Started another sketchbook

I did the usual Saturday shop and then a bit later set off for a walk. I called in the see Sher at Botany on the way. But before I went out I put some flowers into a vase that Tina gave me last night.
Sher has asked if I will be one of her ‘Prop Squad’, a group of us will try propagating plants, a new one each month. So I have the first two tiny bits of plants to try and grow!
I then walked to the community orchard via the Tesco car park and then along the trail a little bit and back into the town.
I pulled some ivy off the wall as I came in and ended up doing a sketch in my new pocket sketchbook and a painting in my slightly bigger book.
When Tina and I went into Hull on Thursday we were listening to a program about an interesting book which Tina ordered when we got home. I have started reading it, rather more high brow than my usual choices so will see how I get on!
I will finish with a couple of pictures from Kew Gardens which my friend sent.

  1. That’s a nice bunch of flowers. Tina always manages to find some good one for you.
The Prop Squad thing sounds a good idea. Should be very interesting. I’ll look forward to seeing what results you get. I know what the outcome would be if it was me doing it, but I’m sure you’ll fare a lot better 🙂
I like the idea of a community orchard. Is it exactly as it says? Can you just pick fruit willy nilly?
So the new sketchbook is on its way. That’s good. You’re really into the arty stuff now and it’s really nice to see. I will still be looking out for them, even if it’s not every day now 😊
I hope the book is good. I think it’d be a bit heavy going for me. I’ve not read anything for a long time now. Really should make an effort instead of lolling around doing nothing.
I would never had guessed the last two pics were from Kew Gardens. They just look like they were taking in a park or a back garden somewhere. Although I suppose that’s the scenario they are aiming at to make it natural looking.

  2. There are trees in the community orchard, I will check later in the year to see if they are fruit trees. I noticed yesterday there are benches further in where you could take a picnic.
Fingers crossed the tiny cuttings do take root.
