I'll keep it short today, hasn't been the best of days and then the tennis was rubbish to crown it all!! I thought I would see if I could walk to town and back, haven't managed it is a while so took the bus pass in case! One of the walls down the road is getting covered with little purple flowers, or maybe they are weeds, but pretty either way!
I tried to walk without limping to stretch my ankle, but the result was that I upset the knee on the other leg so that it was really bad. Did take my mind off the ankle a bit, always a bright side! I had a drink and sit down in town and then decided I would attempt the walk back as well. I made it, but my knee has been really sore this afternoon, so had me feet up high with extra cushions while I watched the less that enjoyable tennis semi finals.Started sorting some materials to made ipad cases, well, I have a request for one and thought I would make a couple more.
Making the first one I managed to assemble it wrongly and had to unpick it. Much as I hate doing it I did undo it and sewed it correctly.
Carried on and haven't long finished all three, apart from adding the buttons. They all have a different fabric inside.
It's gone 9 pm, should clear away the debris but have a Lynley on at the moment. The pain in my knee seems to have subsided a bit thank goodness.

I must have taken thirty or more pictures of the sky last night, so if you are not into skies scroll down quickly, but I am only posting four!!
Tina dropped me off at the pool this morning and I swam in the ladies only session. That was not bad, not laned and not too many people to avoid. I walked back through the park and had a cup of tea at the cafe there. The park was lovely as always.
The rest of the day has been taken up with tennis, doctor and shopping with Tina, we met Darren from work and had tea together. The doctor was nice enough, and did examine my ankle, but has just said take pain killers four times a day and use some gel and keep on with the exercises. So pretty much the same old story, he did say it can take a long time, wasn't kidding there was he? Watching Murray at the moment, and I wonder how Wales will get on tonight.

Success! Yesterday the physio said I should go back to the doctor to see about getting different pain killers. I called in This morning and the next general appointment was on the 20th July. She asked if it was more urgent than that, and I said it had been on going to over seven months now but I was told to come back by the physio, but I suppose not really urgent. Said she would see if they had any cancellations and I have an appointment tomorrow. Result! Tina dropped me off in town, as I had a couple of bits to get and she wanted me to get some grapes for the Not Home Alone leaving get together for Martyn and Joyce. The shop I was going to buy them at was closed, so I went to M & S. they had a half price sale so ended up buying myself a top while I was there. I came home to get changed and ready to go to the 'do' with Tina. Took a photo of the tamarix in the tub in the front garden, well, more accurately the part of it where I had to lop one of the branches to remove it from under the shed when it landed on it! I sealed the wound and now it is sprouting very healthily, perhaps I will have a beautiful tamarix, full of flower, next May.
The lunch for Joyce and Martyn was very enjoyable, good company and a very nice spread. It was interesting listening to Martyn answer questions about his time as a minister. Gail had done a beautiful flower arrangement for Joyce.
Gail also lent me a 'presentation cracker' that she had bought so that I could perhaps make some that would be similar. Not sure that I will, but it is very lovely.
Have been watching some tennis and having a generally lazy time since I got home!

Yesterday evening when Tina got it she said the sky was lovely and took Darren and me out for a drive round the bays, and a photo stop of course.
The sky just didn't look real with those stripes, very striking. We had a drink and a little wander on the beach to round off the trip. This morning I decided that I had to get out and do something with the front lawn, but took a picture of the lovely thistle I put in a pot a few weeks ago.
Also put a few small plants in the fairy garden and made paths with the 'glow in the dark' pebbles. I will let you know if they work, as they are supposed to shine for a while once they have been out in the sunlight.
I tried to take a picture of a smallish spider in the back garden but the wind was just blowing it around way too much. When I got out the front there was a really tiny spider on the handle of the hoe, managed to get a reasonable picture of it considering how small it was.
I managed to tidy up the front lawn with the edging shears, it grows in peculiar tufts which the hand mower cannot deal with. I also put several small piles of Allbran around the garden to see if it really does attract the slugs and gets them to overeat! Darren and I went out for a bit of lunch and I got some compost which be brought home for me. I made my way into town from there, and after a little bit of shopping I caught the bus to the hospital. The appointment was not a great success, I have some very simple, not too strenuous exercises to do but the physio is very concerned as she does not want to cause me more pain than I already have. Going again in three weeks. This bright flower bed was near the station, very attractive.
Watching Murray at the moment and it is looking good at just now.

