Oh so lazy....

Today I haven’t been in the garden except to feed the birds, sit out with Tina while we had a cuppa and then this evening to make sure the bonsai trees hadn’t dried out. We will water everywhere again tomorrow if it is necessary. This morning when eventually got moving I trimmed my hair first, had a shower and then tried the brown tinted chalks on my hair!
I had cut out some masks and interfacing last night so managed to get three made up before lunch.
This afternoon, still not feeling energetic decided to try and draw a self portrait using the coloured pencils.
Went out to do basic watering this evening, just the little bonsai trees, took a picture of the first beautiful foxglove to be properly open and the rather funky red hot pokers!
Might try and add the i true that wouldn’t upload last night, a slightly out of focus flower just shedding its outer layer.

Some more weeds bite the dust!

This morning I went out quite early to carry on with the fruit bush bed. Still quite a way to go but was on a mission!
Unbeknown to me Tina took a couple of pictures of me while I was working.

I did manage to get it done and even did the edges.
The strange plants that have the protective cover have survived the wind and are beginning to open.
We have three fruit trees in tubs on the patio, they were given to us last autumn, one of them has apples forming and I think one is a cherry tree.
We have some giant white alliums, the largest one was in the shade but one of the smaller ones was catching the sun.

After lunch I managed to get half the plants we had been given into the garden and then sat and did puzzles for a bit. Darren and Tina went out to get chippings to put on the bed I had finished, they got enough to do the bed with the stump in as well. They look great.

After dinner Tina came with me to help water the gardens, then I finished off while Tina removed some of the dead weeds from the drive. The white vinegar weed killer has been working. On the way back in we noticed that the largest of the flowers with the protective shield had opening while we were out, sorry the picture is a bit out of focus! No photo so ignore the last remark, have been trying to upload it for over ten minutes now, maybe tomorrow!

Bit of gardening and little ride out.

This morning, although it was bright and still very windy I decided to get out and do a bit in the back garden. I was going to tackle the fruit bushes bed I started on the other day but first of all thought I should cut back the triffid thistles that have completely smothered the small apple tree.
Took the after photo from a different angle, but you can see the tree now, thankful for some light and the pile of triffid behind it!
I didn’t take a picture before I started on the fruit bush bed, I am trying to convince myself that I have done about half now! It was hard going, deep digging with some very long rooted weeds and brambles.
I sat in the greenhouse having a rest, both cats had been with me in the garden. Pandora was resting just outside the door.
Then she was watching Blue drink from the bird bath and still keeping an eye on her as she came to join me in the greenhouse!
After lunch Tina said she had some cards to drop off and di I fancy a ride out. We went along to Mappleton when she had dropped off her cards, it was very busy up there but I got out of the car long enough to take a couple of pictures. The cliffs have eroded quite a lot more since we were last there.
Tina had heard that Mr Moo’s had reopened for take away cones and drinks so she drove there. It wasn’t too busy and she got us a cone each to eat in the car. The wind was ferocious and getting stronger, there were seeds on a tree in front of the car, maybe cherries. One of them still and one with the leaves horizontal with the wind, which was rocking the car with us both sat in it!

After the link up with the American branch of the family and before I got dinner I had a little play with the hair chalks which arrived today!
Twenty four colours, they are going to be fun!
Will finish tonight with a picture taken by Anya on her evening walk in Peterborough.

Nice walk but no phone!

Last night I was playing with Memoji and thought I had succeeded, but when I tried to email the stickers just blank squares were arriving! Managed to save three of the images so that I can put them on here, looks like I may have to get an app to actually use them on emails.

This morning Tina had a meeting at Atwick church and as it is in the middle of nowhere took me along so that I could have a walk down the lanes. Thought I had the phone in my pocket, but it was my purse, so no photos. It was one of the nicest half hours I have had in a while, saw one pedestrian about fifty metres away but otherwise, not even activity in the fields, was like I had been dropped somewhere not populated. It was windy but bright and I wandered around for just over half an hour, really felt like an escapee!
The second lot of interfacing arrived today, but I haven’t been sewing. After lunch I sat in the dining room and coloured a Beatrix Potter card I have had for ages. It is supposed to be painted but I used my lovely soft pencils so you can see the textured paper. Then I did a couple of the black sheets that I have and will make them into cards.

While I was getting my tea I noticed the sun catching a spiders web. The window was dirty and the wind blowing a gale, but did manage to capture it!
Feeling weary tonight and not for the amount of energy I have used today!
I have coloured hair chalks arriving tomorrow, so watch this space!

Quite a varied day

I haven’t been too energetic today but it has been interesting. I had a couple of letters to post so went to the post box early before I fed the birds. Took a picture of the Californian poppies that had escaped onto the pavement from the church yard.
Very hot again today and my legs are still a bit achy so decided against gardening. Did baking again which actually ai Volvos quite a lot of standing around which aggravates my knees!
Great excitement as at last one lot of interfacing turned up, so got a mask made before lunch!
I mentioned a little while ago that I had seen a video about vinegar based weed killer. The while vinegar arrived a couple of days ago and the sprayer arrived today. Tina and I mad a bit of a dogs breakfast getting the sprayer filled but we did get out there and now time will tell to see if it works!
In the old ceramic sinks near the back door there is a weird flower that has been there for a while, the bud case is interesting and then it is fascinating as it opens.
I have made more masks this afternoon, they are quicker than the pleated ones. I assembled one of them wrongly but finished it off anyway!
I put a thin coat of varnish on the little box I decorated yesterday.
Clapping night again, we carry n regardless even though we are up there on our own!

Bit hot for gardening!

Will start with a photo taken by Andrea who we went to Orkney with, she was out mega early and took this great shot of the bridge.
This morning I was up early as Steve was coming to dismantle the cross in the garden and to bring me some plants and he was due to arrive at 6.30 am. I had a couple of masks for Krissie to give him to take home. I went to the post box as a friend had sent me a cheque for WaterAid I needed to send off. I had sent her a couple of masks. Took a picture of the church on the way back.
I have quite a few plants as well as the pansies to find homes for now!
I did go out into the garden for a while this morning, the plan being to clear behind the fruit bushes. It was very hot so I only cleared near the back fence. Filled the pink trug and have a pile of stuff I dug out, really long way to go!

Pandora has really got the tree climbing bug, Blue followed her up today and they had a bit of a spat up there! Then Pandora went even higher.
The other day Tina sent for two little boxes, one for each of us decorate. I have painted mine today and decorated it, will varnish it tomorrow.
The watering of both gardens is done today and now I am relaxing. I didn’t sleep well last night and am feeling quite weary now.
I have now sent for two lots of interfacing, one lot was due by yesterday and the second one definitely due to arrive today. Neither of them have come which is a little frustrating! Maybe tomorrow!?
