We were all off to Tina's last service as a curate, taking place at Holy Apostles. Tina left ahead of us and Darren and I made our way a bit later. I walked up via the cliff top. Very chilly today but a lovely clear blue sky and the sea was foamy.
The parish house was packed as everyone connected with the church wanted to be there to thank Tina and wish her well for her future ministry.
It was a lovely service and quite a challenge with the numbers in the congregation. Tina preached and it was very emotional. After the service there was a fantastic buffet, more than enough for all the people with some to spare I imagine.
After the meal came the presentations and thank yous. I was a good way away and quite a few of my pictures were a bit fuzzy but will put some to give an idea.
I walked home, was in pain but this time it was because the insoles had moved so that my toes went numb as they were too restricted! Made a change from the ankle and knee though! I took another pic of the bay on my way back.
Darren and Tina went across to Hornsea this afternoon as Tina had collected a table form Mirfield yesterday. I have stayed in and really made some headway with my packing, not long now.
I enjoyed the Strictly result show and much as I have enjoyed watching Jonnie and think he did a great job, did think it was time for him to bow out.
Tina and I are off to Hornsea again tomorrow as carpets are being fitted in two of the upstairs rooms.
As the pain in my ankle and knee have eased a bit I thought I would walk to the park and maybe the glen to see the last of the autumn colours. I wore the new black shoes with the alignment insoles. The glen was lovely as usual and took loads of photos, I will try and keep the posting under control.
I was doing okay, fed a few squirrels and decided to see if I could make my way up to the garden with the pond. So some pics going up, I haven't ventured this was for quite a while.

Back home Tina helped Darren and I load her car to take some stuff across to Hornsea. Tina was using Darren's car as she had a meeting at Mirfield and was going to bring home a table from there. We had a nice drive over, there was a builder in when we arrived who was preparing the wall behind the shower. The downstairs loo is now presentable, the painters having gone in once I had stripped and Mike had papered.
We had taken four trays of books over and I put them on shelves in Tina's office so we could bring the trays back for more packing.
There was a good sunset but nowhere to stop on the way home, but Darren did pull in for me to capture this unusual pink cloud.
While we were in Hornsea we had a good lunch and then went along to the bakers where they do a cream scone, in a bag for you to take home, for £1.20! They are going to be hard to resist.
Quite excited, got some things from the auction but most excitingly a pair of french style armchairs.
Strictly tonight, best make a cuppa before it starts.
I will write the blog entry early today as I haven't got any plans this evening, could be more packing but that is hardly interesting!
Tina took me into town this morning and we went via the auction house, as usual we saw things we liked but haven't actually decided to bid on anything - yet! Then we parked in town, I had letters to post, Tina had a couple of errands and we enjoyed coffee and cake while we were out. Tina then dropped me off opposite the ceramic studio where I spent a pleasant hour with Donna and collected my leaf trinket dishes. They didn't work quite as planned by I am very pleased with the result now they are fired.
I walked home from the studio, it was really cold out today. This afternoon have done a few chores with Tina. We took Charlie to the vet for his booster injection. We had kept him in all day so he was not a very happy boy, and he and Blue had a few scraps! Tina had been sorting through boxes of books and we took three boxes to the Parish House to be sold at the Christmas Fair. She had also sorted out some old bedding so we had a trip to the tip as well.
The evening sky has moved away from my vision even leaning out of the window, but I caught a shot of a bit of it tonight.
So, seem to have been reasonably busy but not a lot to show for it. Not sure yet what the plans are tomorrow.
Tina and I got a few things into the car before she went to her meeting. The Gtec, some pictures and the animal cage that we got from the charity shop. I made my way up to the Parish House a bit later to meet her as we had to be in Hornsea by 11 am and Tina had told the fence man that we would be there between 11 am and 1 pm.
The painting in the house is going really well, the kitchen is well on the way to being finished.
The utility room will be the same colour when it is finished. The downstairs loo that Mike had papered is looking good, they have painted the ceiling white and said he had ordered the paint for the walls. We couldn't remember what colour we had picked but apparently it is Mint.
