Mothering Sunday

Today I had a chat with Anya earlier than usual which was nice, then I went to the service, Tina’s first Mothering Sunday here. It was a family service so we had shakers or tambourines to use when singing the hymns. There were refreshments afterwards and everyone stays to have a chat.

Tina and I got ready to go out then and get some lunch, we hadn’t booked anywhere but took a chance. She had read about a farm that had a restaurant not far away but the queue for food there was ridiculously long, so we bought nice things from the deli counter to take home. I did take some pics on the way, the first one was trying to catch the wire bird in the trees!

Then we set off to find an ice cream parlour we had seen signs for but ended up in another farm with a restaurant and they had room, so we had dinner out after all. I had the vegetable wellington and it was a lovely meal.
They had highland cows there so we went to have a look. There was a baby in the background lying down and the mum was washing the other adult, it was very cute.
There was a walk you could take so we will probably go there again.

We have had a quiet time since we got back and had some of the goodies for tea. I am now back in my own room, complete with cat and relaxing. It has been a very nice day.

  1. I’m really pleased you’ve had such a good day on Mother’s Day. It looks like the weather was kind to you too. The church service was a bit different. I’ve never heard of the tambourines coming out before. Thought that was the Sally Army 😊
I can imagine most places were busy at lunchtime today. But you were lucky with the second place as the meal looks delicious and it’s a great place to visit. Definitely one to add to the “go again” book.
When I read that you were trying to catch the wire bird, I guessed the spellcheck had inserted a random word in there and I was trying to work out what it really should have been, then I actually saw the wire bird in the pic. Doh! 😂
Back to normality tomorrow I suppose. Mind you it’s a special day tomorrow too. It’s National Panda Day. You should have another easy day!

  2. The weather was kind although there was a chilly wind today.
The first farm had lots of interesting things to look at and yummy food to purchase. We have decided to try again some time, but not a ‘special’ day.
The second place was great too, and there is a lot of work going on there as more features are being added. The highland cows were a bonus too.
A nice quiet evening is rounding off a nice day, and I have a happy cat as she was on her own a lot today!
