Maybe it’s time to give them away!

The bonsai trees thar I have kept going for years, I think the oldest one is about twenty years old, needed the roots pruning as I didn’t do it last year. I have eleven pots to work on, it was a chilly morning and as it has been so wet the soil around the roots was matted and sodden. As I have difficulty bending down now and I kept knocking things off the table it was a painful exercise. Getting up and down from the chair was a challenge too. Anyway, I was outside about three hours, it began to rain a couple of times but it soon cleared and the trees are all done. I have asked someone to make a stand for them and began to think better of it, but as they are done I suppose I will hang onto them for a while. I made a temporary working area so a few pics.

Actually just three photos. We had lunch and had a quiet afternoon until it was time to get Pandora into the carrier to take her to the vet. We managed that pretty quickly today she was asleep and I manage to pick her up when she was drowsy! She was soon fighting me but I held on to her long enough to get her into the carrier Tina was holding open. Luckily the vets is only a few minutes drive away so not too distressing for her. The vet and the veterinary nurse were just so lovely, stroking her lifting the box onto the floor so she could look round and were both on the ground coaxing her. So caring and we were in there over half an hour, she had her jab and they changed her flea collar for us. We have to go again in a month for follow up injections and a more thorough examination if she is calmer.
I am forgiven as she has been on my lap this evening.

  1. I know the bonsai are hard work when you have to do the roots, but it would be a shame to let them go after all these years. Maybe once they’re all looking fresh now they’ve got room for the roots to breathe, and they’re on a nice new stand, you’ll change you mind. You’ll probably have an oak to add to your collection soon. Maybe a bigger table to work on would help next time too. And a bit of warming sunshine 😊
You did very well to get Pandora in the carrier so quickly. I won’t say easily 🙂 The experience for her must have been better with the obviously very nice vet and nurse. They seem to do everything better up there. Hopefully next time Pandora won’t be so stressed about it and will grow to love going. Ok, that probably is a bit much to ask 😂 At least you’ve been forgiven quickly.
I’m guessing she’s probably on your lap again now.

  2. Yes, I may as well enjoy them this year providing they all survive. They do usually do okay after the root pruning. Hopefully he will get back to me soon to talk about the stand.
Yes, Pandora is back on my lap, she has got crack to her usual routine quickly this time.