This morning we decided not to go to the boot sale, we have had quite a lot of rain this week and Darren has a nasty cough. So I checked the timetable for the pool and decided to go and try a general swimming session. But first a couple of pictures from last night.
I left for the pool at about 8.45 am. The Teasmaid cafe has reopened and is now dual purpose eatery.
I walked through the park on my way, very still and quiet at that time on a Sunday morning.
I went up the really steep hill to the pool today, was out of breath at the top but didn't stop to rest on the way, which is an improvement I think! There were two guys waiting outside, so I asked them whether it got busy and also talked about how I really don't like the laned sessions Another man turned up, then it was evident they all worked at the pool. The timetable I had was wrong and they didn't actually open until 9.30 am today. They let me wait in the cafe area and I was looking at the pool. There were covers on then both when I arrived.
Watching the covers come off was interesting, the large cover on the mail pool was taken up onto a roller electronically.
On the smaller pool they rolled them off manually. Then the pool was almost ready for action.
They did some other chores, then they let me in, for the first eight lengths I swam I was the only person in the pool! Then a family of four came in but I just swam up and down at the edge. By the time I was getting out a couple more families had arrived. When I was changed one of the guys showed me the gym, quite small but it has the basic equipment in there. My membership includes the gym, so I will ask the physio tomorrow if using the exercise bike there is a good idea. My ankle and knee are a bit sore today, but thought I would take a walk down to the front, I haven't been doing that for a while now. I had a drink sitting on the wall and then had a walk on the beach with my shoes off, which was really nice. The tide was well out and I walked to the waters edge, but no paddling this time. Took a couple of pics, was lucky with the second one.
Had a pretty lazy afternoon, watch a Frost and some tennis. Then cooked up a couple of the Hello Fresh meals for out tea. Will write a couple of letters this evening. Hospital again tomorrow.

That picture had the swan boat in, the next one if of a swan that came over to see if I was going to feed it and even stretched through the railings to see if my feet looked tasty. Then off it went when it realised my bag didn't have food in it.

This morning we all set off at about 9 am to go to the church to help with the setting up of .Fun in the Sun'! Not that there was much sun on offer today. But apart from one little shower the rain stayed away. The guys getting the sound system erected.
I had a small table at the church entrance, very windy and cold and everything kept flying off the table! Sadly didn't sell anything but lots of families headed inside the church where there were lots of activities on for the children. The police car was parked near where I sat and they were letting children sit in it and set off the sirens, which was very popular.
I packed my stuff away early and then had a bit of a wander round. The owl sanctuary were there and letting you take pics holding them for a £2 donation. So I have to go and 'get the bird'!
I walked home and shirked helping with the clearing away, sorry Tina, the rain was still threatening as I walked along the cliff top.
Now it is all finished the sun is shining, but still very windy. I bought this great pot on the bric a brac stall.
And here with a red tea light lit inside.
My legs have been quite sore today so have sat with my legs up half watching tennis (and half dozing) with a blanket round my shoulders as I am still feeling a bit chilled! No Casualty tonight, so may have to do some tidying up!

Very late entry today! I have had a busy and productive day, and been out this evening so lots to write about. I left here about 8.40 am to go to the swimming pool. My ankle was sore, and I am trying to cut down on using the support. Walked up there okay and the pool wasn't too crowded. It was still the dreaded lane swimming when I arrived but only about four of us in our lane so manageable. Then they removed the ropes. Definitely managed 22 lengths, maybe a couple more that that, slow but sure, but hopefully now will go more regularly. Walked home and had a short rest, then went down to make scones for the church fete tomorrow. Used a recipe from that really old book I bought a few weeks ago and they turned out really well. Darren got home as I was finishing and came up and helped me get the new printer set up. I know I am being very shallow, but I liked the look of this one!
We printed one of yesterdays pictures on basic printer paper and it was pretty good.
I had cut out the fabric for draw string bags, I carried on making them today but they take a surprisingly long time. I do have six made for tomorrow though.
I ordered some pebbles last week that glow in the dark, I had though they were actual pebbles that had been treated. They are not and they are really quite funky. May get them out on some trays tomorrow. They need a couple of hours daylight to glow for a while at night.
Loot a bit like jelly beans!! I bought an old fashioned scrap book in The Works this week, though I would keep my 70th birthday cards in it. Decided to cover it with some of the attractive material I have.
I have made up three book marks, got the laminator out or storage. These were copied on the new printer from the originals I wrote and they copied really well, again on basic paper.
This evening Sandy and I went to a curry and Bollywood night in aid of a ministry that helps children in India. There was a presentation and a quiz which was fun, the food was fantastic and then three children, two very young ones entertained us with some Bollywood dancing.
Sandy drove round the bays, as like me she loves the clouds and skies.
All in all a good day. Off to bed now!
