Today it was time to end our York adventure. We were ready to get on our way before check out time at 10 am. Thought I would try and get more of the front of the cottage in a picture when Anya was locking up.
A few doors down was this cottage!
We decided to go back to The Bike Shed for breakfast. We had eggy bread with maple syrup! We then walked into the town along Micklegate. We went and had a look round this church which had an exhibition and activities in.
We also went into an Oxfam shop which specialises in books and music. Really great selection, well displayed. We all got books. I finished Lion this morning which I really enjoyed and have another one now called Gypsy Boy, another biographical tale. When we got into the town I sat on a bench for a while and listened to another very good busker while Anya and Isobel had a wander round. Then we set off to a chocolatier where we had delicious hot chocolate.
We wandered to Kings Square where we had seen a street entertainer yesterday. Isobel enjoyed watching today's performance.

Then the lad was up on the unicycle.
We watched another entertainer called The Man with Big Balls!
Quite a lot of suggestive patter in his performance and some actually verging on rude!
Walking back to the station we passed this hedge dog,
and an invisible man!!
Anya and Isobel saw me onto my train before they went off to catch theirs. I got a taxi back to the house this end as Tina is away and Darren was at work. I was tired but in a good way, lovely to spend time with Isobel and Anya and I managed to do quite a lot with them. Looking forward to being more mobile next time we spend some time together.
I will finish the entry today with a photo we had taken at The York Dungeon!!

  1. I would love to live at 1 1/2! Some really quirky stuff in York, place names and the like. Lots of street performers too. It would cost you a fortune to give something to them all. The cottage you stopped at looks great in the full photo. A proper old terraced place. I love the front door and the Windows, but I wouldn't fancy painting them though. Too many bits of glass to go around!
All in all a good time had by all from the sounds of it. Back now to normality, whatever that is :-)
I think the final picture of you all at the dungeon is brilliant! The expression on all your faces is priceless. Definitely a framer :-)

  2. Certainly a lot of quirky and unusual sights in York. A great place. We thought the photo was pretty good as those sort of shots go. Normal, what's normal??
