Busy but nothing to show for it!

Apart from going to the shop early this morning I have been indoors getting on with household chores. Did get some washing done and dried out on the line, maybe not many more days I will manage that now. I have remembered to take a photo of the new shopping trolley, actually used it this morning.

I did have a break from clearing and sorting, have never broken down so many boxes, have almost filled the just emptied recycling bins! Anyway, I have never used the chalk pens before and they take a bit of getting used to. Also, although you can wipe off mistakes you can still see the mark of what was there, so obviously I need to endeavour to get it all right first time! Have done the circles on both sides of the A board.

A couple of deliveries today, Tina had ordered a sack of duck and swan food and also a ton of gravel for the drive. That is planted on the lawn in the corner of the front garden.

Did go and see Sarah and David for a while this evening and caught up with the local gossip!

May use the leg exerciser for a while tonight.

Boot sale bargains and safe travels Tina

I felt a bit better when I got up, one day of the miseries was enough! Darren and I went along to the boot sale as usual, quit busy again although we think they had left wider gaps between the rows. I had told Tina about this sign, which made me laugh and she said I must take a photo! So I did and hope no one is too offended. There are masses of dogs taken along to the sales.

I got several 50p bargains, including the very fancy bag!

All thirty of the cards were still in the box and six different images.

The other two items we about a fiver for the two, the leg exerciser is new and the marquetry unopened.

I did about an hour in the front garden this afternoon, putting in a few plants and weeding the back of the large bed. 

I have decided I will keep the jigsaw and have put a first coat of varnish on it, thinking to put paper underneath it before I applied the varnish!

We had dinner at one today so that Tina could set off on her long drive to Scotland. She stopped to take a picture of lovely scenery on the way and then sent a picture of the very generous welcome pack at the accommodation.

Going to try a new comedy drama on tv a bit later.

Bit of an off day!

I haven’t done a great deal today, didn’t want to get up and then that mood continued! 

When the volunteers were here weeding the drive Jacky also came and freshened up the bench. It had flaked badly and was looking a mess. Jacky rubbed it down and looks a lot better now.

Last night I was up late as I spent all evening working on the round jigsaw. I had thought there were pieces missing, but in the end it was all there. Darren bought it for 50p At the boot sale.

My shoulder was aching as well as the knees today, I have tried a shoulder support and a posture corrector but neither really helped. After lunch I thought I would go to the chemist and see if I could buy one of the pain relief patches. There are three chemists in Hornsea, but I had forgotten the strange opening times here and they were all closed! I carried on walking as it was nice and got to the sea front, bit chilly down by the sea but a beautiful afternoon.

I sat out on the swing for a while this afternoon and Pandora came and kept me company for a while.

I have watered both the gardens this evening, no rain forecast for a while. The small pampas looks like it will have at least seven grasses this year, the larger one also looks like it may get grasses too.

Will get to bed earlier tonight and hopefully wake up in better humour tomorrow!

Scarborough mere and shopping

Tina had her day off today and we went to Scarborough. To the garage where Tina bought her car first to see how it is doing and to discuss a possible change at some point. We called in at Morrison’s for a cuppa and to use the facilities! Then off to the mere, a favourite place for both of us. We had some such food and the swans particularly were very hungry today.a few pictures of this beautiful place and it’s inhabitants.

We drove into the town and parked in the car park above Wilkinsons. First purchase was a shopping trolley, forgot to take a picture of the new one, will try to remember tomorrow. We had a wander around the centre and called in at the Grape Tree and got some yummy, healthy treats. We walked up to the Brunswick Centre and both got some clothes in the sale at Debenhams. Had lunch there too. Should have mentioned the car park, last time the lifts weren’t working but this time they were. We found a place high up so I was able to take a photo of the town.

We went to Wilkinson’s and I got a sack of peanuts for the birds which we forced into the new shopping trolley with some difficulty! Then we were off to 

Sainsbury’s, we had planned on having a cup of tea before we shopped but their cafe was closed. We had a list and were quite organised, although I did get some treats from Tina in the sale area. The two small ones are photo holders.

