This morning I went to the fused glass workshop with Jude. Three other ladies there, a nice friendly group. The practice yesterday had given me more confidence but I wasn’t sure I would get it finished today. I thinkJude had her doubts at first as well as she said that perhaps it would lend itself to stained glass. But in the end I managed the cutting, not quite the same as my design but hopefully obvious what it is. I am very pleased with it and looking forward to seeing it fused on Friday.
It will look quite different on a stand with light behind it, I am go to another workshop there next week and hope to do a plant with big leaves.I saw Sher at Botany and she gave me the latest Prop Squad cutting, this time it’s ‘string of pearls’.
I hope that ne takes. The one I started in water about a month ago has a root and a shoot!
This afternoon I have been cleaning the kitchen so not overly exciting, starting getting the house ready for Tina’s return.May write some signs for my stall at the garden market on Saturday now.
I’m pleased you enjoyed the workshop today. I think the glass cutting lesson yesterday was a really good idea, and judging by the result of today it gave you a good grounding in the skill. I know you were a bit disappointed that you couldn’t use yesterdays glass, but it was probably for the best as it’s made you “go for it”. I’m looking forward to seeing the final result. You can do it all again next week ๐
ReplyDeleteYou do really well with cuttings. You seem to be able to get anything to grow, even the ones that look dead!
Do you ever sit down and relax? Workshops, horticulture, housework, signs! I’ve helped build a summerhouse today, but I still swear you’ve done more than me ๐
Jude is very welcoming and has lots of glass and to cut and plenty of trays of pieces that you can use if you don’t want to do the cutting but make a design with a good variety of things to choose from. She only has four people at a time so it is very relaxed. I can’t wait to see mine fused and the light shining through it.
ReplyDeleteOn the whole my plants and cuttings do well, I still have the poinsettia which must be getting on for eight years old now. Poinsettias are usually dead before they get to Christmas!
I do sit and relax, couldn’t get away without providing a lap for Pandora now and again!
