For some reason I didn't have a good night so got up at seven and decided to get in the shower straight away. I have been standing without the boot on so thought I would try having the shower minus the boot! Managed that okay so all is going well.
Tina was not at work today and suggested we drive out to The Flask on the Whitby Road for breakfast. It is in a lovely position and there are caravans and a bus stop right outside. It seems like a good place to have a couple of quiet days away from it all. Very nice people and a very tasty breakfast to set us up for the day. As we were leaving there the property opposite had a hobby horse style bike painted up for the imminent Tour de Yorkshire.
Donna told me about a place called Falling Floss some time ago, I had mentioned it to Tina so she took us for a drive to find it as it wasn't that far from the cafe. It is in a heavy wooded area and very popular as the place was teeming with cars and people. We saw somebody leaving and were able to park up. A very steep and stony path down to the waterfall area, I had to hold on to Tina as with one air boot and one sandal I was very wobbly!
Tina roaring with laughter as I had unwisely said I was 'unstable' and had to clarify that it was the balance, as well as the mental state!!
It was worth the effort as it was a truly lovely place.
We were admiring the trees until Tina noticed this one had lots of little slugs on it! We are wondering if there are such things as tree slugs, I must look that up.
As we neared the top on the way back to the car park I took a picture of our descent.
We came up a different path which was narrow and a bit muddy but did have a rail which helped me.
From there we drove to Ruswarp and had a coffee sitting by the river.
Tina pulled into a car park she had noticed on another trip so that we could admire the view.
We had a cup of tea when we got home and then I helped Tina move the settee in their living room before coming upstairs. After the success of the shower I had said to Tina I was going to try walking around in my rooms without the boot on to see how it seemed. That went well so since then I have been wearing the shoes that I bought in York last week. That seems to be fine too, so have pretty much decided to make the decision to manage without it as I feel the ankle is ready. It is great to be able to wear a shoe on that foot, I haven't worn an ordinary shoe for about six months now.
Off to York tomorrow, so will get sorted in time to watch Broadchurch. will finish with a slightly less bland sky Mike.
An active and eventful day for you. Quite a little adventure with Tina, and a good giggle too from the looks of it. Love the waterfall and the river view cafe you went in too. Definitely a couple of places to go back to.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you have made the decision to wear shoes now. You know your own body better than anyone, so if it feels right, then I'm sure it is the right time. Just take it easy and be careful......no running :-)
That's a cracking sky, and definitely not bland!
I have looked up tree slugs and there are such things! The ones we saw definitely fit the description too.It was an enjoyable day, I think the clambering about and managing helped me decide to see if I can manage without the boot. Glad you like the sky photo.

ReplyDeleteI did look them up and there are such things, I had no idea!! xxx
