We all slept pretty well and woke up to sunshine in this lovely little cottage. It did cloud over today but it was a bright start. We had to get the bin in which had been put out in an alley at the back of the property. Anya and Isobel out back.
We walked to Micklegate Bar where you could get onto the wall.
A lot of steps up but I did go up onto the wall with them to say that I had!

Then we went into the Henry V11 Experience, a really good little attraction.

Anya took some pictures of me trying on very heavy helmets, but on her phone so I will post them another day when I have saved them!
We all walked into the town but I was really struggling with the ankle and even more so the knee today so we parted company so that they could visit a couple of places and I could make my way  back slowly.
I passed The Shambles Market on the way and also this lovely church, which sadly wasn't open today but it was yesterday.
I spent the afternoon writing a couple of postcards, doing puzzles and reading while resting the legs. I did sit out in the back garden for forty minutes but it turned quite cold. When Anya and Isobel got back we went for a walk back to Micklegate to get some dinner. We sat in this great restaurant but ended up not eating there as it was too late for them to cook. It was called The Bike Shed and was great inside.

We ended up eating in a pub and the food was really great.
A photo now for Tina, the is a St Columba church, and as Tina helps out at St Columba in Scarborough thought she would be interested. Wasn't a saint I had heard of until we went to Scarborough.
A quiet evening planned. When we went out to eat I wore the boot again and will probably use it again tomorrow.

  1. Looks like you did a fair bit from the photos. I really need to go to Micklegate! And the bike shed there looks great too. Shambles Market is a great neme too! The first picture, Anya and Isobel in the ally looks like a shot from Coronation Street :-) York looks like a really nice place altogether. Don't think I've ever spent any time there, not that I remember anyway. So many places in this country I'd like to visit, and that one can go on the list.
Shame you had to part company mid way, but the ankle isn't 100% yet, so best not to overdo it if it gives you bother. Just spend more time in coffee shops and cafes :-)
Take it easy, but have fun.

  2. We thought you would like the sound of Micklegate! Yes, I did manage quite a bit really and it was sensible to let Anya and Isobel explore a bit on their own and me rest up for a bit. You would certainly like it here, very interesting place.
