Welton village and Peterborough

We packed the car with Darren’s Amiga stuff and six Christmas cakes, plus other bits and cases, and we’re on the road by 9.30am. We arrived at Welton at eleven just as everyone was setting up their computers. One of the other guys was chatty and said I should come through to the main hall, I was sitting in the quiet bar are with a cuppa. I did go through and was at between him and Darren. He did chat to me a lot, the computer stuff went over my head needless to say. The meeting was due to go on until 5pm so I did pop out for a couple of walks. It is quite a interesting village.

The meeting was village hall.

I di get the phone out in time to catch a horse disappearing.

There was a King Charles bench, hadn’t seen one of those before.
They also had two benches, one for each of the world wars but also a stand for the rubbish between them.

There were some interesting road names.
A few walls had what looked like roof tiles along the top.

A couple of other photos while I was out.

Back at the hall there were tables like these along all the walls, quite a few members.

I loved this display and what it was for in the entrance of the hall.

We left soon after five and made our wet o Peterborough. We called in to see Rachel and Skip to deliver their cake and wish Rachel happy birthday. We are now comfortably ensconced in the hotel. I was up early and didn’t sleep too well, so won’t be late to bed.

  1. Quite a long day for you both. Although it probably felt longer for you than Darren as he had his head stuck in a computer ๐Ÿ™‚ He’s been attending that meeting for a really long time. Im sure he’ll miss it when you move. I imagine it’ll be a bit for to travel for it. Nice to hear some of them actually chat to you as I imagine they mainly want to talk about Amigas. Nice you got out for a walk to break the day up a bit. It’s a long time to be sitting in a hall with a lot of computer nerds ๐Ÿ˜‚
It looks a nice little village. I like the benches and bin. They’re very unusual. It seem everywhere in the country does stuff like that, apart from where I am! Hey ho.
I’d like to live in Poachers Rest. A nice address to have.
Once up an a time you used to see a lots of the old dry stone walls with roofing slates on top to protect them from rain damage. All the good stuff is slowly vanishing. I would say younger generations will miss out, but I don’t think they really care if it’s not plugged in somewhere ๐Ÿ˜Š
I hope Rachel is doing well these days?
    Fingers crossed you sleep well.
    See you tomorrow.

  2. it was a little chilly when walking around but I enjoyed it as there were some different things to take pics of. There were couple of shops as well as a Co-op, a pub, coffee shop and fish and chips place and even a dentist with two dentists and a hygienist.
Next to the village hall was a cute little police station with a couple of police cars outside. Some very large impressive houses says well.
First cake delivered, five to go!
