Testing the leg and crafting!

I walked up to Freeport this morning and was limping well by the time I arrived, but after a sit down and a drink I decided to walk back rather than catch the bus. Passed these crocuses looking lovely among long grass on the way home.

My pace was slower on the way home and when I called in to see Sher at Botany Boutique I was glad of a sit down and she made me a cuppa. We had a good natter and she was telling me about having a stall at Beverley market on Saturday. She said it was exhausting but worth while.

After lunch I went to see Sarah and David for a couple of hours, they are off to South Africa for a month next week.

I did a bit more knitting before getting dinner.

Then after dinner I finished off the throw I was making.

Hands, knees and boomps a Daisy!

Well, hands, three ops and knees one op and today boomps a daisy on the wet earth in the garden! Muddy bottom but managed to get to my feet, which was great as it was about 6.30 am, nobody else up and the phone was indoors!

Our nearest post box is emptied once a day at 9 am and I had a card to post so walked down to the post office and of course came back via the sea,

Yesterday evening I started knitting another hat, I bought the wool when the family were here after Christmas!

I got lunch early as Tina needed to be out and then I went into the garden for a while and cleared an area by the wall which used to get like a jungle but is under better control now. I went down the road again as I wrote a letter and got it in the post for tomorrow mornings collection. The ‘elephants ears’ are in flower in the front garden.

Earlier this evening I sewed up the opening on the throw I have been making. Maybe I will do the quilting on it tomorrow or maybe not!

Will do a couple more rows of knitting this evening.

Reasonably busy

This morning I walked down to the sea and met Darren at the cafe where we had breakfast. We decided to give the boot sale a miss today. 

The window at the side of the cafe just looked out on buildings and they have now covered it with a great print.

I spent an hour or so in the garden, hoeing and trimming the edges of the beds. The lawn was mowed yesterday so it is looking better now.

This afternoon I cleared the dining room table and pinned together the squares, backing material and wadding.

I started to stitch then together before I got dinner and finished that and turned it out. I will sew up the opening and do some quilting on it another day. Relaxing with the cat now and about to watch Endeavour.

After an early trip to the shop and then helping with the grocery delivery I decided to take the bus into Beverley. I thought the us went via Flemingate, but it didn’t today so just had a wander through the town. Had a very delicious slice of lemon drizzle cake in the cafe that used to be in the antique centre.

I got a few bits in Paperchase which is closing down, and then I went to the antique centre and bought a lovely little Beswick wren.

On the way back to the bus station I spotted this colourful post office cart outside a pub!

The bus driver on the way home arrived about ten minutes ahead of time and I think he was practicing for a rally! Slammed the brakes on at a roundabout and went over a couple of kerbs!

This afternoon I carried on sewing strips and and joined some up then lid them out for a final arrangement.

Then got the top sewn together and ironed. May clear the large table downstairs and try and sandwich them together.

Just relaxing and watching the box this evening.

Visits and stitching!

Today I was able to make my usual Friday visits, it has been a little while as routines have been out of the window lately. Bel was fine, still has the cough but much improved. She is busy cutting out bunting as lots of people in the town are busy doing the same. The town will be festooned for the coronation weekend.

I sorted some things out in the greenhouse and the did a bit of sewing squares together. Then, after lunch Tina drove me to Jeans. A good couple of hours with Jean and Terry brought me home.

I carried on sewing strips of squares, making nine rows of eleven squares. All done.

And have started pressing them ready for the next stage.

Just watched Beyond Paradise, may press the other strips now.

Driffield and a bit of gardening

This morning Tina drove us up to the Men In Sheds building so that I could drop off a box of craft stuff for the Crafty Shedders, ie, the ladies that meet there! Then we went to Driffield for a wander round and some lunch. We haven’t been there for a while and it is a nice little town. I noticed this in a shop window, it was an interesting use of little crochet hearts which I found interesting as Isobel has been making little crochet herts.

We did do some shopping, mainly toiletries and socks, but I got these which I was pleased with, not that I need any coasters, but they were 99p each!

We watched a Bargain Hunt when we got back and then I went out into the garden for an hour. It really isn’t too bad but I hoes the walled garden and some flower beds and cleared around the path leading to the garden bin. Trying to keep on top of things before the weeds get too big, and at the moment ai am not sure when I will be off to Peterborough again.

I had arranged to go to Sal and Carol’s to have my haircut rather than them coming here as Darren isn’t ready for another cut yet. They phoned to say they were home and I walked down to there apartment. Went through the memorial garden and the beds are a bit sparse but getting quite colourful now.

Their apartment looks out on the sea, this photo is from outside the building but they are on the first floor so can see much more sea from there.

The hair is shorter now and more importantly thinned out!

Normal visiting day tomorrow which hasn’t happened for a few weeks!

Getting colder

I counted and bagged some coins yesterday so got them in the shopping trolley and walked to the post office. From there I walked up to the sea, just one photo as it was a bitterly cold wind.

I did some washing and some household chores and then sorted out some of the squares I had left over when I was making the table cover. I have been thinking of making a simple throw to use them and found a large piece of material that I can use for the backing. I sorted the squares into groups and will just sew several strips and then join then up. Sounds like a piece of cake!

When I was out I bought a little tray which matches the lap tray Darren bought me on Sunday.

I visited Sarah and David this afternoon, haven’t seen them for a while.

Still taking it easy and beginning to feel less tired. Tina bought me some flowers on her way home this evening so have got them into vases.

Going to watch ‘Piano’ this evening, a real feel good program.
