Yesterday evening I sat and embroidered a label for the quilt I made at the class. It seems that putting labels on them in the norm and they actually sell sheets of them for the purpose.
This morning I felt a little better, although didn't sleep that well and was up at 6 am. Didn't want to disturb Darren and Tina so I sat and wrote some letters. About 9 am I went and posted the letters then spent about an hour and a half tidying up the front garden and putting in some plants. I cut down all the dead daffodil leaves so it looks much tidier now. I also love the 'ladybird poppy'.
I have become a bit of an auction addict since I came here and today they had what they called a bedside table but I think it was probably a stand for a bowl and jug as it has a marble top and is quite high. I need to organise my cooking area and it looked like it would be a perfect fit. I won the bid and here it is at it arrived home.
And after a little tlc.
It is late 19th century so I will make sure not to damage it at all.
Eurovision tonight, I usually watch it but rarely pick the winner!

This morning I went up to the studio and Donna had just received a message that her little girl wasn't well again and her husband was going to pick her up from nursery. She had the studio set up for 'Diddy Doodlers', where she reads a story to toddlers and then they do some painting. They have juice and biscuits and the mums a tea or coffee. Sandy had glazing to do so I said I would take the group. That went fairly well and everyone seemed happy, even got to use the till properly! I will  post a picture from yesterday of the resident seagull on the chimney opposite my room!
I went into town again this afternoon as I had an appointment. I called in to view the auction lots for tomorrow and also bought some wadding for the table cover. I took a slow walk along to look at the south bay, took a picture looking over the spa bridge.
Another including the tramway and the Grand Hotel.
It has been a beautiful day although the wind is getting up again now. I am a bit hot and bothered and tired so no plans for this evening.

Did a bit of gardening this morning and Darren mowed the lawns. Had a new flower appeared in the front, I planted quite a few bulbs and didn't remember where or what.
I pruned the bonsai trees a bit and in one of the planters a little viola had self sown and it looked sweet with the trees now in fine leaf.
I collected a package with a crazy birthday present in on Monday and it didn't appear to work, so I thought it had been damaged in transit.
Then I was told that you need to take the banana! If you want to see it in action follow this link.

This afternoon Darren and I caught the bus to Dean's Garden Centre, I needed bird seed and some plants and we arranged to meet Tina there on her way back from Hull. We all then went off to collect Tina's car, but Darren's is still not ready! They have given him a courtesy car now as it may be another week before he has his back. Quilting class this evening if I can muster the energy to go!

This morning I went to the post office to get the passport form checked. All was well and very quickly done, so just wait for it to arrive now. Donna had sent a text to see if I could cover at the studio for a while as she needed to get her little girl, Amy, to the doctors and Sandy was taking them. So I made my way there and while I was on my own I had another go with the Sharpie pens. This time I sponged colour over the plate and then drew leaves with the pen. Hopefully it will turn out to be a purple plate with white leaves but only time will tell!
I then went off to the button group. Sue continued making her paper flowers to go onto a large canvas and Norma assembled a paper bag puppet onto a canvas and did button grass.
I apologise to Tina for the next picture, haven't put a sunset on since she commented on how many I do post, but liked this photo I took yesterday evening.
Yesterday evening I sewed the first panel of the table cover I am going to make. So far, so good.
Darren was home early today so the three of us went out for tea in town which was a nice surprise.

Tuesday, 19 May 2015

This morning I went out fairly early to make an appointment at the post office to get my passport application checked. Going for 10 am tomorrow. I need to get the passport sorted before I renew the ESTA document. I called in at the studio to see Sandy, would have help Sandra at the craft shop if she had been around but wasn't sorry to just come home as I felt tired today. Did detour to look at the sea, and it was a really 'moody' sky today, fabulous.

The garden at the end of the road has multi coloured bluebells, which look lovely.
This afternoon, as I wasn't feeling too good I decided to go and start trying to work out the triangle squares for the table cover. Got on fairly well and felt much better for spending a few hours really concentrating!
We had a thunder storm earlier this afternoon and not long ago we had May hail!

Monday, 18 May 2015

This morning it was cold, wet and windy. I did a bit of washing and went through some papers and sorted drawers. Also found my ID photos as I need to send for a new passport. I went to town to collect a package from the post office and collect a passport form. The pound shop had canvasses in again so bought some as we get through a lot at the button class. I made my way to the Monday class, had lunch with Sue and Diane as they go to both classes on a Monday. Sue finished her stags head and had done a very attractive heart on a board she had painted last week.
Diane is getting on really well with her very attractive canvas.
There is a postcard size competition running in Scarborough to raise money for the local hospice. Sue worked on her entry today, they have to measure 6 x 4 inches.
Nothing much planned for this evening, although I am in the mood to get the cupboards sorted! The sun is shining now so a lovely evening.

Sunday, 17 May 2015

This morning I was a bit later up than usual and took my time getting ready. Went out about 10.45 am, had got my sketching stuff ready and made a flask of coffee. I had decided to get the open top bus to the spa end and go to the esplanade via the cliff lift then take a walk heading away from the town. It was showery, but more sunshine that showers and the wind was not too bad. Lovely flower bed at the top of the cliff as I started the walk.
There was a bed of forget me nots, blue, white and pink, very pretty.
The clock tower on the cliff top is quite impressive. All on it's own it really stands out.
I walked a little way, so took a view further along and when I was making my way down to the shore.
Passed these steps on the way back to the spa, might try them another day!!
The pirate ship is out again now for the season I imagine.
This door was boarded with quite a funky panel.
I did stop mid walk to do a sketch, I was pleased I made the effort to go out today.
Been doing a bit of sorting this afternoon, filling the recycling bin up!
