Onward and upward!

I didn’t have much sleep, not because of the op which didn’t give me too much bother, just wasn’t a sleeping night, but I was happy laying there on my back with the cat sprawled out on me for hours as I have no pain my legs when I lay on my back,m but just can’t sleep! So I was up at 5.30, fed the birds in the garden with the help of the outside light and then headed off to the sea front to see the sunrise! Have to say I felt great this morning. I took a photo as I went through the memorial garden and then there are a couple of pre sunrise shots and several as the sun was rising. I even walked on the beach today!

I hadn’t taken cards or cash out with me as I was going to get some cash from the machine and buy some cards so when I got home I headed out again nd then a third of time to post the cards! 

The thing that was most uncomfortable yesterday was the cannula in my right arm which he had two attempts to get in, it has left quite a bruise.

After Ringtons had been and Tina’s delivery for the second door cover for the new fridge has arrived we went out had had lunch at Eastfield garden centre and then off the Filey Bird and animal park. We were enjoying out lunch when a man fell off his chair and crashed into mine on the way down. Luckily not getting my arm or I may have been on the floor as well! I had to move my chair nd he wa on the floor for some time but all was well in the end! We left a garden centre without buying anything which is probably a first!

Then off to the bird park, I didn’t take too many pics there but had to take some. The young turkey in the first pic came close and wa chatting away to us which was most unusual. There are three slightly out of focus ones at the end as the large Perot was doing its best to attack me nd wa crashing at the wire!

Hospital day!

Trying to keep calm as I am off for my op and Margherita off for her major op, not the best timing for blood pressure control. I fed the birds early and walked down to the post box then sat quietly and read before it was time to set off. We got to the hospital in good time in case they had changed the venue again! But all was well and I was taken to a private room. That was midday and I didn’t actually go to theatre until gone three. The test results weren’t looked at and my blood pressure was okay, in fact when the surgeon came in to go through everything he said he wasn’t too worried about the blood pressure! I told them Margherita was having major surgery and they were happy for my phone to be in theatre and would answer it for me.

The team in theatre were all lovely and Mr Haeney talked me through what he was doing. As soon as he had opened up the wound he said he could Dee immediately why the nerve was unhappy, the was a large amount of scar tissue compressing it so he was stripping it away. I had several pains going on so the tourniquet didn’t seem so bad even though it was on for twenty three minutes.I had a blood pressure band on my leg and a very uncomfortable cannula in my other arm! Before he stitched the wound he asked if I wanted to look at it. Of course! Very interesting and the unhappy nerve was blue.

I was then wheeled to recovery for a while on the bed and then to the room. Was there for a while, had a cuppa and a jacket potatoes. A nurse helped me get dressed and Tina collected me about 7 pm. Before I left I managed to get through to Peterborough hospital and my sister was back on the ward and about to have something to ear, so good news there.

I am feeling fine, a bit sore but positive. Tina got me a present, we had spotted them last week at the antique place at Skirlaugh garden centre,

I am sitting listening to a cd and have a cat on my lap for a change.

Unexpected challenge!

This morning I took the shopping trolley down to the pet shop a I wanted to get some fat balls for the birds. I got a tub and as the old price, she wa just pricing the new stock and they were over a pound more! Also got a feeder cage for the suet blocks that is easier to fill. I got something in for lunch on the way back. Tina had lots of washing to get done and the new fridge freezer was being delivered today. I went out into the garden to make sure all the bird food containers were full in my cupboard so it is organised while Tina helps me out for a while. Then I did work on one more bed and cut the rest of the rhubarb which I sent round to the ladies at Families at Three,

The freezer came at lunch time, no picture yet as one of the door panels didn’t arrive! 

We have discussed getting curtains across the bay window in the main sitting room as it is drafty and has lots of glass. But it is very big! So after lunch we went on a curtain hunt in Hull. We needed a three hundred centimetre drop and the largest ready made have a two hundred cans twenty eight centimetre drop! Ended up buying four curtains for me to make into two the right size. The bay is wide as well, so quite a lot of material to work with.

We visited a couple of other shops and Tina got me this ultra sensible present!

The traffic was terrible on the way home and it tipped down with rain, took well over an hour to get home from Hull. Some travel shots!

This was one of the larger curtains that I was intending to make larger, only half of it as it is folded to get it on the bed.

I have spent about three hours getting them together, a photo when the pole is in place. Not a great job but hopefully they will do the job!

That is why I am blogging later tonight.

Unnecessary stress!

