Noel, the painter arrived quite early today and has been working steadily. It is slow progress but he is cleaning the masonry around the windows and is going to paint the sills. He finished off the French windows in the spare bedroom and worked on the outside of one of the bedrooms and one of the small windows in the dining room.
I popped out briefly a few times, took a bag of stuff to the charity shops, then along the road to post a birthday card and then along to Number Nine and had a chat with Haley and booked another workshop.
After lunch I went out with the strimmer to try and tidy the path be the front wall and the area where the brown bin is. I was soon using the hoe as the strimmer wasn clearing it that well.
I will visit Be, for an hour tomorrow morning but have asked Jean to come to me so that I am not out too much of the day while Noel is here.
I suppose it’s going to be a pretty slow job doing the windows. It’s certainly not a job I’d look forward to, and definitely not on my own! This will be a job he’ll be glad to see the back of! I’ve never understood why anyone would choose to take up painting and decorating for a living ๐
ReplyDeleteAt least you weren’t totally tied to the house for the day. Even just getting away for a few short times makes a difference.
The path at the front must have some good quality growing soil under it. It seems to grow at least twice as fast as anywhere else! It does look nice again now, but you might be a bit ambitious hoping it’ll last until winter ๐ค
You must have missed your chicken and chips this evening. I know you like that. It does make more sense to have it on the Friday instead though.
Enjoy what’ll hopefully be a relaxing evening, no doubt some of it with the cat ๐
Ever the optimist, that’s me! I am sure the weeds take a rest in colder months!
ReplyDeleteNoel has said he thinks he will be 4 to 6 weeks getting the windows painted!
It is nice to feel okay leaving him to get on for a while, stops me thinking I should be in the garden more.
