Garden and the Hermitage

I went out fairly early today to carry on where I left off yesterday. It was more clearing of ground elder and ivy roots from under the bushes and to get the area as root free as possible.

Pandora was out with me for some of the time, Tina snapped this when I had been to empty the pot of roots.
I made a reasonable clearance, but no more plants to put on. I was out for almost two hours.
Quite a few stones to add to the collection today!
We had an early lunch and I asked Tina to give me a lift to the Hermitage and I could walk back. When there I made my way up to a bench that we had discovered the other evening, I looked t the view and hd my doubts, but decided to do a sketch anyway.
I just took a couple of picture at the Hermitage, not the view I was sketching though!

Then a couple on the way down to Inver.

I love the river when going down the underpass.
No, they are not upside down! Instead of going up the other side I decided to take the Birnam path along by the river. Hadn’t been along there before, it mad a longer walk, but I was tired so going slowly!
Went across this and took a pic from it.
Found this tree interesting.
I path, I could see a fork in the river from here.
ST on this bench and could see the cathedral on the other side.
Another interesting tree.

Then at last, the bridge.

I carried on along the Birnam path rather than walk through the village.
I wondered if the thin tree here was a sappling from the huge tree trunk.
Some pretty white flowers on the way.
I was glad to get home but had enjoyed trying a different path.
Not going to be much more to add today, will finish practice shading drawing I did yesterday evening.

  1. It looks like the weather was pleasant going by the pics. It certainly looks better than it did when you started. More plants to buy now. You should keep tack of what you spend on plants and bits. It’ll shock the hell out of you in years to come 😂 You’re building up the pile of stones. I think you’ll definitely have to make a rockery somewhere out there.
Glad you got out for one of your more leisurely hobbies. You always have your doubts when you start a sketch, but it looks good to me. It is beautiful there. The reflections in the river always look good, especially when it’s dead calm like that. I also love the tiny bridges. I’m sure it’ll be a long time before you’re totally bored with it all 😊
A great series of pics on the way back. It’s good to see all the different views you see. There are some great trees there too. I really like the pic of the bridge with the nice sky, water, trees etc.
I’m sure you’ll find lots more things to photograph as you explore further afield too.
The shading on the fruit is really good. You feel as though you could actually reach and touch them.
Is there anything your rubbish at? 😊

  2. It was good weather today a.though the wind got up and that was a bit chilly, but I had to take my coat off when I was walking home.it was lovely to have such a lot of the walk alongside the river, I would come back from the Hermitage that way again. I have some heather plants on order that was supposed to be here today. Only eight though and I hd planned to have them in the box bed.
I quite enjoyed the pencil shading class and the same lady is doing a pen drawing class in a couple of weeks nanda I have booked a place on that one. If I get fitter, rather than fit to drop, I m sure I will explore some more!
