Last night I did the orange dye on the shirts, they do get brighter as they dry.
The clouds were quite pretty yesterday evening.
I caught the bus to town this morning, had coins to pay in and they have a swanky new machine there now that doesn't reject most of the coins. Drizzly most of the day today so I had a damp walk to the studio. Didn't offer to do the pots today, got on with the snail for Sandy.
Should be quite colourful when glazed and fired. Sandy had an appointment so I watched the shop and got on with my final bowl.
Only one other Potty Pensioner arrived so I made sure he had what he needed and made him a cup of tea. Sandy has booked me onto a pottery camp with her in October, she and Donna have been twice before and come away with some nice unusual items.
I walked home today, the ankle was pretty sore so very slowly, speeded up to get out of the road as a car turned in and felt a sharp pain in the back of my ankle. Carried on and even cut through to the sea, a different scene today as it was still grey and drizzly.

At the end of the road I saw this very young seagull sat in a garden, I do hope it could fly.

I have used the brown dye this evening, didn't leave it on for nearly as long as recommended and that would seem to have been a wise decision.
They will dry brighter and I think they will be pretty good. My ankle is worrying sore, but hopefully I have just over stretched something and all will be well. Holby later, probably have tissues ready, just in case!

Will start with the sky again.

Funny how it became cloudless as the night wore on, Perhaps the noise from the Tom Jones concert frightened them away.
Tina gave me a lift into town this morning and I had 40 minutes in the pool, on my own again, I could get used to it, will be a shock if I go and it is heaving! There were three people in after I had showered.
I walked into town, sorted out something at the bank and bought a few things we needed at home. I made my way up to the station to collect train tickets for Mike's trip here in August. Also picked up another bus time table for the local bus. Got the bus home and hung the washing up and sat and watched some tennis.
Made a start on the tee shirts, as I have the dyes, salt and elastic bands! Here they are in the yellow dye, forgot to take a photo of the white shirts with the yellow bands dotted about.
Then hanging in the shower once they were rinsed and washed.
I have put more bands on,
Now they are in the orange dye. Have no idea how these will turn out, but I will wear mine regardless! Best go and stir the mix for a bit. May not get the third colour done tomorrow as I will probably be at the studio most of the day.

Great skies again last night.

This morning Darren and I went to the boot sale this morning. The lady didn't have our usual Cumberland sausages so we had German Bratwurst instead, they were very tasty but the rolls weren't nearly as nice as the usual ones. I was struggling a bit, but managed a couple of rows and got some bargains. Three jigsaws for £1.
Another jewellery box, this one is musical and still works, you have to pull out the bottom drawer to get the music, also £1.
A small fan in good condition, the lady explained that it was a continental plug but had an adapted extension lead to go with it. £2
I saw this water container on a stall which will be great for the camping weekend at Just So with Anya and Isobel, that was £2.

Darren helped me get stuff back to the car, I had a little rest then looked at a couple more stalls, got two cookery books, again for £1
Got some oranges for Darren and some cooking apples for a crumble later, then got myself a cup of tea and went back to the car and looked through the books.
Sat down for a while when we got home then went down to get on with dinner and to make the pasta bake that I was too tired to do yesterday. That is now in the freezer as ready meals.
A lot of shows at the open air theatre at the moment, last night I think it was George Benson and it was really loud here, the wind must have been in the right direction (or wrong direction as far as we are concerned). Tonight it is the turn of Tom Jones, who is pretty full on at the best of times, and it is really loud already and it is just sound checks!! I won't be moaning when I go to see Olly Murs next week though!

We have been out most of the day, setting up the tombola for the 'Fun in the Sun' day and then running the stall and helping generally with clearing up etc at the end. It was very quiet to start with but we did get a fair number of people attend by mid afternoon.

At least is was a nice bright day, although some people were chasing their tombola tickets around as the wind was whipping them away! There was live music by a band called 'Simply Brass', who were very good.
The Birds of Prey folk were there and I held a lovely harrier from North America.
Once we were back here Tina and I retired to the settee, we watched The Last Leg on catch up and then Darren went down to get us fish and chips because neither of us were inclined to cook! I struggled a bit with knee and ankle today, but it was a good event and we sold all of out tickets and made a reasonable amount of money.
The sky looks quite dramatic tonight, colourless but interesting.

Casualty in a bit, hopefully not an episode needing tissues, we have had enough of them recently.

