A discovery day

The facts are much less interesting than the title so don’t get your hopes up! I will start today with the only photo that I have taken today. Darren finished the jigsaw and no I didn’t hide a piece! It is really a great image.
I went to the postbox before collection time, one letter for men’s one for Tina. I realised as I got to the post box that Tina’s wasn’t sealed property so I came home again to stick it down and then back in time for the collection.
Tina had an appointment in Hull this morning to see how the work on their house is progressing, luckily she is feeling better than she did yesterday. We were early so she drove along to the new dentist I will be transferred to as my dentist is retiring. It isn’t far from the house so I know the area a bit and there are bus stops nearby on both sides. I will need to catch when into Beverley and then another one into Hull so the appointment better be in the middle of the day! After the viewing Tina drove back through Beverley to show me the building that ai am meeting Judi in on Monday. So the locations re in my mind now, we stopped for a coffee and then had a look round in Lidl. Tina bought a self assembly garden bench to replace the rotting one in the front garden.
I had phoned Bel yesterday and got no answer so I went round to check this afternoon. She is fine and I will visit her tomorrow morning as she is busy on Friday morning.
I got the hose out this evening as we didn’t get rain. Tina came out into the garden and pulled some unwanted shoots from the decorative willow.
I will finish with a collage from six years ago, the beds were. Bit different then!

On the up, maybe!

I am going to witter on about poinsettias for a start. I had two at Christmas, large and relatively expensive, and neither of them made Christmas Day without dropping some leaves. Soon after to be committed to the bin! Then there is the one I have had for seven years, leggy and not overly attractive, but I keep looking after in as I haven’t the heart to abandon it! It has now decided to get some red leaves!
I did get up at a reasonable time and got dressed!  I went to the banking hub, very busy in there today after being closed for four days, and then did. Bit of shopping. I did go out into the garden, wasn’t particularly on the mood but there are several areas which are getting pretty overgrown, today thought ai had better make a start at the front of the front garden as that is the bit the public sees! I took two photos of bits to attack, didn’t get too far with the second one.
The group of tulips are looking good in that first pic, it amazes me how they multiply.
There are some different tulips in the main bed, they open up and look like stars and them close at night.
A lot of work on that first bed, even go the edge cutter out!
I made a start on the second area, but fighting with the undergrowth and the low tree was a step too far today!
I put a few pieces in Darren’s jigsaw, a bit I had been doing at the corner, but then left it for home. He did some when he got in and we were waiting for Carol nd Sal to turn up to cut our hair.
My hair is a bit shorter that usual but a nice cut again, but I am not sure if it was the way I was sitting, but couldn’t move my head in my direction afterwards without a shooting pain! I have taken pills and endeavoured to rub the get into my head, not great for the haircut but a bit easier now!
Was going to get sorting again this evening but am rethinking that one!
Tina has been poorly today so hoping that she starts to feel a bit better tomorrow.

More off colour!

I got up, fed the cats, had a cuppa and did my morning puzzles, then laid back down and Tina arrived with a cuppa at about 10am. I have a sore throat which at least makes me less aware of the pain in the neck!
I have got dressed today but have been sort of busy. I decided it was time to move the bed, change the bedding and turn the mattress, not to mention clearing everything that had fallen down by the headboard. Darren helped me to get it out, it is a divan with drawers in.
The table at the end of the bed had to be cleared and I have been sorting through to decide what to bin and what to find homes for!
At the moment I am going through my several pen pots and binning the ones that don’t work anymore.
I will finish with a photo taken a few years back, may even get dressed and take some photos tomorrow.

Off colour day

We did go to the boot sale, busy but I only bought a nice summer bag for £2, it looks new a it is very clean inside and out.
I did have a chat with Anya but have spent most of the day sitting apart from getting the meals as I have a sore throat and my head and shoulder are very achey.
I did use one of the new glues, it is a bit runny but does hold the buttons in place.
I needed to empty the food caddy in the garden bin and spotted Pandora sunning herself in the porch.
Darren is enjoying the jigsaw, I have only put a few pieces in!
I am hoping to make it through Grace, but may watch it on catch up if bed calls!

Finished the book 🙁

I went out on a couple of errands to shops this morning and spent a bit of time on a jigsaw that I bought Darren when he was a bit upset when I finished one off when he was at work! It is a space theme, may take a photo tomorrow.
I did go in the garden this afternoon but only managed about an hour as I realised the heavy hoeing trying to remove roots is making my arms ache!
I did have a robin flitting about again, one pic quite close one further away. It flits about so by the time I have got gloves off and phone out it is a job to get shots. Not a great zoom on the phone either, but that doesn’t really matter.
Will endeavour to finish clearing that area before too long.
Since tea I have been reading my book, and have finished it which is sad, it is the first in a long series so will see about ordering the next one on the used book site.
A while ago I ordered three little glue bottles and was going to try a button picture to see if it is strong enough but will get around to that tomorrow. May be easier than the glue dots for folk at the dementia cafe class.

Lovely walk at Burton Constable

I went to the bakers early and we both made pack ups to take with us to Burton Constable as Darren was helping at a ‘Have a go’ day with the cherry club and I used my pass to go for a walk. A few years back I had walked down to the lake, so decided to go there again. Quite a long walk amongst the sheep. I thought this tree hd lots of crow nests but some were quite low so presumed it must be ivy or something.
Passed this garden sculpture that I would really like in our garden!
Lots of pics but will start with one which is a bit iffy, there were lots of sheep droppings and they attracted some unusual flying insects, not the usual flies.
I sat in the orangey and had my lunch, I was a bit chilled by then a the wind was cold.
I did do a sketch in there.
I looked round an artists exhibition, some were. Bit weird but some I really liked, I didn’t take pics of them all.
Then I went and watched the archery for a while and did another sketch!
As I felt a bit chilly I went and read my book in the car for a while as Darren wa still helping people try out the archery.
I did get put in the garden for a while nd cleared an area around a tree, but don’t need any more pics today!

Garden and pinch pot

This morning I needed to be around for Ringtons and a grocery delivery so I read for a while and did a couple of chores. Tina has a nasty cough again which is particularly awkward in Holy Week as there are services every day.,we had an early lunch and then I went out into the garden. Time to clear at the back of a bed where there is a path down to the wood burning pile.  I didn’t want to use the strimmer as the hedgehog houses are there, I am fairly sure they didn’t frequent them but just in case, so the hoe again. It is actually better, but much harder work!
Quite a lot to clear, but better now that when it is three feet high!
That was quite hard going and the garden bin is full yet again!
More reading this afternoon but I did pop round to see Bel as she didn’t answer her phone gain. She is a lot better and was actually ironing when I called.
This evening ai went to a pottery workshop nd made and decorated a pinch pot.
Going to Burton Constable tomorrow as Darren has a ‘have a go’ session with the r Henry club, so I will have. Nice walk in the grounds.
