Gardening and trip to Driffield

I went out in the garden quite early before the shopping arrived. I managed to get quite a few of the new plants into the front bed and a little more weeding and hoeing. Doesn’t look a lot different but hopefully the new plants will flourish.

Darren had to collect some arrows in Driffield so I went along for the ride and then we went into the town for a coffee and a good mooch round The Yorkshire Tracing Company. Darren got me a really nice jigsaw which I will enjoy doing.

I did do a bit more planting this afternoon but didn’t take photos, hopefully I will have pictures of colourful beds before too long.

Anya sent me a picture of an impressive fungus so will finish with that.

Lazy day, becoming a habit!

A couple of visitors today, Bel this morning and Jean this afternoon so not a lot to write and not a lot of pics either!

This plant is growing in the front garden, I had some in the tubs last year and tried to transplant it, just the one lot took. My friend Clare used to have it in her garden and I always liked it.

When I was sitting out on the bench waiting for Jean to arrive this afternoon Pandora came to join me.

Jean bought me some flowers so my big vase is getting another outing!

Watching the Strictly launch show now, will endeavour to do a bit more tomorrow!

Plants for winter colour!

This morning was second injection day for the cats. Blue was put on the box without much difficulty although it is a wonder she didn’t have a very sore throat from the endless howling afterwards! Pandora on the other hand gave us the run around and we had to try again after Tina had taken morning prayers. The constant complaining form Blue didn’t help calm her down. Tina managed to pick her up when she got back, but had to hold on very tightly and getting her into the carrier was another challenge! We ended up with the carrier on end and put her in tail first! When we got to the vets we couldn’t get her out and the vet had to pick the carrier up to remove her! After er jab she was back in the box like grease lightning!

We fetched them home and had a cuppa before going out for lunch at a garden centre. Remembered to leave a not for Shane the Ringtons man as we would be put when he called. We went to Skirlaugh garden centre and had a good look round the antique centre there, Tons spotted this water feeder for the birds, not an antique but it works and will be good for the small birds.

Of course there were Christmas displays on show.

After lunch we went and looked at plants, we actually took some boxes with us today, organised for once. Some bedding plants and a few perennials on offer.

I went down the road to buy a birthday card, then went out again to post it!

I got the plants all into trays and gave them a good watering, also watered the bonsai trees and the tubs in the front garden.

Have been going through drawers nd letter racks getting rid of paperwork I no longer need and after tea I have done some ironing.

Feeling quite tired tonight but looking forward to the final part of the drama I have been watching.

Mainly chores

This morning I ended up going down the road a couple of times to the postbox, I had a couple of cards and went down quite early then Tina had one ready to go.other than that this morning I finished giving my sitting room a good clean and then sorted the stuff to go to the charity shop into boxes. I should have taken a picture of them when they were ready to go, I took the bag off my shopping trolley and balanced their three boxes on the frame. I used some string but as I started to move it they were obviously going to fall! Tina had come home, found some strong rope, a long length, but didn’t want it cutting! You should have seen us tied up in knots! But I got the boxes delivered and got the rope wound up okay after.

After lunch I went into the front garden as the main bed was looking untidy, not helped by the weeds and plants growing in the gravel. Quite hard going but it looks a lot better now.

After I had cleared away the sun came out for a bit and I sat n the garden swing. Took this photo as it gives an idea of hoe tall the latest flowering sunflower is.

I have been pottering in the bedroom since dinner and will watch the second part of Crossfire in a bit.

Dusting ornaments and visiting the library.

This morning I thought it was time to move some ornaments and get the shelves dusted. Got the steps up as the Beatrix Potter collection are on the wall.

That’s then sorted for another few months!

This afternoon I walked down to the leisure centre and have ordered the second book in the Vera series. Haven’t used a library for years but going to try and get my books there regularly now.

The tide was l most in and it was fairly choppy today, quite. Lot of photos but I deleted more!

I had a bird food delivery so went into the greenhouse to get it into containers. The latest sunflower to open must be eight feet tall and has lots of blooms.

May try and get a bit done in the garden tomorrow, but need to finish tidying first and get mor boxes over to the charity shop!

An even shorter entry

I really don’t have a lot to write about. I did take a walk to the sea front this morning as it was a beautiful day. Most of the rest of the day was,I’m front of the tv watching the Queens funeral. I did go and see Sarah and David this evening who have very different views to me but they didn’t keep on about the waste of money etc for too long! So, quite a few se pictures and hopefully more variety tomorrow!

The town was very respectful except for a cafe and a cafe/bar even Hucklebury’s the dog walker cafe was closed. It is in the old shelter by the sea.

Shortish entry

Went with Darren to the boot sale as usual and ai didn’t buy anything off the stalls at all. Was slightly tempted by a couple of things but talked myself out of it. Darren got some floppy discs which he was very pleased about. Quite a chilly day so I did a couple of puzzles in my magazine. 

After lunch I did go out and loft and pot two Japanese anemones. I had researched plants that could cope with drought conditions but not the level of vicarage drought it seems! So they kept wilting when other plants were coping. Now they are in a three prong planter I had along with a small hollyhock!

Had another short outing with Darren, Tina wants a lift to the memorial gardens where there was a service so we went that bit further to the sea front and had a drink of hot chocolate. It really was pretty chilly and the sea looked cold!

When I was getting dinner Tina spotted a young female pheasant on the wall of the walled garden. We watched her for a bit, she went along to the laburnum tree and stretched up to get the seeds down. A very clever bird. Not great photos as they were taken with the phone through a window.

Almost time for the minutes silence, then I will watch Ridley.