We had the Gtec with us so I hoovered the carpeted rooms. The living room and Darren and Tina's bedroom are both looking good, nice to photograph them without all the painting equipment everywhere.
We are pleased with the combination in the dining room.
They are putting a coat of paint on the garage walls, this is going to be Darren's 'shed'.
A couple of my pigs found their way to the fireplace in my living room!
I waited in the house for a bit while Tina went off to meet with some of her new colleagues, sadly the fence man didn't turn up. We had planned to walk along the main street to the Craft Cafe for lunch and to see what sort of stuff goes on there. There is a little second hand shop quite near the vicarage which has been closed each time we have been. Today it was open and we went in for a browse. Very chatty, friendly owner, who says he will come along to Tina's induction service. We have been looking for dining chairs, we have seen some at the auction but haven't had room to store them. There were four, very new looking Next chairs we think, a good price so Tina bought them and the owner helped us get the along to the vicarage.
I spotted a great little cabinet, not really sure if it was intended as a bedside or telephone cabinet, but either way it is lovely and I got it for £12.
After the diversion we made out way along to the Craft Cafe, had a very tasty lunch and a look around the craft area. They have some courses and also have to half day sessions each week, one knitting and one crochet. Then we made out way to the carpet shop for Tina to arrange when the hall flooring will be laid. The had some squares of carpet, there was a £1 sticker near them, but as they were bound all round I couldn't believe that was right. I asked if they were for sale and he told me to help myself. I was very good and just took three!!
We came home via Sainsbury's as it is Double Up time. We got some household stuff and some clothes. Then we did a bit of shopping. As I am not now having my stuff moved out on Saturday I got some lovely flowers to enjoy.
We did get a pair of very cute and rather silly gloves each, they had to be had!
I have been feeling quite tired so haven't done a great deal this evening, having a break from packing tonight.
Not a great deal to report today. Did go into town on the bus, had a package to send off, some coins to pay in and needed some birthday cards. Had also seen an advert for the Walkfit shoe inserts, on offer in Boots. Went and bought a pair, they look hard and uncomfortable but actually feel okay in the shoes. Worth a try, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Just had them in for an hour as suggested and with the thinnest arch corrector. We will see how it goes.
Apart from that I have packed a few more boxes, how can I need so many? I wanted a strong one to put the ceramics in from yesterday and some other breakables. The strongest box I had to hand was a banana box, thick but with air holes! So improvised making hole maskers before I packed it.
Tina has spoken to the painter, well, via text, but the same result. Seems like the builders haven't been in much this week although there finishing deadline was today. So looking unlikely that my stuff will be moved across on Saturday. Tina and I are going across tomorrow as we are meeting a man who does fences as there are some broken ones in the garden.
May settle down for a George Gently repeat as there won't be anymore new ones!
This morning sandy had said she would pick me up and take me to the studio. While I waited outside I could hear a sparrow chirping away, eventually noticed it on the dead bush by the gate.
When we got to the studio I got on with the paint pots. Sandy had to take her daughter home as she was poorly so I ended up taking in a delivery as well. The Christmas plate using the crunchy bits of dried paint, a pretty spectacular effect this time.
It wasn't glazed but I used plenty of paint and it is really smooth and well covered. The hedgehog planters have also turned out well, proper cute little twins.
The leaves that I did last week had been biscuit fired so I got on with painting them when the pots were finished.
Now painted and will be fired this week.
They look very plain but I did mix some slightly different colours as highlights, so we will see how they turn out.
Tina has spotted an animal cage at the charity shop, big enough for a medium dog so she was thinking it would be good to have to keep the cats in when we are moving. Sandy went round to buy it as she gets a lot there and got a discount! Tina picked me up with the cage and the pottery and we went and got a bit of shopping before returning home.
I have been doing more sorting/packing and have taken apart a plastic stand, it seemed almost welded together and had a lot of parts, but I managed to get it mostly taken apart and no breakages!
I now have total chaos in my cooking area so will be knocking over more things than usual!
