Morning walk

Today has been a getting jobs done around the house and getting ready for the monk who is coming to stay overnight and giving a talk to church members this evening. He is the monk Tina  will accompany to Zimbabwe after Easter. We needed some shopping so I took the trolley and walked up to Tesco but went via Witty’s Passage and the trail as I wanted to pass the post box while I was out. Nice white blossom on the way along the passage.

It was a bright morning but the wind was quite cold. 

The trolley was quite full by the time I walked home but I took my time.

I prepped some veg and go to some carrot and coriander soup going in the slow cooker, then mostly got on with household stuff.

I put the Bird Buddy out again yesterday and had no visitors. 

It it out again this morning and thought they were still avoiding it but lasted this afternoon a robin did visit.

I went to the talk by Father Nicholas this evening.not was interesting, lots of pictures and his enthusiasm and love for the project was evident, it will be quite an experience for Tina when she goes there for three weeks.

Struggling a bit!

A bad night last night, my knee was pretty painful and I struggled to get comfortable enough to get proper rest. I really don want to have another knee replacement, but was toying the idea over during the night! Pain killers and a knee support and I have managed pretty well today, so we will see. Spent the morning doing household chores and then got an early lunch. After that I caught the bus to Freeport thinking I might try walking home. The card shop there is closing down so went in to see if ai could find some more bargains, did get a couple of cards and was thinking of walking home but it started to rain and the wind built up so bused home instead.

I called in a Countdown when I got off the bus and bought two more plants, fragrant curly edged cyclamen. They are on the chair but haven’t made it to the garden yet, maybe tomorrow.

I took a picture of a pretty primula and a bed as things are beginning to grow now,.

Terry and Jean have a new cookery book which looked interesting so I decided to get a copy. I use the slow cooker quite a lot but could definitely be more adventurous!

Resting the leg now and may listen to my new cd again.

Another hat, afraid so Darren!

Darren rolls his eyes when I wear my hats, but more of that later!

It was a bit damp this morning but we went to the boot sale, had a nice toasted sandwich and a look round the few stalls that were there. I just bought three lovely primulas which are now in the ground.

I had a chat with Anya and then walked down to the front to have a coffee with Darren when he came out of the gym. On the way down I saw these two seagulls that stayed put as the cars went by.

After we had a coffee I decided to walk along the promenade where the artwork is displayed.

I walked part of the way back along the wintry looking trail.

My leg was really painful, in fact I thought it might give out so took pills and sat knitting this afternoon with a short break to get the new plants in. So, another hat completed!

Walk on the beach

After the groceries had been delivered and packed away I decided to go for a walk and took a flask as I was going to wear my spider hoodie which I can get on but cannot take off without help! That means that I cannot go in a cafe a I would be too hot! My leg was quite painful today so I nearly didn’t actually go on the beach and thought I would just go to the end of the lower prom! But when I got there it was such a lovely day that did walk on the beach for a while. Found a boulder to sit on and took some pills with my coffee to ease the walk home! A selection of photos.

That black spot in the sea was a surfer! I bought three pots of bulbs on the way home because they were pretty!

After lunch I did go in the garden for a while, I trimmed the edge of the bed that gave away a few days ago and had me end up on my bottom. The edge was full of worms, maybe that is why the birds have been pecking at it!

I did get the new plants into the ground as well.

Yesterday evening Tina went to a concert and bought me home a signed cd by Blair Dunlop, a singer songwriter who plays an acoustic guitar. Apparently his father was one of the founder members of Fairport Convection. I listened it this afternoon and it is my type of music.

Plenty of steps today so telefest this evening!

Chores and choppy sea

A couple of photos from yesterday. One is in the restaurant at the garden centre and the other of the church when I walked by.

The weather wasn’t great this morning and Bel thought we should give our meet up a miss. So I spent the morning on household chores. After lunch I walked to Jeans via the sea.

Nice chat with Jean and Terry brought me home in time to make a cuppa for Darren, as Tina was out for the evening. I suggested that Darren and I had fish and chips in the car before he went off to his club for the evening. Fabulous sea tonight.

I didn’t take many photos today, but it really doesn’t matter as I cannot transfer them as the phone had decided to disconnect from the WiFi and I am pinned down by the cat and cannot get downstairs to get the password!

This morning Shane, the Ringtons rep arrived before I went to Hull with Tina so I was able to get the teabags a friend had asked for. Tina had an appointment in Hull, I got the throw sent off to my sister and when Tina was finished we went to The Range as we needed a new toilet seat!

Then we went and had lunch at a garden centre.

When we got home I phoned Mark and said I would deliver the teabags. David had given me very sketchy directions and having walked about a mile having passed the house early on I delivered them, wet, cold and limping! Didn’t even get offered a cup of tea.

Tina got me a new coat today from them for Mothering Sunday, maybe a photo tomorrow!

Pandora is still quite happy pinning me to the chair!

Tried a new cafe with Angela

This morning Angela and I went to the new cafe for breakfast and a chat, haven’t seen her for a few weeks. When I came home Tina was off to take a service but mentioned she was out to lunch today, so I nipped in, got my bag and bus pass and caught the bus into Beverley, this time getting off at Flemingate. Walked past an impressive play area and the Minster.

I had a good wander round Art and Soul and bought a fabulous magnifying glass in Baytree Interiors.

I walked back into the town centre, had to stop at the barrier as a train was due.

Looked in a couple of shops as I was making my way to the bus station. 

I haven’t done a great deal since I got home, did a bit of pedalling to see if it helps or hinders the troublesome knee.
