Weather wise the day has not been good, it started raining as I made my way to the bus stop this morning and hasn’t let up since. I was meeting Mike in Peterborough and we had a coffee once I got there. I had passed Paddington on my way through Queensgate!
Then we went to the cathedral to ‘The Longest Yarn - A Thread Through History’. An exhibition of the events of the Second World War recorded it knitting and crochet. I took about 100 photos so will be selective in my posting. The were long panels covered in poppies, flags etc, all knitted and several post pox toppers and then 80 cabinets of different episodes of the war with incredible detail and ingenuity. Also some dressed dummies, it was really quite mind blowing. So I will endeavour to pick out a selection and not get too carried away! There were many more, eighty in all. As an extra bonus the dinosaur was still there.
Back to Anya’s tonight and heading back to Scotland tomorrow.

Shame about the weather today, but it’s been a really nice day. I really enjoyed the exhibition in the cathedral. Absolutely amazing what they did with knitting! Such ingenuity. I really need to keep up with exhibitions they have on there and go to more. I do understand how hard you must have found it to decide on pics for tonight. I was shocked how many display cabinets they had there, and every one was good. Plus all the other stuff too and the dinosaur 😊
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the fish and chips we had for lunch. It’s been a while since I’ve had them. All in all I’ve really enjoyed the day. It was really nice to catch up with you. Just a shame you are so far away now ☹️
Hopefully neither of us will end up with a cold after get wet today!
Your week down here has gone so quickly. It’ll be nice for you to get home though. It’s just a shame it’s such a long journey ahead of you tomorrow.
Enjoy a pleasant evening with Anya and family this evening.
It was a great day despite the weather. It was hard to choose which of the exhibits to use, as you say they were all really good.
ReplyDeleteComing for a week worked well so will hopefully have at least one more trip down this year. I spent more time with everybody this time which was much better.
Feeling weary now, but hopefully we won’t get colds!
