Having read and enjoyed The Lady in the Van by Alan Bennett I ordered some more books by him from the library. I have started The Uncommon Reader and I am really enjoying it, it is quit a short book and I will probably finish it tomorrow.
I have a hollyhock in a container, it needs a lot of watering but it has started to flower and it is very pretty. It is also a single one which are easier for the pollinators.
I also have foxgloves in containers that are very small, so they need daily watering, but again they are beginning to flower.I went and trimmed back some beech tree branches from along the church path as they had suddenly sprouted so it was difficult to get past them. This afternoon I sorted out the edge pieces of the new jigsaw and got it done except for one piece. It will be a challenge even though it is a smaller one. As I had been asked to do a ‘yellow’ sketch for a show the WI are entering so I went out today to draw some pansies. I have managed to get it into a suitable frame as well.Anya and family have been travelling home today, they should arrive there shortly. They stopped at a farm shop nd sent me a couple of photos.

I must look for the film Lady in the Van as I’ve only ever seen trailers and I do like Maggie Smith. I think Alan Bennett has written a lot of good stuff. So his books should keep you going for a while.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are looking pretty. So you’ve obviously been keeping them well watered, which is a nightmare this weather.
The times I’ve heard you say you’ve done the puzzle edge apart from one piece. I’m not sure if it’s just you, or the puzzle manufacturers ganging up on you 😊
I think your yellow sketch looks really nice. Even better in the frame. I’m sure they’ll be happy with that.
Hopefully the clan will be home around now. Glad they had a good time up there, but it’s such a long drive. They’ll all sleep well tonight. Hopefully you will too.
Google is very good with the collages. I’m amazed it even worked out the balloon animal was actually an animal 😂 That’s technology for you….frightening!
Yes, I thought that about the collage, it is a bit scary what technology can do!
ReplyDeleteI think most people miss one or more edge pieces, however thorough you think you have been you rarely find them all.
The potted plants are doing well, but they do need a lot of attention!
Yes, the family are home safely and they had a good journey down.
This Alan Bennett book is funny, the other one I have is a biography.
