Moncreiffe Island

 Darren had an appointment to get his car MOT done in Perth this morning. The garage is about a mile from the steps at the riverside that lead up to the train track/ walkway across the river to the island in the middle of the Tay river. Anya and I had walked over the path and looked down at the allotments on the island but we didn’t go down and explore. We had a couple of hours so made our way there. We had a walk and came to the golf course after passing the allotments. It is a truly amazing place, so quiet, like being in another world.

You could see the river very close from both sides of the golf course.

We went into the club house and had a drink ( not from the bar!). They have a cafe part as well and welcome visitors.

There was a gallery, well, the sign was still there, but it was closed. There was still this statue outside.

We passed a skate park on the way back to the garage, and the prison.

The car was waiting when we got back, so Darren settled up and we came home.

I haven’t done a great deal since, I did plant three ‘elephant ear’ cuttings that I brought back from the gardening group on Monday. I have had them in water and they look very sad, but hopefully they will liven up.

Have done more to the jigsaw and Darren and Tina have done some too, so the end is nigh!

Worth a try

 Noel the painter is back and getting on again now. This morning, as my leg spasms are getting no better, in fact quite the reverse, I phone the surgery. I was late phoning so thought I would be out of luck, but got an appointment this morning. A very nice doctor who I had not seen before and he listened and asked lots of questions. I told him that I had read that a vitamin B12 deficiency can result in cramps. He agreed that could be a cause but he would send me for blood a blood test and in the meantime he prescribed quinine to be taken at night. In his words it might ‘give me some respite ‘. He sent the prescription straight to the chemist. Took a picture in the park on my way home.

The pharmacist made the prescription straight away so I can start taking them tonight. I went round to see how Noel was doing, he had secured his ladder in a novel way.

He was painting the landing window, it is high!

I finished the jigsaw when I got back.

It did some washing and other chores before getting dinner. I did water the bonsai trees and took a picture of the plants in the bath planter, the yellow nasturtium has lots of flowers.

I took a pic of a straggly tree and the some of the nibbled leaves!

Noel finished the landing window and has masked the French doors but also the outside of the kitchen window. I took a double take when I looked as I didn’t realise you could move the bottom window all the way up. He must have released something as it only usually moves about a foot.

He has managed so far without removing the secondary glazing.

Traitors tonight so best make a drink in readiness!

Happy birthday to me!

Had some lovely cards and presents so a good start to the day. Went round to see Bel as usual and had our usual chat over a cuppa. Some flowers had arrived from Rachel and family which  I arranged after that had had a good drink.

Jean arrived at two as usual and bought me a spinner decoration for the garden. Picture when it is assembled. We were sitting chatting when Tina called up that I had a visitor, so apologised to Jean and headed down. More than one visitor as it turned out, despite being I’ll earlier in the week Tina had organised a surprise tea party, with cakes supplied by Betty’s, so very fancy. I hadn’t twigged at all and it was lovely.

It really was a total surprise.

Then this evening we went to the book reading, neither of us had been to one before. We really enjoyed it and both bought some of the books, I particularly like Sue’s poetry.

Good drive home with a fabulous sky.

Will finish with a Google Photos special which I really like.
