Boot sale and Driffield

Darren and I did go to the boot sale, our cafe was closed but the other one was open, so we had a sausage sandwich, albeit not as nice as usual! A few more stalls this week but we weren’t tempted except o got five of these glass sweet jars for a river and hope Sher will like them. If not they will make great storage jars.

Sorry not a great shot, taken in artificial light. Darren spotted this sign on a van in the car park.

When we got home I spotted this holly bush was just coming into flower.

We had a cup of tea with Tina and then the three of us set off for Driffield. We dropped Darren off at the show ground so that he could look round a radio rally and Tine drove us into Driffield town. We were surprised how busy it was and that a lot of the shops were open. Spotted this sign in a charity shop.

We stopped for coffee and cake, very naughty but nice.

Took a picture of the end of a house!

And bought this jar of hot chocolate because it was so bizarre, tasty quite normal though!
It is green!
We went to a farm shop cafe for some lunch before coming home.
Haven’t done much else, watched the Strictly results after dinner.
No painter coming tomorrow, he will be back on Wednesday.

Walk to Freeport

I had a lie in this morning as I have been feeling very tired this week. Had a shower when I got up and then had a walk up to Freeport. I had a couple of plates that Caroline wanted at the potteries so I took them up, had a chat with Rob and had lunch there. I walked back as well which is more walking than I have done in a bit. This fuchsia bush was lovely.

Polly’s Path is looking a bit autumnal.
I called in to see Sher on my way back and she is going to come round and see me on Monday, I want her to see how my plants and prop squad cuttings are doing.
Tina had got me a lovely bunch of flowers which I arranged when I came home.

Did a bit of the jigsaw with Darren this afternoon and have been watching Strictly this evening.
We are all going to Driffield tomorrow which will make a change.

Visit day

A fairly uneventful day today, I went to see Bel as usual this morning but just stayed a hour as Noel was painting the outside of the windows at the back of the house. My bedroom window was one of them.

I had a phone call from Sal quite early and he said that Carol could come and cut my hair at lunchtime. That was good  as my hair desperately needed thinning out.
Jean came here today and was thrilled when Pandora got on her lap. I will post both photos as I couldn’t decide on one.

Tina wa back for the weekend just after lunch, she is enjoying her time with the nuns.
I have done a bit more to the jigsaw today and must remember to shut the windows that have been painted today.

Evening walk

Today has been fairly like other of last. Noel arrived early but I was already outside clearing the weeds before the bench was put back in front of the porch. He put it back in place before I took an after picture without the bench!

No l has been working at the back of the house today, plenty to keep him busy.
I have sorted my sitting room out as he has finished the window, did some chores and spent quite a while on the jigsaw.
As I have been staying around the house quite a bit I decided to walk to the front this evening and have a pensioners fish and chips. So will finish with several pics whileI was out.

Bye for now, second Traitors episode tonight😊

More painting completed

I was up nice and early to get to the postbox before the painter arrived. He has been working on the porch and the inside of my sitting room window and of Tina’s office. I worked on the jigsaw a bit today, I had lots of things I could be doing but I felt I needed to get out for a walk. One of the tamarix trees is changing colour now before it dies off. They have been pretty successful this year.

I walked to the front and had a chai latte in a cafe on the way back.

This bush hd pretty leaves in the memorial gardens.
This chrysanthemum in the front garden has so may buds it will be a picture when they open.

My window in progress.

I had a very apt present from Mike on the post today. That made me smile.

I bought some printing ink as I had a few blocks that I wanted to try and print. What a mess I got into but they work quite well. I think I will be able to make use of the extra printing as the sheet where I was just trying to use up the ink, was interesting.
A couple of photos from the walled garden, the lovely show in the bath planter and the Michaelmas daisies.

The painter glossed the porch today and with the windows the house looks splendid.

I will finish off with a couple of photos from Tina, one yesterday when she had found a bench with a view. And one of sunset this evening.

Busy doing nothing much!

I was up quite early and went to post a card before eight so that I would be here when Noel arrived to carry on with the painting. I popped out to the local shop twice as I forgot to buy what I went for the first time!

Noel made a start on my sitting room window and Tina’s office window today.

I went along to Botany to see Sher and collected the next cutting to propagate, well three cuttings of three different fittonias. I have just photographed one and also my little badge, she had some made for people who are attempting to root cuttings.

Views through out to be painted windows!

I have spent quite a bit of time today making a start on the boot sale jigsaw.

Looking out of the laundry window I was watching a squirrel. Hi tail is just about visible in front of the pink flowers, he was burying something in one of the pots. Then he went onto the wire chair frame. The zoom is limited on the phone and it was through a double glazed window.

Noel painted the porch today, which wasn’t actually on his list, it really looks good.

He really is doing a good job. He is going to paint the inside of my sitting room and Tina’s office tomorrow.

Bit of variety

Tina left just before eight and I was waiting for Noel, the painter who arrived at 8.15am. He got started and I sorted out washing and then went to the banking hub, with my new earrings of course. Did a bit of shopping and was soon home. I fed the cakes which are darkening nicely now and then spent some time sorting buttons. They had been left since I did the button art class earlier in the year.

I had a walk round the garden and took some photos, some nice autumnal colour at the moment.

This afternoon I went out to clear the bushes and weeds from the front bed by Tina’s office. The first picture wasn’t very good as I didn’t get the window in and that had a bush and weeds over the sill so impossible for Noel to paint it. I must have worked for getting on for three hours and was pretty worn out by the time it was accessible! The garden bin is now filled to the brim so good that it will be emptied tomorrow.

Noel is doing a grand job with the painting, and now he has painted the silos it really makes a difference.

He is starting onTinas office and my sitting room tomorrow so will make sure they are ready in the morning.
