I have just finished reading The Lady in the Van by Alan Bennett, I had seen the film but the book was better in some ways, and Alan Bennett seems such a lovely man. So I decided to read some more of his work and went across to the library. Which was open this morning. They didn’t have anything by him but are ordering a couple for me.
I started working on the jigsaw this morning, not the easiest one but good fun except when Pandora lays on it!
After lunch I carried on and have finished it. Now I can do the extra puzzles, the first two are using the letters on the racks to find a word that when placed on the board scores a certain amount, so they should get me thinking! The other challenge is to link all the images around the board to one of the answers on the board. So extra fun for your money! After the family call we went shopping to Perth, it is not so warm but still very humid here. Well, we didn’t go straight away as we had to work out getting my Wimbledon code onto my phone so I had to get an app. Had a bit of a headache by the time that was done!
The pains were a less when we went shopping, I think because I have reqlly upped the pills!
Darren is on his way up to stay here tomorrow which is great.

I’ve never watched that film, but I’d love to. I think Maggie Smith is a great actress. I must look on Prime to see if it’s on there. I hope you enjoy his other books when they arrive.
ReplyDeleteI saw the first pic of the jigsaw and thought “it’ll be a while yet then” and then saw the next one 😊 I’m sure you’ll soon crack those too.
Shopping isn’t any fun at all in this weather. Although grocery shopping isn’t really fun anyway I suppose. I hope you got some special bits for Darren? 😊
This weather gives you headaches without having to stress over apps!
What would we do without painkillers. I know you’re not keen on taking them unless it’s absolutely necessary, so I can imagine how bad it must have been before you started upping them more.
What time are you expecting Darren to get there tomorrow? It’ll be so good for him to finally be up there permanently. All that driving backwards and forwards isn’t good for anyone. Try not to spoil him too much though 😂
The film is based on the truth, he cruelly did have her living in a van on his drive for fifteen years. She actually was remarkable.
ReplyDeleteI spent quite some time on that jigsaw, but it was enjoyable.
We are looking forward to being a proper family again. We will take. Little while to adjust as it has been 5 moths.
We will have a Darren dinner nd I will make a cake in the morning..
A Darren dinner sounds good. I'm guessing there won't be many vegetables included 😊