Also a big candle for my new tea light holder, it is perfect and I can light it without taking it apart!

I sat down for a bit and Pandora decided to sit on me, doesn’t do that often. She really grumbled at me when I decided to move!

May do a bit to the challenging jigsaw in a bit!

Wow, sixty years married!

Today was a special one as Marjorie and Tommy had a renewal of vows service to celebrate their diamond wedding.just a small congregation so plenty of room and all masked up. Marjorie and Tommy took theirs off, as did Tina while the vows were taken. It was lovely.

Then a get together with friends in Lucien’s. They are a lovely couple and no way would you think they are old enough to have been married for sixty years.

I needed to return the wrist splints that were too small so took a slow walk to the post office and then up to the sea. A lovely day although the wind made it cooler. The larger splints arrived today and I only ordered them yesterday, so that was great service.

The volunteers have done a fantastic job clearing the drive. They also tidied one of the beds that are at the front of the house. I went out  and put some bulbs in and a few pansies. The bed was bone dry so I gave it a really good soaking.

When I was walking back from the sea front I bought a candle light holder at the second hand shop. Not second hand, he had ordered these in. I have had it burning this evening and it is really pretty.

I have spent ages this evening working on the round puzzle, which is really difficult so not that much progress so far!

Designing and gardening!

Quite a different morning. A group are starting a cafe in the town for people to come in and have a cuppa and chat, or sit quietly, but somewhere peaceful to call in. I suggested the name ‘Chill and Chat Cafe’ and that is what they are going with. Tina asked me to design a logo which of course I will be drawing on the A board for them to put outside. Did a couple of round pencil sketches, well, I had done one and Tina suggested that I could make it like a jammy dodger biscuit! Then a bit later ai did a couple of coloured versions so that they can see if either of them is suitable.

This afternoon I have spent a lot of time in the garden again, finished tidying the big bed and then split the cowslips and some primulas and planted them out. Also managed to get a dozen of the bedding plants in that we bought at the weekend, took a picture on the bed I was working on, did the whole thing right up to the gate in the walled garden.

I got the hose out and watered the back garden well before I got my tea and called it a day. This evening I have started to do a bit more to the puzzle. Not big but quite tricky and not helped by the fact that the board I am using has bits of paper stuck on it! I will listen to a story and pack up to watch the final bust of Des later.

Quite a busy day

I decided to get started on tidying up the flower beds in the back garden today, Tina helped me put on the posture support as it seems to help with the pain in my shoulder a bit. I didn’t take photos of the beds, may take one when I get now plants in. Worked for over an hour and then was a bit achy so took a break. Did take pictures of the autumn crocuses which are quite stunning now.

Also managed to get a butterfly sitting on the Michaelmas daisies.

I did listen to a short story and made a start on the edge of the round jigsaw before lunch. The post came and the new wrist supports I ordered, the extra large ones arrived. Very quick service and they looked great, one problem, not big enough, again......have tried to contact the company but no reply just yet. Tina had said she needed to go to Aldbrough again if I wanted to go along. I got the drawing from yesterday framed as she was seeing the vicar of the church.

Tina had to go out for a while so I did some baking. I had decided to make cheese scones for the volunteers that are helping to tidy the drive. They are worried about sharing so I have bagged up bags with two buttered scones in each ready for the morning.

Made the buns as well in case someone doesn’t like cheese scones.

I went into the garden again for a bit while Tina was at a meeting, then we went off to Aldbrough again. Tina said that the vicar was delighted with the drawing. We called at Mappleton on the way back, so a grew pictures from there. The farmer was ploughing so plenty of gulls enjoying the pickings.

Pretty skies tonight. We decided on take away for tea as it was seven by this time. The chippies were all closed except Sullivan’s and the queue there was too long so Tina got chicken and chips. It was dark by the time we had eaten so we put the outside light on so I could collect up the tools and put the fox food out. Got the scones buttered and packed before heading upstairs. Watching the second part of Des now.
