Boot sale and latest idea!

We enjoyed our trip to the boot sale, I didn’t manage to go round all the stalls but sat in the car with my puzzle book while Darren toured the rest. I took some photos of some great models made by one of the stall holders. Bought another small one as I fell in love with it!

I bought the hand made earrings and a large jar which I hope Sher will like.
Darren drove back via the sea which was nice, although a little misty.
A couple of day ago I cut out foam to see if I could make my weeding stool into something I can actually use. Measured out material, really struggled to get the form in and worked out ties. I tried it indoors nd it may work, but actually using it outside will be the real test!
Dinner done and dusted, not more crafty stuff today.

Tip trip and museum visit

I had told Darren I wanted to get to the tip today as we had a broken airer and an exercise bike to go. I decided to empty out a cupboard where there was a broken table and lots of very large boxes. Broke the boxes down so the cardboard was all in one box and then took the screwdriver and hammer to the table!
After Darren hd been to the gym we loaded the car up and took a trip to the tip, that was a good job done.
The bird buddy needed charging nd when it was ready to go I took it out into the garden. I went to get seed out of the store. A squirrel scurried out a hole that has made the store completely useless! I have now had to move it all back into the greenhouse for now except the ammo box!
I will look into getting a metal store use the greenhouse for plants while the bird food is in there as if I leave the window open a fraction or the door the squirrels run havoc in there!
I went down to the shop with some soft plastic to recycle a they have a bin near the entrance. The museum had a special event on and for the first time in its history they had people in costume in all the rooms and were selling drinks and cakes. I had a wander round so will now just overload you with pics!

Sat at a desk in the school room, there were slates to write on. The writing tool was slate as well, made a good mark and the rubbed off easily with a dry cloth.

That picture of the museum was edible!
There is an exhibition of Hornsea pottery over the years, and other collectible pottery.

Loved these painted tiles.
Last one before leaving.

Beautiful open tulips in the garden as I came back in.
Went out in the garden for a while to sit on the swing. I liked the look of the trees overhead.
Will finish with a pen sketch I did while sitting in the garden.

Visitors and a new idea?

Bel came round on her buggy this morning, she was in good humour and we had a good natter, I took a photo of the multicoloured flowers on the plant that is in the wallflower family in the front garden when she was leaving.
I went to the shop and then prepared something for dinner as Darren goes out and I wasn’t sure how long Jean would come for this afternoon. Terry dropped her off and she stayed for a couple of hours, then he collected her. She is having trouble with one of her knees as well so cannot manage much walking.
I had been thinking about gardening and how to do the weeding. I cannot kneel so there stool/kneeling pad isn’t too useful. But I have foam left from making a window seat cover and wondered if I made a deep cushion for it maybe I could rest on it. I got the foam out and tried to cut some pieces of similar size to make a deep cushion. Need to work out what material to use and work out ties to keep it in place. May not work but worth a try!

I took a photo of the back garden through the landing window, shows the beds better.
I have been trying to get the number of the She-can gardener but not in the local traders booklet or the local paper. Bel said she would ask her neighbour who phones her for a chat every evening and has lived in the town for a long time. I looked out of the window this evening and her van was parked in view on the road so ai now have the number in case I decide I need some help with the weeding.
The knee isn’t good this evening, feeling like it wants to give out on me again, so not moving about much tonight.
Will finish with another memory photo, didn’t catch many of sparrows when I was taking bird pics more regularly.

Doctor and more walking!

I managed to get through to the surgery and got an appointment this morning. It is a reasonable distance to the surgery, well, by my recent standards anyway, and no resting points on my usual route. So I left with oodles of time to spare and went via the memorial garden and the sea front. Had a sit down in the memorial gardens.
Quite a grey day.

I had plenty of time so had a hot chocolate and the sun tried to break through.

The doctor was very pleasant, he recorded the consultation as he had an assessment. He is arranging for me to have an X-ray and prescribed another course of the pills I have been taking.
Yesterday I emptied some terrarium containers when I was trying to make my sitting room less cluttered, so after lunch I took them round to
Sher at the plant shop. When I went out to feed the birds I took a couple of pictures in the garden as the tulips are coming into bloom now.

This evening, instead of takeaway, Darren suggested we go down to the fish and chip place and had a meal there. That was really nice so now feeling very well fed! Quite a lot of walking today so feet up this evening.
Tina sent me three pictures from Zimbabwe, she will be travelling to a more rural place tomorrow so may not be in touch for a week now.

That was banana trees and a huge poinsettia. The last one is a bird of paradise plant.

Tina safely In Zimbabwe

Not a lot to say today, a few chores this morning and Pandora deciding to check out a cupboard!
I talked to Angela nd she picked me up to go for lunch at the garden centre, that made a nice change and we chatted for a good while. She wa looking after Holly, a little dog, who was very well behaved.
Back home I decided to make start on tidying the landing, there has been an exercise bike and. Broken aired there, amongst other things, for way too long. I also started on my sitting room which has become more ns more cluttered, so some things going into cupboards and some might be on their way to the charity shop!
Had an email from Tina saying she has arrived safely in Harare after almost twenty four hours travelling. She sent a picture of the garden where she is staying.
Will finish with another memory photo, this one of Scarborough castle. Doubt I will ever manage climbing up to that again, but you never know,

Not a lot to report!

It has been a bit of a strange day. On Thursday I was sitting downstairs waiting to take a package in for Darren, heard the post drop through the box and underneath it was a card saying they had tried to deliver the package and a number to rearrange delivery! I had been sat in the dining room so that was very frustrating and a pain for Darren not getting it for the long weekend. I phoned and arranged for delivery today. So this morning I had no radio, tv or music on and waited around downstairs a the delivery men have always run off by the time I get down the stairs! I also put a note on the door just in case!
It wasn’t delivered until almost 2 pm. I did go out in the garden and tried to do a bit of weeding but soon gave up on that. Nice wallflowers and an honesty in the very overgrown bed by the front of the house. No one notices that from the street!
Tina ordered me an ammo box to keep the fat balls in, a ch Allende too far for the squirrels! That arrived just before Darren’s package.
I walked round to see Sher at the plant shop for a while this afternoon, we always manage to have a giggle. Haven’t done much else, will try and be a bit more motivated tomorrow. Will add a photo from a few years back, wonder if that was the cupboard wrecking culprit!

Big day for Darren and Tina.

An unusual day, Darren’s birthday and Tina getting ready to go on her adventure to Zimbabwe. After cards and gifts they went off to get some more dollars for Tina’s trip and to get me some more fat balls (thanks to the terror squirrels I don’t have any!). We had dinner at lunch time and after Tina had finished off church business she got on with packing.
It began to rain hard but I decided to get to the shop for some fresh rolls for tea. The water was running along the street, but you can’t really tell.
The tulips are opening in the main bed in the front garden.
I took the new boxes of fat balls down to the store, although I may have to rethink the storage.
I spent yesterday evening trimming used stamps I have been collecting and this afternoon I made a card.
We had tea together and Tina set off for Mirfield. She has arrived there safely and flies out tomorrow.
I will finish with a photo from three years ago.
