Gardening and embroidery

I walked into Dunkeld this morning to work in St Ninian’s garden with the Birnam in Bloom group. I weeded along a flower bed and swept up leaves and after a tea break dead headed the hanging baskets. There is n mazing Himalayan lily, it must be eight foot tall. I took a second photo as it is in a shady prt of the garden and difficult to get a good picture.

I had a drink in a cafe and then went to the cathedral to do a sketch, didn’t go home because it was the knit and natter group on Dunkeld in the afternoon. I had taken my pencil case, nd that is what it turned out to be, I hadn’t put my drawing pens back in there. Haven’t done a pencil drawing in a while! Also began to have doubts about the subject matter, but you can see what it is!
I walked to the car or where the public loos re nd spotted this van.
I just carried on with my embroidery at the group, I only do it there so progress is slow. A photo when I have done more. Anya called in towards the end of the meeting as they had got the keys to their second holiday home a few minutes walk away. After the group I went along to their accommodation and she drove me home. They had been to the Hermitage this morning and there is another bear there.
I must get up there again soon.
Have watched some tennis and great to see Arthur Fery get through to the quarter finals.
We are meeting Anya and family at the ice cream parlour in the morning.

  1. Not satisfied with your own garden to weed, you have to do a second one. That’s what I call “greedy”…….or am I thinking of a different word 😂 The lily is huge. How quick do they grow? I was thinking those and sunflowers interspersed would look good.
You know I’m very fond of your pen sketches, but I really do like that pencil sketch. There’s a lot of detail in there. I think it’s great.
I think Haggis Adventures is a great name for Scottish tour company. They do have a lot of pride in their country up there.
There’s no rush to finish the embroidery. Saves you having to find a new project. Are the broad accents getting any easier to understand?
The bears are definitely their version of the Hornsea puffins. It does encourage people to visit places regularly.
Seems we’re doing reasonably well in the tennis and football at the minute. I really hope it continues. 🤞
Enjoy your ice cream breakfast 😊

  2. Weeding there seems different, and the ladies in the group are friendly.
I don’t know how quickly the lily grows but it is certainly very striking.
Will have to see if we can get a map of the whereabouts of the bears, they are so bright and colourful.
I was in the minority of one at the craft group, the Scots really don’t like the English!
