Yesterday morning we set off quite early to catch the train into Edinburgh to meet up with Anya and Isobel for the day.
There is a new footpath on the other platform so people don’t had to cross that very rusty bridge.
Anya and Isobel met us at the station and we went to the art gallery for a drink and then had a look round. I took photos of a few pictures but will just add my favourite, there were no postcards of his work, but I will look him up.

We walked to the restaurant.
The restaurant was called The Ivy and was a lovely building and the food was fantastic.
The birthday box did come in a box and when it was lifted hot caramel sauce was poured over it.
Got a little one with a candle as well. Everyone was given a spoon to help eat the dessert!
After lunch we had a bit of a walk and then went on a city tour bus, a really interesting city, some gret buildings.
When we got off it was time for Darren and Tina to go to the station to catch the train home, and we caught a but and went back to Anya’s holiday home. We were all tired, we did quite a lot of walking as well as eating!
This morning Anya and I went to early breakfast at Pret A Manger.
We then caught the bus into the city, Anya tried to get a picture of ‘the big poo’ building growing out of my head!
Then we went to the station to make our way to Birnam.
We came to the house and Tina drove us to Dunkeld where we were pottery painting.
Then we drove to a beautiful hotel for afternoon tea.

We had a walk in the grounds when we finished,
We came back here and I looked at cards and presents before Anya and Isobel went to catch the train.
Maybe a bit more detail tomorrow.
A lot of pics and it looks like you had a very enjoyable time. It’s great you all got out together like that. It’ll take you a few days to get back to normal after all the excitement. Does it feel any different hitting another age milestone?

The meal at the restaurant looks fantastic. I bet you all thoroughly enjoyed that, especially the dessert!

What a great weekend. You’ll remember this birthday. A new place, but lot of family around you. Perfect! I’m really pleased it all went so well.
