Travelling to Scotland

 We had breakfast together this morning and just after eight Tina and I set off for Scotland and Darren set off for home.when we had been on the road for a while he sent a message saying he was home along with this picture. 

Pandora was obviously pleased that someone had come home as she has never been left alone in the house overnight before.

We got to Gretna services and by then the car was down to 20% and Tina had to drive to three different sets of chargers to get one actually working! The weather was rainy on and off and never the best photos from a moving car. There was a very faint rainbow quite often which I tried to catch. There are two ‘arty’ ones, I had to lean at a funny angle in the car park to catch the crow on a sign, you can’t really tell form the blurry wet pic that it is a crow but I will post it anyway! So now a row of photos.

We arrived at Tina’s aunts house and were made very welcome, and have had a lovely meal. I don’t think either of us will be late to bed. One last pic of the view from my room.

Quiet morning then trip to Mirfield

 I did quite a bit more jigsaw yesterday evening and finished it this morning. There is a piece missing in the photo but I did find it.

Went to Tesco with Darren and then we went to the potteries and had lunch. We set off for Mirfield to join Tina for the evening. We had a walk round the grounds after we had had a cuppa with the monks.

We are having pizza in a bit and I have a tv so can watch Strictly.

Visit day

 Have done a bit more to the jigsaw today and am convinced one piece is missing! I often think that though.

I went to see Bel this morning, she was going to the hairdresser for a perm this afternoon. Her hair is quite thin now and it gives it some body. Her cleaner isn’t coming anymore as she isn’t in good health. Bel say she hoovered half the lounge and had to have a rest before finishing. Hardly surprising as she is ninety three.

After lunch I set out to visit Jean via the sea front and called in for my prescription T the chemist on the way. Just photos of the sea today.

Jean was her usual self, she still has quite a bit of pain but manages to do her duties at church again now.

No plans for this evening but a bit of packing. Darren and I are going to Mirfield tomorrow afternoon to have the evening with Tina and Tina and I are going up to Scotland on Sunday to see her aunt for a couple of days.

A walk and frustrating afternoon

 The weather wasn’t overly bright this morning, but it wasn’t raining so I decided to go for a walk. I walked towards the front but went onto the trail start before I got there. Took a few photos along the way.

I finished off the sky on the jigsaw so it is taking shape gradually.

I decided to shorten some trousers that I bought a few weeks ago, measured them again another pair and then tacked them to try them on. They are wide trousers but they taper slightly. I tried machining one pair but mad a real bodge of it.I haven’t felt my brightest today so I put the machine away and tidied up and will try again another time!

Out and about

 I had a leisurely start to the day as I didn’t have to be dressed and get the gate open. I thought I would take a walk up to Freeport and pop in and see Rob at the potteries. When I got there Sarah and David were there having a late breakfast. It was quiet there today but Rob expects it will be having during half term next week. I did a bit of shopping in Pound Stretcher then walked home starting at Polly’s Path. Always nice but the path rather than the trees looked autumnal.

There is a new sign at the end of the path, I wonder if there had been an accident as it it the road to the cemetery.

As I mentioned, thought I would add a picture of the cemetery.

Passed the tree on the way home.

I had some lunch when I got home and then wrote a letter. Walked to the post office to catch the late collection and then went and looked at the sea.

Spotted this dark cloud in a lovely blue sky on the way home.

That was well over the step target today, hope I don’t pay for it tomorrow, so did a bit to the jigsaw and found the missing edge piece!

Traitors is on later, who will they have killed this time?

Goodbye Noel

 Noel checked that all the windows would open this morning and I asked if he would paint the garage doors for us yesterday and he got on with that this morning. I didn’t take a before picture but they were in a state as you will see from the amount of preparation was required then he undercoated and painted. Looks a treat now,

It will be strange not being up and ready for him in the morning, I can have a lie in and eat my breakfast in my pyjamas if I want to! He really did a splendid job and never left any mess.

When I nipped to the shops I took a picture of the mahonia which has grown quite large and has a mass of flowers appearing, it will soon be smelling heavenly.

I have done some washing and nipped out to have a quick chat with Sher but have also spent a bit of time on the jigsaw.

Nothing else to add so will finish with another photo sent by Tina.

Dental check up

 This morning I was up reasonably early, moved stuff around in my bedroom so that Noel the painter could get to my window! I set off to catch the bus to Beverley, the first part of getting to the dentist. Then I got on the bus into Hull. I was way too early so I got off well before my stop and had a walk along the Beverley Road. I love the streets lined with trees which are popular in Hull.

I was about half an hour early at the dentist but went in and registered and the waiting room was quite full.  I knew one of the ladies who lives in Hornsea, she was there with a friend as she was having a tooth out. Her friend said she could give me a lift back but my appointment was too late and she needed to get away. Then a couple in the waiting room said they would take me home and would wait for me. They were also from Hornsea! Henry, my new dentist was very friendly, I had my examination and X-rays and all was well. He said I had a little gum disease around a single tooth, the one that is glued to another one because it was loose. But he said my tooth brushing was fine no real build up of plaque and to keep doing what I am doing. So another appointment in six months. In the end I was ready before the couple and they dropped me off at my door. So home much earlier than I thought.

I checked in with Noel who was getting on well then got myself something to eat and a drink, which I was ready for.

We had a letter through the door for the Methodist church so I went and dropped it at the right place, called in at the banking hub and did a bit of shopping. Another picture of the chrysanthemum as it is fully in bloom now.

And a bit of a rainbow as I got back home.

When Noel left I got my furniture back in place as he had finished my window. He has sped along today and hopes to finish tomorrow. He will be in the dining room tomorrow which he refers to as the jigsaw room! Talking of the jigsaw it is progressing slowly
