Keep it Cash -a great show

Last night Tina and I went to a concert at the Floral Hall, Keep it Cash, absolutely great. Th singer really sounded like Johnny Cash and he was backed by the great musicians. All the popular songs and some I had never heard, but they were obviously Cash songs and were easy to follow.

Today I did a bit of shopping early on and then spent some tim on th front garden, ther is a bed that needs attention as it is full of tree and plant roots. I could hear the town crier when I was out there so went and tracked him down.

This afternoon I bronzed the box that I put the picture on of the other day, all very bright then.

I assembled another box top and will put pictures of it before and after painting. Hopefully it will be dry enough to highlight tomorrow.

Hav really enjoyed Strictly this evening.

Sewing demonstration

This morning I spent some time hoeing th flower bed at the front of the house, also some digging to remove more roots and planted a couple of flowers. Took the picture when I came back this afternoon.

Last night I piled stuff up on a box to than paint black, the picture is a bit blurred but it gives the idea. I did paint it but was too keen and dropped some black painted beads on the carpet! Will give it much longer to dry properly now......

This afternoon I walked up to Freeport as Aimee was giving a sewing demonstration. I wonder if the tree had been removed and luckily it had, the path is clear and the remains of the tree along the edge.

Aimee showed us two quick ways of doing cathedral window patchwork. Neither actually that quick but not as complicated as the proper way.

We are going to see the Johnny Cash tribute act tonight which should be fun.

Felled tree and craft

This morning I set off to walk to Freeport, th wind had dropped a bit since last night so it was a pleasant enough walk. As I wandered along Polly’s Path I realised my way was blocked. I was so amazed I didn’t take a picture of the top off the fallen tree but struggled through the branches. Not my best idea because then I met the trunk and ended up on my knees to get under it!

As you can see, the path was completely blocked, quit a big tree to succumb to the wind.

When I got to Freeport I went to reception to report it and they said they would contact the council.

The course was great, just two of us and we had to paint and highlight the things we had decorated last time. I opt d for the nite, as I have a friend in mind, but the black finish is very antique looking and impressive so will do a box in that finish another time.

Very different to the coloured beads etc but a great effect I think. We finished early so Mags let us have a go at a ‘doodle’ card. Literally scribbling a shape and then adding some decoration. Loved doing this and it was so easy.

Tina came up to meet me, we called in to the Gift shop and bought another fairy house, I had really liked this boot when I got the other one.

Then we made out way to Reighton nurseries stopping for lunch at a farm cafe on th way, very tasty it was too. It was raining quit heavily by th time we were at th nursery, but we got quite a lot of plants as good prices, so I know what I will be doing when it stops raining! Tina found a cafe to go to and we set the Satan’s and off we went. It took us through a huge caravan park and then we came to a stop as th last part was no entry. Although it was raining we set off down a really steep hill towards the beach. Before we got to the bottom we could see it wasn’t open so we made our damp way, more like dripping actually, back to the car.

May go to the craft outlet tomorrow lunchtime a Aimee is giving a sewing demonstration.

Edging the fairy garden.

The ladies yesterday put the wooden edging round the lawn, I said that I would be able to manage to edge the fairy garden myself.

At the weekend I bought some strong glue and stuck th fairy house that I bought to one of the pavers, just in case someone takes a fancy to it the pavers will have to go too!

I went out early this morning to see about the edging.

I managed to get the edging in, needed to do some tidying it off again after.

Looks quite reasonable now.

The next job will be to paint up the large  block of stone to look like a fairy house.

The rest of the day I took a lot of stuff to the charity shop and also packed and sent off a large package, then planted up some flowers that Tina brought home with her last night. Then I decided to decoupatch a box, very simply, but I like it.

Busy day in the garden!

Today I was expecting the volunteers and the tree people and it was a hive of activity for the morning. The tree guys were here first and were soon set up and ready to start.

They got straight on with the work in the front, they did so some in the back as well.

Theee ladies in the volunteer gang today and they got on with putting the Posen edging round the lawn.

I kept everyone supplied with drinks and work continued into th back garden.

Meanwhile my bed had an intruder in th house!

Butter wouldn’t melt! When everyone had gone there were apples all over the back garden, I collected up any that were okay and have half filled the garden bin, but as the wildlife are using the rotten apples for food I left plenty available but not on the lawn.

This picture has the area that we hope I’ll have a summer house before too long.

I did put in a few plants that the ladies had brought round and watered those that were dry and wilting. Since then I hav been blitzing my bedroom and have a lot of stuff ready for the charity shop. Tina has brought home more plants so I suspect I will be out in the garden tomorrow, weather permitting.

Hornsea beach and welcome rain

I walked to the post office this message morning and went into the park to take a picture f the area that is like a pond all winter, we did in fact think it was a permanent pond originally.

It was dull and drizzly today and has w different the sea looks in ththe mist, with the distant cliffs barely visible.

There was a funky van parked near the front today.

The welcome rain looked great on the flowers and the webs, hard to capture the latter though.

There are some fantastic gourds, fingers crossed I can get them to dry out properly.

Charlie came out to keep an eye on me, he is a handsome boy.

I had another walk to the post office this afternoon so wI not up to see the sea again, how different from this morning.

I have tried to stick the fairly house to a paving slab, I am tempted to try and pick it up but want to give it time to dry properly.

Crafty day

Not a long entry today as apart from attending a craft class and doing a bit of card making at home I haven’t done anything else of interest. I walked both ways to the class at Freeport, it is good for me but as there are no buses there on a Sunday I didn’t hav much choice. That is not strictly true as Darren would have come and collected me if I had called him. The class today was to cover a box top, jam jar lid and small plaque with items, but not just flat, but to create depth and texture. The second session will be to paint everything white, some chose to do black, then you add a second colour to highlight the depth.

So the finished items will look quite different. I painted some stamped images the other day and have also been using the die cut machine. I have combined some of the results to make some cards. The one with the reindeer is not positioned United tight and needs a sentiment across th bottom right hand corner. On the whole I am pleased with the effect though.
