Yesterday evening there was an unusual plane trail in the sky, looked almost vertical from where I was sitting.
Today I nipped into town to sort out the wrong order delivery and then went to the auction house. Got a bidding number and had another look round. Darren joined me for the start. I bid on a couple of things that I didn't get. There was a box of beads and broken jewellery and other odds and ends. There was a lady there bidding for several lots with beads and jewellery, and that box went for about £65. I was only going to get some supplies for the bead group so wasn't intending to go very high. But I decided to bid on the Beatrix Potter figures and got them at a better price than I thought they would go for. Also bit on a lot of playing cards and notebooks for Darren which I got and he is very pleased with. When I got home I put the figures on the walnut book rack that I got a few weeks ago. I had two empty shelves as I was still deciding what to display on there.
I put the Peter Rabbit figure that I made out of Plaster of Paris and painted years ago on the top shelf. It has surprisingly survived my many moves!

Very cold this morning but it has been a glorious day, lots of sunshine and not too much wind. I walked into and through town, ventured off to the Spa bridge. The sun on the water was absolutely glistening, but difficult to catch with my camera as facing the sun. I tried to shield the sun but couldn't see what I was taking!
The sea was really calm today, have been used to very choppy seas of late.
I called in to see the ladies at the studio and returned the cinema pass. as Sandy is going to see the Exotic Marigold film with her friend this evening. Also called in to see Sandra who is still ra-arranging her shop and it is looking lovely. The bulbs are coming through in abundance in the front garden, I did plant an awful lot. One of the daffodils is almost there.

Went to the craft class last night and we covered a terracotta pot wit squares of material and then made a felt flower, wired with a button at the centre.

At the button class yesterday I was sorting buttons and found one which really looked like it should be made into an owl. Last night, after the class, I made an owl brooch with it. Luckily I took a photo, and of the flower above, because today I managed to lose them!! I had put them both in an envelope and had it in my handbag, I also had a couple of carrier bags to go to the charity shop. Sandra talked to me as I went past the craft shop and I showed her the brooch. Went on my way, dropped the bags off at the charity shop and headed down to the sewing group at the community centre. Went to get the envelope out and I didn't have it in my bag. I had obviously put it in one of the charity bags! Rushed off to retrieve it but my bags had been thrown in a massive pile and it was hopeless!! I really did love my little brooch........
We made felt flowers at the community centre, Lucy comes up with some nice ideas.
This afternoon Tina and I went to see the second Exotic Marigold film at the local cinema. Very enjoyable. Going to go and do a bit of shopping with Darren this evening as he is home at a reasonable time.

Walked into town twice today and managed 10 minutes on the exercise bike! Off for another short walk later to the craft class. I wanted to get some moisturiser in Debenhams as they had a discount offer. They didn't have any but have ordered it in so I have still made use of the discount. I called in at the studio but is was a 'Diddy Doodlers' morning, young mums in with their tots, so I didn't hang around. Had a nice chat with Sandra in the craft shop instead. Walked home and dropped some stuff off. It was a lovely day today, the wind has dropped and we don't get many wind free days up in the north!! The bay looked calm and you could see a lot of the fields above the cliffs today.
Then off for the button class. 5 ladies today so a good little group. I worked with Norma again, as she needs a bit of support and she finished her butterfly.
Dianne is getting on well with her peacock feather, it will look striking when it is finished.
Linda was sorting through the grey buttons, she has done a silhouette of a man and is going to make it Mr Grey, so she is hoping she will find fifty shades of grey in the button box! I am off to the craft group with Sandra later so it is feet up for a while,

This morning was bright but a bitterly cold wind still with us. I decided to use the rail card and take a short trip to the village of Hunmanby. About a 20 minute train ride. The station is a little was from the town, and is unmanned and derelict. Passed a great looking stone arch which was the entrance to some holiday cottages.
They had a pretty cool name too!
Lots of snowdrops in the village, Spring is certainly in the air, fingers crossed anyway.
Loved the name of this cottage!
The church was attractive.
There were some horses near the station when I headed back.
Back in Scarborough I did get caught in a shower, but walk down through the town before going home. They have some really good window displays in Boyes.
I did use the bike and managed 7 minutes this morning, going to take a while to get twenty minutes in one go under my belt!

Monday, 23 February 2015

This morning I did some washing, used the bike for a few minutes and pottered about before going to the dentist. Got there and they had no record of my appointment!! I had definitely registered on line so came home to check. Tried again and booked an appointment for this afternoon, remembering to confirm the booking this time!! There were snowdrops about to open in a garden up the road.
Sandy from the ceramics studio had invited me along to lunch at a garden centre today with her and a friend called Cate. A drive into the country and a nice lunch and Irton Garden Centre was lovely, plenty of interesting stuff to look at. Took a pic of Sandy and Cate.
And Sandy took one of me!
When I got back Tina dropped me off at Sainsbury's to do a bit of shopping. By the time I was home and unpacked it was almost time to head off to the dentist - again! Was okay this time, and all is well with the teeth I have left, had them cleaned which I always hate, but needs doing. She took xrays as well and no cavities discovered. On the way back the sky was looking good again.

Really enjoyed Fascinating Aida last night, risque and very funny! Darren was our taxi driver so a good evening. This morning I watched The Voice, which Darren had recorded for me then had a walk round the park and on the sea front. Saw these cute ducks today, usually Canada geese, mallards, seagulls and pigeons.
Darren, Tina and I went up to the Victoria cafe which has a really good dinner deal. 3 courses for £5.50. A good meal with good portions, in fact I was really full afterwards! Darren and Tina headed home and I went off to the ceramic studio, didn't paint, but it was quiet so had a good chat and a couple of drinks with Sandy. Helped unload the kiln too. The 'experimental' fox I painted, the one that was still brown when I painted it was done and it actually turned out really well.
The little girl/doll was fired as well, I have taken a picture of it along with the one already on display. Mine is the pastel one!