I haven't been out walking today, which is just as well as the ankle, or more exactly underneath the heel has been on the verge of being unbearable today. I had strapped it, but took lots of tablets and rested it a bit after rubbing in glucosamine gel. A magazine arrived today which had a piece about heel pain in it, and it seems to confirm that more stretching is in order. So, will step up the exercises and see how it goes.
This morning I made a start on the tombola prizes and labeling until Tina got back with more prizes, then we both got on with it in a very organised fashion. We went to the local cafe for some lunch and then we went off to do some shopping at Lidl. Those two little trips were enough with how my ankle was feeling today/
The post had come when we got home, the five finger shoes I had bid for on Ebay arrived but sadly they don't fit. They are a five but even my little toes wouldn't fit into the spaces. Not to worry, I will put them on Ebay and hopefully get a similar price to the one I paid.
A bit later another package came with the special socks in. They are fine and don't feel at all odd, so hopefully when I get shoes that fit I will be up and away.
While we were in Lidl Tina spotted these cold tea drinks. I wasn't as all sure as one is white tea and one green, both with different flavours added. But I have had the white tea one already and it was really enjoyable.
I posted yesterday that I am painting the large snail for Sandy. The base colours I put on was with the aim of painting it like a common garden snail, but as I was doing it Sandy made the comment that she wouldn't mind it being brightly coloured.  I would prefer to paint it in natural colours, so looked up snails and have printed a few more interesting ones for her to choose from.

Hopefully one of those will be bright enough!
I have taken it easy this afternoon, have emptied and counted the money in a large piggy bank I have. Got a bag of change ready for us to take tomorrow and some I will bank next week.

Yesterday in town I bought a 'decorate your own fairy door' in wood, so many things to decoupage and paint these days. Forgot to take a photo of it before I got the pyrography tool out, but the back is still plain so that will suffice.
Had a little play on the front, it wasn't dear to buy, may put it into the tombola on Saturday as I am  helping Tina at 'Fun in the Sun' at church. Hopefully it will be a little more sunny than it has the last couple of days.
It rained most of the night and was still raining this morning, and really cold as well. I wanted to get a package sent to my sister, the tree house picture, so that she could send it on to her grand-daughter as I don't know her address. So I caught the bus into town and took my swimming bag so that I could go along to the hotel afterwards. A real sea fret had moved in, took a picture of the south bay, you can usually see the cliff, castle etc, but could just about make out the sea today.
I had the pool to myself again for half an hour or so, which was good. No power failure today so the changing went well too. They did say they would rescue my shampoo and conditioner after the 'incident', but no sign of them. I had taken more as I had a feeling I wouldn't be seeing them again.
My ankle has made walking very difficult today, not where the surgery actually was but underneath the heel. I made my way to the studio, via a little cafe where I had a coffee. The studio was full of students and it was hot as they had the kiln on last night, but there was room on one table so I got on with the fairy and finished her. It won't be fired until next week but I am in no rush.

They have a bisque piece of a large snail, it is actually in two pieces, the shell lifts off. Sandy wants it and I have said I will paint it for her. I put a base coat of paint on both parts and will get onto the detail next week.
The fifth bowl was fired, quite a dramatic one, just one left to paint now.
I walked back from the studio, did cut through to the cliff top this end, the fret had lifted a bit but was still hanging about over the bay.
The castle end of the bay was very mysterious looking.

Haven't done a great deal since I got home, I have used some of the strapping on the ankle now and it seems to have helped a bit. I think tomorrow is getting the tombola ready day.

Wednesday, 28 June 2017

At just about 9 pm last night Tina got home and called in to Darren and I to see if we wanted to go and see the sea as it was a bit wild. So we stopped along the north bay, didn't get out, too rough and cold!

Then we stopped briefly at the south bay, which was also unusually rough as well.
Then one for Mike in case he is having withdrawal symptoms about the chimney!
Flood warnings for today were out yesterday, but I doubt we will be going to look as it has been an awful day, raining pretty much all of it, and now gale force winds to add to the unpleasantness. Tina gave me a lift to town as I had a couple of quite large parcels to send off and quite a bit of shopping to get as well. For the second day on the trot I had made a list and left it at home, but remembered pretty well. Decided against the pool today, maybe will attempt another try tomorrow and hope for no power failure.
I bought a slow cooker, calorie conscious, summer recipe book while I was away last weekend. I made a simple risotto in it today and it turned out really well. It was enough for four so I can freeze some portions for another day.
Very tasty, so will be trying other recipes in the book.I sent for some jewellery a little while ago, now the company sends daily offers of watches that are free and you just pay £4.99 postage. Had to send for this one, Tina thinks it is 'bonkers', but in a good way of course, and I like a bit of bonkers so suits me down to the ground!
Miserable evening, curling up on the sofa with a blanket I think!!
