Really grey, miserable and wet start to the day. Mike and I went for a drive out to Snainton woodworking supplies. I got some pen blanks and may hunt out my whittling knife! Also got three little wooden shields which I may paint and decorate sometime! The people in there must have had a mega row, the man had a serious 'sense of humour bypass' and the lady was abrupt and rude! The trouble is they have great stock and there aren't many places like it around. I left Mike with her and went outside to look at the horses!
We then went to Irton Garden Centre where we had the most ridiculous cream scones. I should have taken a picture, the cream must have been over two inches thick! Very naughty and very tasty. We looked at the plants, didn't buy anything, but took lots of photos, I liked the daisy.
Then plenty of plants with rain on, this shiny red one was impressive.
I loved this one, so many drips on this flower.
I saw this bedraggled bee on a plant, I thought it was dead at first, but it did start to move as it dried off a bit.
Last one at the garden centre, a succulent this time.
Then off to The Mere, we walked right round the lake. The rain had stopped by then and it was even trying to brighten up. Liked this shop of a cygnet.
Then a swan doing some serious preening and quite oblivious of me watching and fascinated.
The leaves are turning and falling, I thought they looked attractive near the bridge on the lake.
We came home for a while and made a fuss of Colonel for bit. Then we took a walk down to the front. The castle was in a low cloud, which was a bonus.
We walked back via the open air theatre and into Peasholm Park and on into the glen. The water was higher because of the rain and it was bubbling along nicely.
Lastly from the walk, one of my favourite plants, mahonia, was looking fabulous in it's autumn coat.
We came home and made dinner indoors. Telefest later, I like Holby and we both like New Tricks. The very last one tonight which is a bit sad!
Love the monomial plant, colours are fantastic, one of John Osbornes favourites also. The glen looks amazing with the water running down. Shame about the un-happy couple may be they need a break from each other.
ReplyDeleteSorry did not correct before posting mahonia plants
ReplyDeleteThey need something, that's for sure! x
DeleteI'd say the cream in the scones was nearer to three inches thick, seriously! Tasted very good though. I'll definitely need to walk a few extra miles next week!
ReplyDeleteHas been a good or bad food week depending on your viewpoint!!
