Try getting into Hull on the bus!

I needed to top up supplies from Lush and The Body Shop so thought I would get myself into Hull and see if I could manage to get to one, maybe even the two shops. I made my way to Lush in the city centre and got my conditioner and some bath bombs for Tina. Then I went to Waterstones and had a snack, drink and sit down. I did buy a book, absolutely charming, I hadn’t really heard of moon flowers but now intend ti get some seeds and see if I can grew some.
The Body Shop is in St. Stephens so back past the bus station and into the centre. My knee was quite sore and I almost talked myself out of it, but had time before the bus home so pushed on. Got a bottle of water and some paracetamol and headed back to the bus station. Sat in the recliner for a while when I go home.
Tina went out to post some letters and called in to have a look at Sher’s new shop. She bought me this quite small shell that had been decoupaged. Very pretty.
Not going to watch Strictly this evening as I am going to the church with Tina to listen to a Male Voice Choir. Thank goodness for catch up!

Staying indoors weather

Really strong winds today and a fair bit of rain. This morning I got on with the jigsaw and decided to try and get the white borders round the sections in place.
I did some washing and a couple of chores, and after lunch carried on and actually got it finished. It was quite tricky but a really lovely image.
For a change I made a batch of cheese scones. The gadget I bought a few weeks ago, the table top grater/shredder was brilliant for grating the cheese!
I had a little play with one of the kits ai got yesterday. I think it will look quite attractive when it is all green foil.
I am going to atttempt sleeping in the bed tonight as the wind was making the fire in the dining room make the weirdest noises during the night!

Couple of short trips

This morning after Ringtons had been Tina drove us up to Freeport. We had a light breakfast and then went to The Works, I didn’t have my loyalty card with me yesterday but they print you a receipt so that you can get any points added on. Ended up buying some more stuff, did buy three of these kits but one was for a gift so not showing it. Good deal if you bought three.
When the rain stopped I did go down to feed the birds. It made me ridiculously happy today, thanks to the rollator, and seeing a great tit and a blue tit on the feeders. Takes a while from them to use things in different places. Tina did driv back via the sea, but it was drizzling again so didn’t go down onto the promenade
The knee has been quite sore today so I did do quite a bit to the jigsaw, but it is very slow progress.
This afternoon the cats had to go for their jabs. As luck would have it they were both curled up on the living room and between us we got them into the carriers with very little trouble. But the cats chorus on the journey let us know they weren’t happy, and poor Pandora did pay a penny and was very miserable. But they were fine when we got home and gave them some of their new favourite food!
Tina has meetings this evening so
Darren and I had tea in the car by the sea, I had pensioners fish and chips and he had sausages and chips. The cloudy sky was quite pretty on the way home but not so good when I went out to take a picture.
Bel and ai have decided to to meet up tomorrow as the weather forecast is pretty awful and Jean is coming here to see me.
Bit of Shakespeare and Hathaway tonight I think, maybe ai will even stay awake!

More exercise for pain relief?

Good luck with that you might say, but nothing else seems to be working! I did go into the garden and feed the birds today and even went and sat on the swing for a short while. The garden rollator has made it easier to manage. This lovely cyclamen is so pretty.
We have a sweet chestnut tree but the fruits drop in the rough are. Found a couple of discarded cases, so the animals are making the most of a different snack.
I was prescribed pain killers early last week and went to the chemist and they still cannot get them. The doctor has requested a specific brand so they cannot then dispense a substitute. So phoned the surgery and they will get that sorted, maybe!
As I managed the short trip decided to catch the bus to Freeport this afternoon, didn’t walk all the way round, bought a new jigsaw at The Works and had a cuppa, then a quick look in a clothes shop. Was nice to get out for a short while.
I also got a book, but have a furry friend on my lap, so maybe a photo of that tomorrow.
I did get some washing done as well, so definitely a little more active.
The jigsaw that I am doing is progressing very slowly. Maybe a photo of that tomorrow as well.

Tree surgeons were busy!

I haven’t been out today except for in the garden, not a good knee day today and had a bit of a nasty spasm with it in the night. The tree lads were here early and have removed one dead and one split tree and pruned the two apple trees back. Also a laurel hedge needed attention along the fence, I used to hang the bird feeders on one of the apple trees, no longer an option, so Tina help me by getting the old swing frame down and I am utilising that!
The other apple tree was a big sprawling thing, I had no idea that wall behind went up so high!
The laurel looks much tidier now nd that stump was where the dead ash tree was.
One of the laburnum trees had split so that was remove, will be much better light for those plants now, you couldn’t see that section of wall before.
I made up a soup kit that we bought from the shop over the road before it closed down. Fed the cakes, probably one or two more now and ai can think about the marzipan! Decided to try and get the white area round the kingfisher done, then pink flowers. It is proving to be a challenging puzzle and the pieces don’t hold together too well.
Sher called in to see me after work for a quick visit, which was lovely. She is very busy with the two shops and organising the Hornsea collective.
It will probably be another quiet day tomorrow.

Maybe a little too much walking!

I wanted to get to the post office so did set it to walk there this morning. Called in the chemists on my way and the medication is still not in, but that isn’t so bad as I have stopped it at the moment, partly because I was about to run out and also because the more I took the worse the leg seemed to be! I did make it to the post office without a sit down and then up to the se front. Took some photos, and of some ridiculously hardy surfers! The last one I was pleased with because of colouring and composition!
Took this photo coming back through the memorial garden, the nickname for the plant is appropriately Hot Lips!
After lunch I wrote a couple of letters and decided to take them to the nearest postbox and then call in and see Sher. This short walk pushed the limits of the leg and I had to have a rest before returning! Sher wasn’t at the shop as the window was being replaced. This lovely plant was in the church yard.
I did so some clearing in the front garden with the lopper and strimmer, but not too much. Then spent quite a while trying to get some pieces together on the jigsaw which is proving to be much trickier than I thought it would,
I keep nodding off when sitting, I think the lack of sleep and discomfort are taking their toll so will be retiring quite early again tonight,

Bitterly cold boot sale!

The weather has really changed and it was really cold this morning, should have take scarf and gloves! May seem strange but I was on the lookout for  second rollator. Talking to Darren the other day and saying perhaps I should think about taking the rollator through to the garden and see if ai could manage to feed the birds. He suggested getting another one for use in the garden and that seemed like a very good idea. We had seen then reasonably priced when we have been looking around. We spotted one near where we have out sandwich but I did manage to walk a few rows to see if there was anything else. I didn’t so we I bought it on the was back to the car.
Quite a bargain at £30 I think.
Darren bought me some bits on a 10 p stall.
We were almost out of milk so ai did make my way to the nearest shop, but on the way. I decided to move the logs that the tree surgeon had left on the lawn. Tina had half jokingly said I could put them round the lawn! So guess what I did, may discourage some grass driving!
I tried taking the new rollator down the garden, I collected some feeders and took them all down so that ai could fill them and bring them back without too much going backwards man’s forwards.
Took this photo of a butterfly, couldn’t manage to catch it without casting a shadow.
I have started another jigsaw. Darren helped me get the edge sorted. Then I had sorted pieces for the kingfisher so got on with that.
A 1000 piece one again so will do it downstairs in the dining room.
