Another very quiet and pretty inactive day, I am feeling a little better so fingers crossed I can begin to get in holiday mood soon! Just pottered in the house doing a few jobs and trying to de-wax an altar cloth without too great success.Yesterday evening I went to the church with Tina, she had a wedding rehearsal and then choir, I took my sketch book and sat and did a sketch. I did welcome a few people who had wandered in as the church doors were open. One of the elderly ladies in the choir loved the sketch so I am thinking of giving it to her.
I tried another biblical figure this afternoon, I think I need to get some finer tools and better clay, or maybe I just cannot do it!!

Went out with Tina for a while this afternoon, Darren wanted to use a voucher in Holland and Barratt and it ran out today, he wouldn't be home in time. We had a look in the sales and I actually bought a simple long dress to take away with me!

I did take a sunset picture of the glowing skyline, but not any later when we went out to see if we could see the meteor shower. We did see a few, but it was very dark and I haven't got the right camera for that sort of photograph.
Another quiet morning, apart from a doctors appointment. Watch as oldish film at lunch time, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor, really enjoyed it. Then Tina took me out for a drive to Ravenscar, lovely view when we were almost there, and a place to stop for photos!

Ravenscar itself was fascinating, I bought a little booklet to find out more.
The tearoom is there, near what was the railway station.
What a lovely place for the cows to graze!
There was this very unusual sign.
Going to the church with Tina this evening to just be there while she conducts a wedding rehearsal. I will take my sketch book.

A nice quiet start again today and then Darren took me into town so that I could go for my eye test. That went fine, my prescription has changed slightly but the guy said I didn't need new glasses and they will recall me again in a year, as much to see if the cataracts are developing. I took a steady walk home, got a really nice plate platter for Christmas from a shop that is closing down.
So cute, you see blue tits and robins on lots of things, but this has my personal favourite, a wren. I sat down for a few minutes in Scarborough's 'Trafalgar Square', I hadn't walked past it before but I will go there again, a lovely little place.
I have had a quiet afternoon, I spent quite a while going through my 'important papers', a lot of the contents were being kept unnecessarily so I had plenty of shredding to do. Then I started playing with the air drying clay to see if I could make the biblical figures that Tina's friend wants. This may just be a challenge too far!
I am watching the program showing the problems at the Scarborough Pound shops!

Not a lot to report today, didn't feel well this morning so stayed in not doing a lot! Went with Tina to Hull this afternoon to lend support as she has been having trouble with her eyes again. She had several different tests but on the whole the news was good. The Eye Hospital building is light and airy. One of the windows looked pink, but it doesn't show in the picture.
We went to St Stephen's, did some shopping and waited for Darren to join us, he was working in Hull today. The food hall at St Stephen's is quite unusual.
It is at the top of the escalator. We did call at Hobbycraft before we went to the hospital and I got some clay modelling tools.

The head fell off the figure last night, so better luck next time! Fab sky, just as well I took these as I charged the battery and then took the camera out without it. But forgot to take pictures as well!!

Tina dropped me in town this morning so that I could make my way to Sainsbury's. Got worn out anyway so was very grateful to miss the hill on the way out! Really didn't feel great and had to make myself go to community centre, so have now decided not to take the class until September and hope I am on the mend by then. the ladies have permission to carry on without me so won't be letting amyone down. I took the camera, but as I mentioned, hadn't put the battery back in, when I got home I realised that I hadn't taken pics of their lovely work today (wouldn't have been able to if I had remembered). We have had a heavy shower this afternoon, the first rain here in quite a while. Took a picture of the street with shining roofs after the rain!

Sunday, 9 August 2015

Darren and I went out fairly early as there had been a boot sale advertised on Dean Road. But, although there were signs in the car park nothing was going on there! We walked round the block and had a cup of tea in a cafe on Castle Road. Lots of shops and cafes open today that are usually closed on Sunday because of the four day cricket match in town. I sorted my washing out and then took a slow walk up to the church where Tina was presiding at her first Eucharist at St Mary's. On the way I took a photo of the castle,
and the very blue line along the horizon!
The service was lovely, great to see Tina doing such a great job. Had tea and biscuits after and chatted to a few people. Took a picture across the church grounds.
On the way back I tried to get a picture of the whole bay, didn't quite manage it, but like the photo anyway!
There was a small tortoiseshell butterfly a way from the fence, it is actually the sea in the background, but it is not obvious.
Back home I have been lazy, but have tried to made one of the apostle figures. I haven't got the right tools or cocktail sticks, but it is sort of like the example!

I finished of the miniature vestments last night and today have mailed them off, so fingers crossed they are well received.
After I had sent off the package I made my way to the hairdressers, have had my hair cut a bit shorter this time and quite like it. After lunch at home I made my way up to the church via the cliff top as there was a Victorian Tea Party today. The sea was really calm today, quite unusual as the wind usually whips up the waves.
A jet skier was enjoying the calm sea.
Leaving quite a trail, it was lovely to see the sea so calm.
It was always very clear, as you could see the rocks beneath the surface from the cliff top.
The church tea party was pleasant and the weather kind. I bought a few bits and had tea and cake of course. Cooking another Hello Fresh meal this evening.
