Boot sale and plate painting.

Dry this morning and we set off pretty early today. Had our usual breakfast and enjoyed looking round, more stalls than we had expected as more rain was supposed to be due. Darren bought a lovely painting today and he already has it up in his man cave.

I got another hat, much to Darren’s dismay!

I also got a small, solid brass and hand painted paper weight and a small jar for Sher.

Before lunch I went out and mowed the larger front lawn. It was quite long and I filled the cart and a bit more. I took a photo as I rested before putting the pots back in place.

As I was finishing I felt a pain in my hand, a bee had been on the handle. I shook it off and hope that it took its sting with it and didn’t die. So that hand was saw and then I found I had a blister that had broken on the other hand! I came in for a rest and Blue had decided to occupy my friend.

The yellow flowers are just beginning to open in the front garden.

This afternoon I finished painting the plate Ann now have to hope that the colours look good after firing.

Feeling a bit weary and just relaxing now,

Rain stopped garden play!

I had been going to mow the front lawns this morning, but the weather had other ideas. I went to the shop as usual then a bit later braved the rain gain to go to the garden market at Number Nine. The craft ladies were still there under marquees. I bought a couple of bits out there and then a couple of gifts in the shop.

I thought I would start working on the landscape plate and realised that it was time to get some of my bottles of underglaze topped up. After lunch Darren drove me up to Freeport with the depleted bottles. Rob filled them up for me while we had q drink. Some of the coasters I had painted for the other workshop had been fired.

We went and did a bit of shopping in Pound Stretcher before heading home.

This afternoon I have started working on the plate one stage at a time and taking photos and notes of colours used. This is where I am after seven steps!

Will probably work on it tomorrow again if it is still wet outside. We will go to the boot sale if it is dry first thing.

Normal Friday

Yesterday evening Tina came up to demonstrate her bubble machine, she intends to use it on carnival day!

This morning I went to post letters and to the shops before going to visit Bel. She was okay, watching tv following the election news. But she silenced it and we chatted and had a cup of tea as usual.

After lunch I popped to see Sher briefly as I had bought some little jars for her to make mini terrariums. Came back and Jean came to visit me as usual.

I went down to the banking hub and could smell the fish and chips so decided to walk to the front and have a pensioners fish and chips on a bench by the sea.

Will endeavour to be a bit more motivate tomorrow!

Nice trip to Driffield

I slept on the recliner last night and did actually get a bit more sleep so felt a bit better in myself today. Not much difference with the aches and pains but definitely more rested. I went to the post box early and when Tina came back from her hair appointment we set off for Driffield. Tina had banking to do but we also wanted to call in at Rafters, the fruit and veg box I order from but forgot to book a slot this week. We had a coffee and then went to the Yorkshire Trading Company before Rafters. We bought quite a few bits there, Tina got me this lightweight beach towel, whichI won’t use as a towel, will find somewhere to display it.

I got several foil covered cake boards as it will soon be time for Christmas cake making, so I can put them by for when decorating time comes. But the main bargains were a birthday card folder, complete with 24 note cards and only £2 and a canvas with pattern on and silks for £2.99. Not too keen on the colours but ai have plenty of silks. Took front and back pics.

Then we went to Rafters and got well stocked up. We went to Bell Mills garden centre for lunch and the only thing I bought in the actual garden centre was more of the flour milled there! Oh, and duck food!

The water was very clear as usual but masses of weed. So much that the ducks were actually sleeping on it. A couple of pics but the ducks are just the brown bits!

Didn’t get any good photos of the ducks when we were feeding them and we really loved seeing a moorhen getting food and feeding her baby.

We called in at Hornsea garden centre on the way home as I have been trying to look at and maybe buy a saw spade I have seen advertised.

Thought about mowing the front lawns but we had a shower of rain and ai didn’t need much to talk myself out of it!

Quiet evening again now.

Bit of painting and bit of walking

Wasn’t feeling too bright again this morning so I caught the bus up to Freeport. They have quite a lot of new stock so I painted an acorn tea light holder. Nearly forgot to take a before photo, but hadn’t got too far.

I took quite a while and even did a bit of writing on it. I hope it will turn out well.

Hopefully it will be fired for too long. I took up the coaster I painted last night and hope that will be ready soon as well.

I felt a bit better so did walk back from Freeport, but took my time and called in to see Sher on the way..

When I got back there was a small pond shape by the door, one of the church members is getting a bigger one, so now we will have to decide where it is going.

Quiet evening and taking to the recliner tonight to see how that goes.

Fairly quiet day

A few chores this morning then a nice trip out with Angela. We had lunch at Cherry Lane garden centre near Beverley and had a look round and bought a few bits, not garden related! We went into Bemora back in Hornsea and had coffee and cake! I rested for a bit and then had an hour out in th e front garden, just pulling the larger weeds. The garden dustbin was emptied this afternoon and it in now filled to the brim again! The bind weed had really taken over, this pile was round a rose bush which you couldn’t actually see, it looked like a bind weed bush!

No other photos today but one I took of a quick sketch I did yesterday evening.

I got our usual Tuesday tea and just relaxing now, may think about painting another coaster in a bit.

Trying to get motivated

Went out in the garden, well, the walled garden, as there were so many sycamore saplings and nettles behind the stone bench that 

Darren’s large bonsai trees on the bench were becoming overwhelmed..

The bench doesn’t move so when I hd done some cutting back I got in behind it. Getting out over the debris was a challenge!

I need to get digging out roots behind the bench at some point, but once I had cleared up thought that was enough gardening for today!

After lunch I went to Boyes as I wanted some carbon paper. Had to buy a receipt book to get some! This afternoon I set about drawing a couple of designs for the coasters. I probably could have h found some already drawn on line, but where is the challenge in that?

Transferred the designs onto tiles and painted them, now sure how easy it will be to get other people painting them.

I visited Sarah and David this evening, heard about their latest trip, this time to Ireland.

I finished my novel today so will probably start on the autobiography later.
