Garden buddies!

I have been working in the garden for most of the day. We ordered paving slabs at the garden centre on Saturday and they were delivered today. I won’t put pictures of roots and digging, that becomes a little boring, it is exceedingly boring for me too! I took pictures of my regular garden buddy, the robin, can decide so you will have to see three.

I moved away from where I was digging as he was twittering away at me and then he was down and not bothered that I was talking to him and taking pictures!
After lunch with Tina I had my phone call from the physio therapist. He asked lots of questions, thinks my problem is related to my back although I don’t have any back pain! He has emailed me some exercises, if these don’t help I will have a phone number that I can contact to go on the waiting list for physio treatment at the cottage hospital.

I went back into the garden and was joined by another feathered friend.

They like those berries as well as any worms I may uncover. I put some bulbs in the ground and also managed to lay a good few stepping stones, so one picture of garden work!

Pretty busy day, but progress made!

boot sale and Burton Constable part three

Now to the house, have changed machines now so can hopefully put quite a few pictures. a great house with fantastic, enthusiastic guides. You start by entering the great hall.

Then into the spectacular dining room.

This next room was designed for exercising, the guide said if you walked up and down it twenty two times it was a mile!

Quite something to be this close to a chair that Queen Victoria had sat on.

A very plush dressing room.

There was some lovely inlaid furniture in one of the rooms.

This statue was made with what looks like a plastic bag over it's head, it represents 'love is blind' and has a nasty looking arrow it its hand!

This looks like a pretty sturdy wheelchair.

The Chinese room was full of dragons.

I was told that the gilding on this piano cost a lot more than the actual piano did!

I'll finish with the entrance hall, bigger than some houses.

Boot sale and Burton Constable part two

Darren and I arrived at Burton Constable before the house and garden were open, the archers get there and set up earlier. I got my ticket at 11 am but the house didn’t open until twelve, so I took a walk down to the lakes and the Capability Brown bridge.

Great to be walking over such an old structure.

The walk wasn’t well marked but the lakes were lovely.

Back near the house one of the exhibits was a whale skeleton, very impressive.

The play area for the children was fun.

Boot sale and Burton Constable part one

This morning Darren and I went off to the boot sale and market as usual, the wind was quite cold and it did start to drizzle a bit, but got some bargains, well, I thought so and then got veg and made a visit to the nutty man. Got this complete set of kitchen canisters for £3, she really didn’t want to take them home!

I also got a lovely little cream jug on a matching saucer but seem not to have taken a picture of it so will add that another day.this glass vase caught my eye and it was only £1.

Will add one out of sequence photo as I got these adorable guys at Burton Constable, but as I hav a lot of other pictures will put the purchases together here. They are made by Jellycat and I get 10% off as I hav signed up to be a friend of the hall.

I will add one more out of sequence picture of Darren trying to unravel a very long piece of rope that had got knotted. He had been at an archery evening and they use ropes to mark area out.

Going to publish this one and then get onto my visit to the hall and grounds.

Short and sweet

Very short entry today, plenty of gardening again and a trip to the garden centre late afternoon to get stuff for the garden!  I hoed round the front garden this morning and also planted a mahonia tree and a few bulbs. This afternoon I cleared leaves from the beds and have two black bags crammed full of them now. I sat in the summer house for a while this afternoon, rally unite cosy in there away from the wind the copper beech is a nice view.

Mainly gardening day

Not a lot to report today, paratroopers from popping to the shop I have spent most of the day in the garden working on the bed near the wall.the other day I dug up a dinosaur! He brushed up pretty well considering how long he had been buried......

Will have to keep him as a memento, any ideas for a suitable name?

Back to the garden, I got on with the second dig and have half filled the pink tuck again. I decided to tread a path for now and although you can’t see I did dig four trenches near the wall and have planted a lot of the bulbs that I dug up while clearing.

It has been a busy day and at least you can see where I have been. Quiet evening planned.

Doctor, trail and poppies

This morning Inwent along to the surgery, didn’t actually see a doctor but the prescribing pharmacist, he is great, I saw him hen I was getting the blood pressure under control. He gave me a good examination, said the pain is more than likely due to the sciatic nerve and not a lot that they can do. But he has given me the number for a self referral physio service and printed off some pages about back pain. I have phoned the service and will have a phone call assessment first next Monday. He did comment that I as very supple and do I exercise, must be all that gardening! I went by the park entrance on my way there and the poppies are b ginning to appear in more places round the town.

I went up and had a cup of hot chocolate while looking at the sea, very grey today.

I walked along the trail to Tesco as Tina had told me they had what food caddies in stock. Haven’t been on the trail for a while, took this photo after passing about ten dog walkers!

I cut along the path by the stream to get to Tesco, it was very muddy but I managed not to slip in!

I got my shopping and another craft magazine with a free gift, an embossing folder and some dies. Made a card with them this afternoon.

This evening Tina and I put the peg crosses out in the garden, they look pretty good.
