very quiet down there as it was pretty cold! We did sit at a bench though and enjoyed them.

Had to cut the cake when we got home!

It is in a container now to stop Blue getting her claws into it!

I have had lots of messages and some visitors and it has been a lovely day, some of my gifts including the adorable, cuddly sea otter!

Red Hat Society Day

I should read the calendar in advance, could have worn my red hat today!

This morning we set off for the boot sale, the car park was already pretty full by 8am. A great number of sellers, the field was full. I didn’t buy anything cluttery but did get some bargains. I have been thinking about getting a shooting stick for quite a while, but they are quite expensive. Today I found one for seven pound. I also got a small slow cooker for £1, an address book with a pen for 50p, and a bird feeder complete with mealworms for £1.50. So sensible and useful buys.

I used the shooting stick while Darren checked out the last couple of rows. I had a bit of trouble balancing at first but soon got the hang of it. Took a picture when I was sitting.

This afternoon I did a bit to the puzzle and then had an hour in the summer house where I managed to get some wildlife pictures.

The new feeder has already had a visitor.

A fun wind chime!

I went to the shops early as usual and Island Gifts was already open.and he had a selection of wind chimes hanging outside. Just one with a duck that moves its head, I had to have it , such fun.

I have some pain today in both knees, I think the exercise session yesterday has really exercised my lazy muscles! But I decided to go and do some gardening, tidying up an area near the wall. 

It was bone dry and I just hoed off the weeds and a lot of the plants were honesty but they had to go as well, I worked for. While before lunch and a fine afterwards.

I got the animal ornaments out of storage and put them back by the rockery.

And put the metal cow by a clump of honesty!

I watched a film about Audrey Hepburn this afternoon, very interesting, not a story but about her life.

After dinner I watered the back garden, the wind was really cold this evening. Then I went round to the church to help Tina set up for her service tomorrow.

Hopefully off to the boot sale in the morning.
