Change of plans

I had messaged someone at the diocese yesterday to see if there was any idea when and if the painters would arrive today. I didn’t have a reply so was up and dressed by eight and did a bit to the jigsaw for a while. I will have this one finished this week as it is as easy as the other one was difficult! I waited until ten and then phoned the guy from the diocese, he said he had messaged the contractor when he got my message yesterday but had had no reply. He said he would phone him and get back to me. When he called back he said that they were delayed because of the weather and would come next week. He was not happy as the date had been set weeks ago and the windows really need to be painted before the wether turns. He said he told them that why need to start this week and had given the painter my details to arrange a date. He did phone, said he was behind with his jobs so will probably not start until next week, then he asked if he could call round this evening to look at the windows. That arranged I decided to take myself out for a bit.

I went to the banking hub and a lady that I have spoken to a few times was in the queue before me. She was feeling down as a lady who she thought of as a younger sister had died and she was helping with the funeral arrangements. I asked if she would like to go for a coffee and she jumped at the idea. She is a local author and funnily enough I am reading one of her books at the moment.

We had a coffee in a chat in a cafe that neither of us had been in before.  She seemed much more cheerful when we parted company. I then walked down to the front and back via the trail.

I went to see Sarah and David this afternoon so more chatting!
The painter did come to the house this evening and said the job will take him a couple of weeks and he will start next Monday or Tuesday! He will contact me to let me know when to expect him, I won’t be holding my breath. I send an update to the diocese and have a different week to the one I expected now.

  1. Tradesmen, if you can call them that, just don’t care these days! Rather than pick up a phone and apologise for a delay and explain why, they seem to think people are clairvoyant! If I were in charge of the diocese I’d be tempted to give them the boot and find another, and better painter to do the job. Luckily not everyone thinks like me 😊 At least he eventually turned up to have a look. I’m guessing that Monday or Tuesday might actually translate to Thursday or Friday or the week after! Good job you’re a lot more patient than me 😂
That was nice of you to offer to take the lady for a coffee. It sounds like it helped cheer her up a bit. Bit of a coincidence that you are reading one of her books at the moment! In fact spooky 👻 Did you arrange another coffee at some point?
I’m sure you’ll fill your week with other things now painting is off the schedule. Try to make it easy nice things….not back breaking gardening 😂😂

  2. May do some gardening this week, will see how I feel, will at least get the few plants in.
Hopefully the painter will arrive early next week and get the windows protected before the weather gets really bad.
Didn’t make any arrangements to see Wendy again but may bump into her gain around the town.
