This morning we set off reasonably early and made out way to where one of the river boat trips started. It wasn't bright which is probably good as we could see what we were looking at, but it wasn't cold either. There was a good commentary and it was a lovely trip.
I will post a couple more shots, maybe more when I get home.
That bridge does still open but is rarely used, it is the start of the River Foss. This was just a lovely shot.
From there we went to the Dungeons. This was a series of mini plays, some really quite scary and some a bit saucy. It was over an hour and each play was in a different room. It was very good and the actors all great. We jumped with fright a few times, a very different experience. Then, after a coffee and cake break we went into the town and visited Barley Hall, a lovely, fairly recently discovered and renovated house. Very interesting and a great building.
This was a great street name!
And these were fab flowers!!
Then we went to Dig, an archaeological experience for children, well, adults could join in too!
We had dinner at a really nice fish and chip restaurant called Mr Chippy's and then walk to a taxi rank rather than do more walking to get back to the cottage. I wore the boot today and this morning my knee was really painful, but actually managed the day without too much trouble, although walking on the cobbled areas is a challenge in the boot!
Sounds like a very busy and tiring day, but you did some great stuff. The boat trip looks really good, and I really like the photo you described as a lovely shot. The road name is brilliant, I'd love to have that as an address:-) The giant flowers are very you. A couple in your lounge would look good! And you found time for the dig and what sound like really nice fish and chips. You'll sleep well tonight.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great day, so much to look at and do in York, a fabulous city. We have watched a film this evening so a good finish to the day. Back to out homes tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWow!! You really had a full day, love your trousers. Some wonderful things to do. Glad you used the boot. Isobel will have lots to write about in her school news book on Monday. ( If they still do that) Anyway lots to tell her dad and other grandma.
ReplyDeleteI really like those trousers too! It was a busy day but I was pleased to manage a whole day with them as I had gone back to the cottage earlier on Wednesday. xx
