Slow start but improving

I had an uncomfortable night, had over eaten and paid the price! So I sat in bed and did my daily puzzles on the iPad and then read a bit more of the Salman Rushdie book Knife. Some more buttons arrived and I sorted most of them but gave up on the tiny ones, I will take them to the workshop in case anyone is keen to use them.
After lunch I did go into the garden, the sunflowers in the cold frame were very leggy and needed to go into the ground. I had planted a dozen directly into the ground but none of them germinated, the ones in the cold frame were from the same packed so it must have been due to the strange weather.
There were weeds in the bed but also some self sewn marigolds, so I hoed round them.
I am not sure they will survive the wind and rain, if it comes, as they are so spindly.
I went into the front garden and managed to get twenty of the plants I bought yesterday into the front bed.
I did do some strimming and cleared the worst of the weeds in the walled garden.
I took a few random photos in the garden.
We had fish and chips for tea which was tasty.
It occurred to me the the wooden owl Darren got me on Saturday would be a good shape for a button picture. I used some of the small buttons but it would work with others.
Having a quiet evening now.

  1. Sounds like a good start to the day. I find it hard to stay in bed once I’m awake. I really should try harder 🙂
You must be almost overrun with buttons now. Hopefully you’ll find other uses for them once the class is done. Maybe more button classes 😊
How do you know if a sunflower is “leggy”? I mean they’re pretty much like that anyway. Hopefully now you have them planted they’ll thicken up a bit and stand firm in the wind!
You got a bit done in the garden today. At least you got some plants in and a bit of hoeing done. I hope you’ve not overdone it today and made the leg worse.
You do have a nice garden for pics. Always lots of colour and nice backdrops.
The button owl looks really good. I bet someone will want to do that 😊

  2. Hopefully the sunflowers will thicken, time will tell.
Some of the areas of the garden are bad, we cannot get to the large gate now, a suppose the bonus is no one can get in that way either.
Just need to make some cards with images on and about organised,
