This morning we took it easy and had a late cooked breakfast. I did do some bits of the jigsaw, but photo tomorrow. When we had eaten we drove back to the car park at Rumbling Bridge so Darren could see it and then we walked up the hill a bit.
We took some pics when we got to the top of the hill.Darren took a photo from the top of that rock.
There was a sign to the Hermitage, about a mile, so we decided to follow the path. I did take the walking poles, the first time I have used them. After three adjustments to the height I did find the helpful as it was a very hilly walk and uneven ground. We knew we were there when we got to Ossians cave. It was shady under the trees so for the inside one I used the night setting.
I have to admit I was struggling a bit on the way back. We had a rest on this amazing bench.
We drove to a cafe and had a drink before we drove to Dobbies in Perth for afternoon tea.It was very enjoyable, and we even brought some cake home!
I rescued a house plant, what more can I say? I will repot it tomorrow. The indoor plant compost cost almost as much as the reduced plant!Quite where it will live is to be decided!
We have just had birthday cake, and having a restful evening.

It sounds like it’s been a really good day. It looks like Darren enjoyed it which is all that matters. Happy birthday Darren 🥳
ReplyDeleteYou’ve done a fair bit of exercise today, so I hope you don’t suffer for it later. Glad to hear the walking poles help. You’ve definitely got the perfect terrain for them up there!
I have to say I think Darren was the winner of your little photo contest at the rock. That extra bit of height makes all the difference. I do like your photo from in the cave though. That’s come out really well.
That bench is amazing. If you had to buy the wool to make that it would cost an absolute fortune! At least no one will pick it up and walk off with it 😊
Afternoon tea looks good. You’ve definitely spoiled the birthday boy with cake. He’ll need to get to the gym when he gets back after the weekend 😂
You’re well known for rescuing plants. You usually bring them back to life though. That’s rather a large one! I’m sure you’ll find a place to fit it in.
Enjoy the rest of the birthday evening.
It seems to have been a busy day, but a good one. Lovely that Darren drove up yesterday so had a full day with us today. He has taken Monday off work as well so has the whole weekend here as well.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to go along a new path, in readiness for longer walks if I ever get fit enough!
It really was an amazing bench, the contact details were on itvif you fancied having something made.
Afternoon tea was good and more cake at home, so a good day all in all for Darren’s birthday.