Today I had to do a lateral flow test and was worried ai wouldn’t remember how to register it. The last time I was told ai had to have one the result was never checked. This time I have to do one today and on Wednesday and as I am going into the hospital they probably will check. Anyway, that went okay and I have the proof on the phone and on email! But today my sister was due to have her leg amputated so that was on my mind. I check my blood pressure which was way too high so read up what drinks can help calm anxiety, then off to the shop to buy camomile tea! Have had three mugs of that and going to steer clear of the caffeine. I did have a lower reading a bit later in the day, so hopefully I can keep it in check. 

I needed to be active so went into the garden before and after lunch. Worked on beds I have cleared fairly recently, but hopefully not too many more weeds will decide to appear now it is getting colder. I will post before and afters together of each bit!

Blue raced up the tree when she spotted a squirrel, it was soon on its way!

From about two I started trying to get through to my sisters ward, firstly to see what time they thought there would be some news. But I continued trying all afternoon and they just weren’t picking up. Around four thirty I tried the main reception and a lovely lady tried a couple of times but she couldn’t get through either, said if I called back in half an hour they would try again for me. Getting on for five I thought I would try again, got through on the third attempt to be  told that the nurse had been going to phone me but they couldn’t find my number as my sister didn’t have the operation today and it will be on Wednesday, which had been the original plan! I heard her ‘find’ number, funny that. So I can worry about it again on Wednesday when I am due to have my hand surgery! Wish me luck with the blood pressure…….

Tina is due home a bit later that expected so Darren took me down the road and I had a pensioners fish and chips and Darren had sausages and chips.

The sky was quite pretty.

I’ve got a bit of a headache, but feeling more relaxed now, perhaps it is the camomile tea!

Household chores and stubborn jigsawing!

I have tackled some of the bigger jobs in the house today, so have gone way above my step count without leaving the house! Won’t bore you with the details, but feel like I have had some exercise.

But I also spent a fair bit of time on the jigsaw and it is finished, I am fairly sure a few of the tree pieces are in the wrong place but they fit!

I bought that bun tray that will fit the Ninja yesterday so thought I had better have a go at making small cakes in there this afternoon. They turned out pretty well, so getting to grips with it now.

My sister is having pretty major surgery tomorrow so hoping my blood pressure doesn’t spike too much as I have my second wrist operation on Wednesday. Will endeavour to keep cool, calm and collected!

I have enjoyed Strictly this weekend and the first result show this evening, seemed like a fair result.

Beverley, garden and frustrating jigsaw!

I went over to the bus stop at eight thirty as I didn’t want to do a repeat and miss the bus! I remembered my shop cards nd  just went to The Body Shop and Lakeland then a refreshment break and home by 11.20. I should have mentioned feeding the birds early on as we had rain and storm in the night and the tall sunflower plant was a casualty. So I cut some of the blooms nd have them indoors now,

I had a voucher to get 20% off at Lakeland if I spent £50. At the till my purchases came to £43 but I had a very helpful lady and ended up getting two extra items and only had £41 to pay!

This afternoon I decided to tidy up on the main bed in the back garden.

I spent quite a while on the jigsaw. Working on the large tree I have got down to six pieces left and they don’t fit. I keep looking but cannot see which ones are wrong. If I ever get this particular tree finished I will be over half way!

Just enjoyed Strictly, time for a cuppa now,

Change of plan!

The fridge of the fridge freezer in the kitchen has been on the blink for a while, making weird noises etc. but in its favour it used to be very cold, almost too cold. We had a brief power cut last night and Darren and Tina said that it made a very weird noise! This morning everything was warm and the fridge part had finally given up the ghost. Tina has ordered a new one to arrive on Tuesday. She and Darren are away at the weekend and Tina was busy all day today so I decided to set to and get stuff moved out and it cleaned. Also got a couple of things out of the freezer part to defrost before going to see Bel doe and hour or so a planned. I did a few minutes on the jigsaw first thing, very, very slow progress!

The rest of the day was pretty much kitchen bound. I prepared the vegetable I had in the fridge and put them on to make soup. I had put ready made pastry and sausage meat out to defrost and managed to make some reasonable sausage rolls in the Ninja Max.

I had mince put to defrost as well and went to the sh to get a few more potatoes then made a cottage pie. Managed to cook that in the new machine as well. I emptied the fridge, cleaned it all out and stored perishables I my little fridge upstairs. It is surprising how much time I spent with not a lot to show for it.

May catch the bus into Beverley tomorrow if it has stopped raining by then. Not complaining, we had some proper rainfall today which is great news, and I don’t really mind if it continues tomorrow,
