I did a sketch of my mother’s day posy yesterday evening.
Today I have spent a reasonable amount of time in the garden, I did take another photo of the raised bed that I finished off yesterday.
The side of the garden had a lot of snowdrops, so I left starting to clear it until they had stopped flowering, then was going to dig them up to replant later. I don’t think the edge under the bushes has been cleared for a long time. On the face of it this garden will be child’s play. But on a closer look the ground elder, which was a nightmare in Hornsea has run riot here. It is up to the back under the bushes and the runners go under the grass. This is what it looks like, this was the amount of root I had from that small area, and it is not clear., and you can see it is up behind where I dug.On a brighter note Pandora likes being out in the garden while I am working.

That is a lovely drawing of the posy. You make it look so easy.
ReplyDeleteIt may be a small garden. Well let’s be honest most gardens are compared to the gigantic one in Hornsea. I’m sure you’ll still have your work cut out to keep this one in order. Seems you’re making a good start though. Couldn’t you just extend all the borders and grass them over. It’d be so much easier ๐ What are you going to grow in the raised bed, a bit of veg?
Snowdrops and ground elder follow you around! Both are a bit of a nightmare. You’ll be gigging up roots forever more.
Looks like nice weather for you and Pandora to be out there though. Enough work for one day.
Your hair looks good. Can’t see any bald patches where her hand slipped with the scissors ๐
Darren must have set off early this morning to get there in the afternoon. He just wanted the pizza ๐
I can imagine the holly not being easy to draw, but with me everything is hard, or even impossible to draw ๐
Enjoy Comic Relief.
I am pleased I drew the posy, then I can look at it when the flowers die, although they are still looking good at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThis small garden will definitely give me a challenge, when the postman came today he said he had been coming for ten years and it has never been tended. Story of my life and of vicarage’s it seems!
Pandora liked being out with me, there was a man going up and down with a wheelbarrow of logs, she would normally be scampering indoors, but with me outside with her she sat of the fence and watched.
The lady doing my hair didn’t use thinning scissors, mor a sort of razor cut, but the result is good.
The holly was twisted, not like the traditional pics, so interesting to try and draw.
I am having a few minutes from work and catching up you are looking well xx love seeing your sketches
