First window painting day

Noel, the painter, arrived a bit later than planned as the traffic was very bad from Hull. Tina and I worried that he wouldn’t be able to lift the secondary glazing unit on his own. He made a start in the bathroom as the windows aren’t quite as large upstairs. He undid all the screws on the secondary glazing but couldn’t move it. He asked if I had contact details for the window repairer, I did and contacted him so that they could have chat. Meanwhile I showed him the french doors in the spare room and he made a start on them.

I decided to start gong through my cupboards in the kitchen as part of my mission to reduce my belongings. I sent a pic of plates I had painted and sent it to Caroline at the Potteries. She said she would like the spider ones a they would remind her of me.
Noel was very brave to go out onto the porch roof, I was worried he would end up going through it!

I got a box full of stuff ready for the charity shop so took it along when it stopped raining,

Noel didn’t manage to get the secondary glazing down from the bathroom window but he thinks he may be able to from the other windows that don’t seem to be so tightly fitted.
I made a crumble this afternoon and this evening I visited Sarah and David. More of the same tomorrow and maybe for. Few weeks!
NB I have no ide why some words are in red, there was an icon in the corner of the screen I couldn’t get rid of, so maybe touching it caused the change!

  1. Funnily enough I was going to ask about the red words, but when I got to the end of your entry I read your comment. Very odd.
Those windows have been nothing but trouble! I can imagine the painter is not a happy man. Sashes are horrible to paint in the first place without have the added bother of secondary glazing. Some of those windows are huge too. Rather him than me! It’s a bit like painting the Forth bridge. By the time he’s done they’ll want doing again. I bet when he was on the porch roof he seriously thought about jumping off 😊
You’ll have nothing left soon. You’ve got rid of so many things lately. But I do understand you wanting to thin things out. I desperately need to do the same, but don’t have your willpower or get up and go to do it! The pans in the box look nice. Someone will be in for a bargain there. That trolley has had a fair bit of use.
I bet Darren was happy with a crumble. Hope there was a big pot of cream in the fridge 🙂

  2. First things first, there was a new pot of cream in the fridge!
I will be dreaming of windows soon, it is turning into quite a saga!
Noel now thinks it will take him four to six weeks, I will have definitely have had enough of them by then. The men were here cutting the lawns today as well, so it was all systems go! I wonder what excitement tomorrow will bring.
