This morning I decided to freshen up one of the garden ornaments which had faded quite a lot. I had ordered some model paints which arrived yesterday. I did have to dodge some showers but did get it painted.
Darren has enjoyed a couple of spells on the jigsaw, it is nice to have one on the go.After lunch we went to Stewart Tower Dairy, the place for ice cream in the area. The restaurant is called the Round House for obvious reasons, it is situated quite high, so nice views too.
This is what I mean by uneven paths, lots of roots and lots of rocks too.
Liked the fungi and the next on was of uprooted trees that were still alive, it was like a cave, great shelter for wild life.I picked up some pine cones while we were out, did a sketch, not a scribble of them after dinner.
Darren has had a good weekend, he makes his way back to Hornsea tomorrow.

I think you’ve made a damn good job of that. Your talents are endless ๐
ReplyDeleteLooks like it’s been a good day for everybody. Jigsaws and ice creams. Sounds like a perfect day. You can’t beat a trip out and lots of good scenery to look at, and photograph. Some great skies in the pics tonight.
Darren must have overdosed on calories this weekend. All those cakes and ice creams ๐ I’m sure he’ll be good when he gets home though. That sounds weird saying that as he’s actually at home now. The other one is just temporary. He’ll be pleased when he doesn’t have so much traveling to do.
It’s not a good idea to go the wrong way when the paths are up slopes and as uneven as in your pic. It does look like a worthwhile walk though as once again the scenery is beautiful.
The uprooted trees look a bit teetering, but like you say I bet it’s full of all sorts hiding under it.
The pine cone sketch is lovely. Lots of detail. You should do an another book of sketches.
Glad to hear Darren has had a good time. How long before he comes again?

It certainly catches the eye now. And now I have the paints I can write Rectory on all the bins!
ReplyDeleteThey were very nice sundaes, it is amazing how much is in those glasses.
It was good to reach the loch, it would take a long time to see them all in Scotland. Loch Ness is apparently about two hours drive away, that is a must at some time, might be lucky enough to spot Nessie!
Not really going to tire of the views any time soon, and still the different seasons to capture, I think autumn will be stunning.
I had picked the pine cones up, have often done before and then forgotten about them, so thought I would do the sketch today.
Darren will be up in a couple of weeks for my birthday weekend.
