Tightrope Walking Day!

Don’t think that day will be celebrated by too many people, would put too much pressure on the hospitals!

Yesterday evening Tina went to an open craft evening and she bought me a great pair of earrings. She couldn’t resist them as she knows how ai love bees!

While she was out I thought I should use the sewing machine before I forget how! I have lost interest in most things of late and really need to get out of the doldrums! I had designed and got a piece ready some time ago.

I was up very early as my leg was being troublesome but once it had settled down I was less wobbly and ready to be a bit more active! I was up early enough to watch Tom Daley in the diving final live. I went along early for lunch shopping and after the shopping had been delivered walked down to Missy to get some tee shirts to go with my new trousers.  I decided that if I am going to feel fed up with the aches and pains I may at least try and look my best! I did get some so that will be nice when I go to Peterborough at the end of the month. 

As I walked through the front garden I was shocked at how bad the main front bed had become, and just had to go out and do some weeding.

While I was working Carol and Sal came over to talk to me. I have been thinking I need to make an appointment to get my hair cut and Carol said she was going to the salon and I could go along now. So I downed tools and went along to see them. Very pleased with the cut as always.

I did then do a bit more to the bed, tidied up and then it was time for lunch.

Watching Olympics and a walk in the rain.

I popped to the shop this morning before Bel arrived for a visit. We chatted for a while and had a cuppa. Then a good bit of the day I was watching the Olympics. But the first photo is from last night when Pandora was on my lap - again. She often stretches right down my legs and has her head practically on my feet. Yesterday evening she had her back legs astride my thigh and looked quite precarious, she was wagging her tail so the photo is really odd, you can see her ears if you study the photo!

After I had watched the athletics for a while this afternoon I decided to take a walk. My leg had been painful in the night and had continued during the day. I did wonder if my lack of activity this week was making my knees stiffen up a bit. It was spitting when I went out and was soon raining quite hard, but it was lovely and very quiet! A couple of pictures in the memorial garden as I went through, and just a general view and one of the new benches that have been placed near the war memorial which seems very appropriate.

I had a drink at the cafe in the leisure centre, but I sat on a bench which was not as dry as I thought it was! You can hardly see the sea but not a bad lookout.

I really wish I could get into a ‘crafty’ mood, but it just isn’t happening at the moment. Maybe tomorrow!

Good memory and sad memory.

Will start with the good memory from three years ago. I fought to keep my place at the front as I admire Princess Anne and wanted to get a decent shot.

Now the sad one, a picture of the lovely and missed Charlie relaxing in the greenhouse.

Today Tina and I have had a very relaxed day, a lot of it watching the Olympics. We did take a walk along the street, I wanted to see if Missy had any more of the stretch trousers that I really like and we got something for lunch. I did get some trousers and got a goody bag with a lovely scarf in it.

I sat on a bench while Tina went into the food shop so took a photo of the street.

Tina bought a crazy cat ornament in Kitty’s, think it reminded her of Pandora!

My friend David told me about an Andrew Marr book that sounded interesting. I managed to find a copy for under £4 with free postage. It arrived today and is in very good condition.

A walking wreck, just about!

For a few days I have had some congestion in my sinuses and for the last couple of days it has affected my hearing, a bit like I am in an aeroplane! I haven’t been able to tell where sound is coming from. When I got up today, apart from being tired I had lost my sense of balance! So getting around has become more precarious. I fed the birds and made Tina a drink and went back to bed.Anyone who knows me will be aware that is seriously out of character. I stayed there for a couple of hours but wasn’t flat out as the hands went numb. Pandora came and laid on the bed next to me which was sweet.

After I had showered and dressed I did walk steadily down to the post box.

After lunch I took another short and steady walk to Lesley’s. We had a cuppa and chat in her garden. I managed to get a photo of a peacock butterfly that settled on the wall.

Last autumn we planted some hydrangeas, they are flowering this year which is nice.

I am not sure if they will change colour, time will tell. The alliums are still attractive when they are dead!

I have Pandora on my lap again, not complaining as I am still struggling with the sense of balance. Fingers crossed it will be a bit better tomorrow.

Clean Your Floors Day!

Only one clean your floors day a year, that sounds pretty good to me, but a bit extreme even for housework haters like me!

Haven’t felt too lively today, quite tired, if only I could go for a nap on the bed!

I went down the road to the shops this morning and did a couple of chores indoors. Went out with Tina at lunch time, we went to 

Driffield as she had banking to do, and then we had lunch, which was good. Took a couple of pictures of the Main Street there, not too interesting and not too busy either! Tina had tha car on charge while we were there.

Tuesday is the day that Lesley comes to do a bit of weeding, but that hasn’t happened that often, but we meet up anyway for a chat and a cuppa. I put her off today so we are meeting up tomorrow instead.

This afternoon I dozed in the chair for a while with Pandora on my lap while allegedly watching the Olympics!

Did spur myself int making a birthday card, I have had a bit of a mental block regarding this card and the birthday is on Saturday!

No pedalling tonight, will write a couple of letters providing the hands are okay. Hoping I will feel a bit more active tomorrow.

Will add a couple of obscure words as I haven’t been doing it for a while.

Today was the appointment to see the consultant who did my knee replacement last year. Tina drove me to the hospital and as it was a work day and the new internet was due to be sorted this afternoon I said I would make my own way home. The hospital is maintaining the same Covid procedures so sanitising and a clean mask on arrival. To the X-ray department first where they took three different shots, then to the main waiting room to wait to be called. Didn’t wait long and Mr Johnson asked a lot of questions and made notes and then did a very thorough examination of the knee. He has no idea why I have the pain, the X-rays were normal and I have good movement in the knee. He said further investigation might make things worse I didn’t like the thought of them opening it up when they didn’t even know what they were looking for! So the consensus was that I just love with it, which was pretty much what I had anticipated so not too upset about it. 

The buses from the hospital seemed pretty hit and miss and a fair walk to a bus stop so I decided to phone for a taxi into the city centre. The number I had wasn’t picking up so back to plan b and the bus. A reasonable walk and checked I was on the right side of the road! This rather nice building was opposite.

I had a cuppa and sandwich at the station before catching the bus home. This shop front is on the station.

We stopped by this shop on the bus on the way home.

Paul was working on the wall when I got home so I made us all a cuppa and I went and sat in the summer house to drink mine. I love this shaggy daisies, we have two of these plants now as I split it last autumn.

I have been to see Sarah and David this evening and may do some pedalling before I go to bed!

Twin sunflowers and other garden beauties.

This morning Darren and I went to the boot sale as usual, not busy as it was quite damp and grey early on. We were back quite early and I started doing a bit more sorting, we didn’t bring lots of extra stuff back, I got some audio books and Darren a couple of dvd’s.

 I still have stuff everywhere from the sorting to get put away this evening. After lunch I went out and did some weeding in the walled garden, I worry about the frogs hiding under the weeds when they get too big as I would hate to tread on one.

We watched the very exciting Grand Prix then I got on with dinner. While there was nothing to do I went out and took some photos in the garden. The two  small sunflowers are both opening in the front garden and the two tall, bird food planted ones are now both opening in the back garden!

Then the rest of the beauties including Blue lounging on her new favourite place!

After dinner I walked down to the front with Tina as she had left the car there earlier when she had gone out to dedicate the lovely new benches in the memorial garden. I saw them as we walked through on the way to collect the car.

We went and had a look at the sea before coming home.
