I am having a fairly quiet day today. I did go to the ceramics studio and spent over two hours more on the plate. All the squares now painted and I have put small, slightly darker dots, alongside the red ribbons. Doesn't really show on the picture but I am hoping that it will make it look ribbon like when it is fired. I am planning to finish it off over the weekend so that it can be fired before Christmas.

On the way home I called in at the craft shop and collected the napkin rings that I made on Wednesday evening. Quite cute, but more difficult to make than they look!

It is bright and sunny today but the wind is bitterly cold. Going to have a lazy afternoon then off to see a film at the library this evening.

Last night Tina and I went to the craft class, the serviette rings we were doing turned out to be tricky as we were using awful double sided tape! Much laughing and fun followed, a good evening. Haven't got the rings yet as they were still wet, will collect them tomorrow.

Today I met Michelle in York and we have had a lovely day. There was a fabulous Victorian Christmas market, so we spent a lot of time there!

It was a grey day but that didn't spoil our enjoyment, took this picture of Michelle when there was a finny wonky building in the background, but you cannot see that too well!

As it got darker we saw this really amazing tree of lights, quite breathtaking.

Walking back to the station I took this picture with the lit up church in the background.

Home and tired now, but a lovely day. we plan to meet up again in the good weather and when we are not Christmas shopping!

This morning was indoor job day, well it was if you include filling the bird feeders. I have started to repack cupboards in an attempt to be less cluttered and did sort out a bit bag of clothes for the charity shop. I want to get started on the water colours and some sewing, but want to clear the decks before I begin! I went off to the community centre and had decided that Molly and her mum could make rag wreaths today, as I had rings and material over and thought that would take most of the class time.Molly actually turned up with her French au pair, a very nice young woman. The tearing ad cutting went pretty well, but try as I might I could not teach Molly how to tie the lengths of material on! The au pair made a lovely one though. So I cut out a ring of card and got glue so that Molly could make one by sticking. When they were both busy I was going to take a picture but had taken the camera case, but it was empty! Molly did some drawing and cutting as well so we managed to fill a couple of hours. On Monday I made a different paper decoration.

And this afternoon, while they were busy I did a quick sketch of some crockery!

I called in to the ceramic studio on my way back and had a cup of tea with Donna, Darren spotted me and came in to say hello on his way to the gym. Off to the craft class tonight which is always good.

This morning I set off fairly early as it was the centenary of the First World War bombardment of the Yorkshire coastline, Scarborough was hit and there was loss of life. Flares were being sent up from the castle to mark the day at 8 am. Another clear morning, the sea looked great as usual.

The flares were a bit late going off so I was getting chilly fingers holding the camera and waiting! The sun coming up was good to watch though.

I was beginning to think I had got the time wrong, but the flares began to be fired and then I though I might not catch the moment. I did, not brilliant, but glad I went down to see.

By the time they were finished the sunrise was lovely.

Walking back home the park was pretty in pink!

A bright sunny day again, a bit chilly but really lovely for December. Yesterday evening I made good headway with the cards, am about half way through the address book now! I had a package to send and needed some large letter stamps so headed off to the post office, Tina also had a package to go. Early morning proved to be a good time as I was served really quickly today. I then made my way to the community centre, via Boyes where I bought some lengths of ribbon. I am going to weave them to sort of match the plate so that I can see how they lay for the finishing touches! The mosaic was put up at the community centre last week, in the garden there. As I worked on it for three sessions I have taken a picture of the final placing.

I took a close up of the mosaic to show the detail, it is pretty impressive. I think they may have misjudged the size though as it might have looked better with a green border right round it.

I did a section of the rainbow and also the narwal, that was because others thought than my be a bit tricky!!

The craft group was fairly well attended today and Stephanie and \Molly are definitely coming to my group on Wednesday which will be good. I was due to help out at the ceramic studio this afternoon but Sandy phoned to say she wasn't well and would have to cancel. She asked if I would wait outside and make sure people knew! I stood around for quite a while and managed to tell about five young mums who said  they would let the others know.

I took myself to Sainsbury's and did some shopping, got a taxi home. I will try to get the cards finished tonight.

Enjoyed most of Strictly last night and had a good chat with Clare when she got home. I slept in Macey's bed, Darren slept in Clare's bed and Clare and Macey had mattresses on the floor in the play room. Thank you very much Clare, we had a good night. A Peterborough sunrise for a change!

We went to Margherita's, delivered their cake and had a good natter, then Darren and I had a leisurely drive home having a couple of stops en route. I took some pictures from the car, will post a couple of the bridge,

I absolutely love the Humber Bridge, took one out of the side window of the view, not so easy when you are travelling along!

We were home by 4 pm so can have a relaxing evening now. I really must get started on the Christmas card writing! We enjoyed the weekend and the cakes are now delivered, so a very successful trip.

Now in Peterborough and have just watched Strictly, spoiled a bit by the dogs who haven't stopped barking all evening. Macey has been fine! We set off just after 9 am and Darren stopped at Staxton for me to take a couple of photos. The viewing area is at the top of a 17% hill. Did have to climb on a fence to try and see over the hedge!

Our journey after that came to a bit of a standstill, the M180 and the A15 were closed due to accidents and we were virtually at a standstill for a while and then sent of a country detour which bought us about 2 miles down the road! Anyway, we weren't too late and had lunch and a nice time with Anya, Isobel and Louis. We went into Hobbycraft where I got some painting materials and a craft game for Isobel.

We met Mike for a meal and are now at Clare's and will visit Margherita and Rose in the morning and then head home while it is light.