Saturday, 21 February 2015

Last night we went to see Mr Grey, it was okay and not too embarrassing, but not much of a story, won't bother with any follow ups! This morning I started on making the pizza box look like a presentation box, it took me several hours and I had a few hitches along the way. Before I started I took a walk down the front and had a cuppa looking at the sea, there were surfers getting ready for a lesson. It was bright, but had been frosty, so pretty cold!
So, back to the box!
I used decoupatch papers to cover the outside and the sides inside the box. I also padded and lined the base and lid as it was going to have a fairly precious place inside. More about that in a bit.
The covered box, must remember not to offer again! Darren took me up to the studio and they did seem very pleased with it. The plate was painted by Donna for Remembrance day, but was spotted by the Royal British Legion and they are going to auction it at their fundraising event. Donna and Sandy donated the plate but wanted something better than a plain pizza box to present it in. The plate is stunning.
From the studio I walked into town and down to the south bay.
I then decided to walk the rest of the way home along the front and both bays. Passed the castle en route.
Saw more surfers in action.
The sky looked good back walking through the park when nearly home.

And finally, especially for you Anya, as you were so impressed, Darren collected the exercise bike for me and it is now in the tv room!!

Friday, 20 February 2015

This morning I headed into town fairly early with a list of shops to visit. Mostly those that had offers like 3 for 2 and buy one get one half price or extra loyalty points. Went via the post office, given them a fair bit of trade this week. I walked along Bar Street to go and look over the South Bay. The tide was out, usually my photos have been with the tide in.
The photo looks monochrome, but that was because the sun was so bright, I did try to shield the camera with my hand! Quite like the effect though. I went in a cliff top cafe and they are having an extension done. It was a strange arrangement and I felt it must be at the top of a disused cliff tram. I walked onto the Spa bridge and indeed the extension is at the top of a lift. The views will be spectacular when it is finished. The extra tables are in the two jutting features painted pink.

Managed to take a nice clear picture of the castle and battlements.

I called in at the studio and tried to talk them out of having me at the photo shoot later, but they insisted I be there. So I walked home with my shopping, had lunch and then went back. The photo was the handing over of the commemorative plate Donna had painted in memory on the WW1 conflict. That may be in the paper next week. They were needing a presentation box for the plate and have a plain pizza type box. So I said I would cover it and headed off into town to see if I could buy suitable decopatch paper. Found some eventually and will cover the box over the weekend.
I was quite achy by the time I got home. Oh yes, forgot to mention that I went into the charity shop and paid for the exercise bike. I am hoping Darren will collect it for me tomorrow! Any bets on how often I will use it, and where I will put it for that matter!!
Off out with the girls tonight to see the Mr Grey film!! Haven't read the books, not have I wanted to really, but we are going to York and it should be a giggle, albeit an slightly embarrassing one!!

Thursday, 19 February 2015

Last night I went to the craft class, it was a nautical theme and I made an anchor template before I went as the templates made for us were going to be a simple yacht shape. This morning was rainy but I headed off to the sewing class at the community centre. Four children there today as well as the usual ladies, so busy and noisy! I finished off my picture from last night and then we made felt flowers, which were quite attractive. I have photographed them together.
I called in at the studio and they asked me to do a sample coaster tile that would be suitable for Mothering Sunday (put the right title Tina!)
It had stopped raining by the time I came home. I was tempted  by an exercise bike at the charity shop, but I have had them before and not used them much, and there is the question of space. But my knee pain isn't at bad as it was and I had thought I might yet get an electric bike!

Wednesday, 18 February 2015

Bright again today, but a very chilly wind which has got stronger! I went to the post office and then to ceramic studio where I finished painting a sample doll/little girl. Forgot to take a picture although I had remembered the camera. I will take a picture when I call in tomorrow and maybe one of the rather 'loud' examples they have on show at the moment. The sky was striking as I walked to the community centre when I left the studio.
Two of the ladies from the button class brought their finished work in to show me, one a tree frog and the other a humming bird, and both lovely.

Off out again tonight to the craft class, so may prepare some templates as I am not sure I will want to use the ones that Sandra has done for us. Should have mentioned there was a new lady at the class today and she seemed to enjoy it and said she will come again.

Tuesday, 17 February 2015

Bright and sunny today, but still a cold wind. Had an easy morning and Anya sorted her packing. Darren walked with us into town to go and see the ringing of the 'Pancake Bell' and then to see the traditional Shrove Tuesday pancake races. The mayor was ringing the bell and was interviewed by Scarborough tv, which can be found on line apparently.
Then. once the town crier had announced it, she rang the bell on North Street.
Forgot to put the one of Anya and Isobel walking into town, so will put them out of order!
The races were very well supported so I didn't get to see much, I manned the bags, but did have a quick turn nearer the front to get a picture.
Isobel sat on Anya's shoulders to see the races and Darren stood with them, I got a few back views!
Got a front view when the races finished!
There was a stilt man talking to children and making balloons, so Anya, still with Isobel on her shoulders, went along to meet him.
We went and had lunch at 'The Secret Garden' cafe and then made our way to the station for Anya and Isobel to catch their replacement bus to York. When they were safely on the coach I went to Sainsbury's to do a bit of shopping. Then walked home, called in at a dentist who is taking new patients at the moment. I have to apply and register on line so will do that tonight. My ankles are complaining about the amount of walking, so a quiet evening now, the sky was a pretty pastel earlier.
Anya is home safely, sounds like it was a smooth journey and she arrived when she expected to.
