Good bit of gardening!

This morning I thought I would tackle the front corner of the front garden, didn’t take a ‘before’ picture, which is a shame as I spent a couple of hours, loads of weeds, especially under the fir tree and I also got the edging tool out!

I took a couple of photos of the willows in the garden as they have their catkins.

I caught the bus up to Freeport this afternoon for no particular reason. Just bought a few sweets and had a coffee and then caught the bus home. While I was getting my tea the sky became very stormy.

I did do a bit of colouring last night but will take pictures when I have made them into cards.

Feeling a bit better

Today the knee has been a little easier so I have managed to do a bit more, will endeavour not to overdo it though! This morning I took a photo of the cowslips and brunnera after I fed the birds as they are looking so pretty. Then when I went to the shop I took one of the magnolia in the front garden. Just one flower last year but half a dozen now it is in the ground. The one in the back garden isn’t so advanced.

I punched the drainage holes through on the troughs for the new stand then used one of the bags of compost to get it ready for planting. Got some of the plants we got on Thursday into the troughs and then took a break!

After a short break I got some plants into the front and then hoed the bed round the lawn at the back and put the last of the plants in there. I had some naturtian seeds a while ago and planted some direct into the troughs.

I went and sat in the summer house for a bit. A robin was on the blue feeder but it was at the distant tree so I had the camera on ridiculously high zoom, you can tell what it is though.

And managed to get one of a long tailed tit.

I think it was a different robin in the tree, not too clear though, the camera focused on the branches!

When I came in I made a sponge cake as Darren has now finished his Christmas cake. Then started a bit of colouring before getting dinner. Have been to see Sarah and David this evening so now relaxing until bedtime.

Boot sale and card making

This morning it had been raining and was still a bit damp in the air, so we went a bit later to the boot sale so if nothing was happening we could have breakfast at the market. Our usual breakfast place was open and there were a few soups with their wares and I did get some bits. The tin is empty, but I liked it and I like liquorice Allsorts too! I think the embroidery will be beautiful and a good think to do when I am recuperating.

Darren drove back via the sea front so that I could take pictures! A big fishing competition on this weekend.

I made up a couple of cards from the black colouring pad that I got a little while ago, I had coloured another one yesterday.

Darren took me to the garden centre this afternoon. We had coffee and cake and bought compost, not tempted by anything else which is probably a first!

I made a couple more cards before getting dinner, this time I used an embossing folder that I bought on Thursday.

Had a bad night with the knees and hands last night, knee has been pretty sore all day but hoping for a better night tonight!

Little planting, more cooking!

This morning I went and got shopping in early ready to do a bit of batch baking later. Then I went into the Coffee Stop in the parish hall and met Lunny, that meant that I could give her a birthday card for next week. Yesterday John left quite a lot of primulas for us as his garden is overflowing with them. It rained early but brightened up so I did manage to get them planted. Just took a picture of them still under the bench at the front of the house.

I have spent pretty much all afternoon batch baking, there are now two varieties of cottage pie and some fish pie in the freezer. But what a lot of clearing away there was! My knees are not too happy.

Talking of knees reminded me that I have received a date for the surgery today. 26th March so not that long now. I went out to take a picture of the sun just going down, not colourful pictures but went out again a bit later. Short on pictures today!

Decoupage class and zoning out!

This morning was my second craft taster session for the Welcome Centre. I am really struggling with the knees but took pills and was ready when Sarah arrived to take me to the hall. It turned out to be a great session with thirteen ladies happily cutting and glueing! I will put a lot of pics of finished work and work in progress.

A great variety of objects and a really happy atmosphere while they were working. One of the ladies that came to the first session brought me a tin of buttons which was really kind.

I had lunch with Tina when I got home and really have done very little this afternoon, feeling tired and in quite a lot of pain, so time to give the legs a rest. Tina is out for a meal with friends tonight so Darren and I went along to the sea front and had fish and chips sitting in the car! Then a quick look at the sea, the sky was a subtle pink this evening.

A quiet evening and an early night I think,
