Today was dry and bright, and although our drive was still bad everywhere else was a lot better. We hadn’t had a trip out of town since before Christmas and we’re glad to get away from sorting and packing for a bit. We went to Beverley and had a nice breakfast and then looked at a few shops. I took a photo to show we had been out!
I got a pair of sparkly Crocs at a charity shop, they are the real thing, not imitation.Thursday, 8 January 2026

Not going out!
Darren messaged us this morning saying the drive was bad and to be careful. The drive had become an ice path so going out was off the cards.
I have been plodding on today, I had an expensive unit next to my fridge, it was supposed to be a bin cupboard but it never really held the bags properly. I emptied it as it was a great space for putting things out of the way. I had to move another cabinet out of the way to get it out. Hopefully I will find someone who would like it and is empty and clean now. There was a lot of stuff fallen down the back as I used to pile things on top of it as well! Then I set about emptying a couple of cardboard storage units. One I had used for sketching stuff and the other for sewing stuff. They are both empty now and ready for new owners.Tuesday, 6 January 2026
Scary walk to the shop and packing.
A no photo day today although I may find one in the memories. I wanted some bin liners and other bits so decided to go to the local shops. Not far at all but it took me quite a time as the pavements are compacted ice with a sprinkling of snow in some places. I pt would have been nice to go and see Sher but I won’t be walking anywhere until the ice has gone. Not lovely to be anytime soon, it has rained a bit this evening and now it is freezing! I did message Sher and she wants the cabinets I have emptied so that is good.
This afternoon I have now got all the pictures down except one and have some of them packed. Everywhere is chaos and not looking too homely anymore but with four weeks to go it needs to be that way!
Tina is a little better today and has been able to drink and eat a bit, but still far from well. Hopefully she will be fully on the mend tomorrow.
Will see if I can find. Picture or two and will try and do better tomorrow.

Still snowy and poorly Tina
I had written some letters yesterday evening and wanted to get them posted. I was up early and took a photo from the laundry room window.
The pavements were covered in snow so I walked very carefully and got there and back safely. This one of shadows on the snow!We did have a little more snow this afternoon and there is no sign of a thaw, so looks like I will be staying in gain tomorrow.

More of the same and stronger than I look!
I was up a bit later this morning but had my usual chat with Anya and tidied up in the kitchen. The caddy bin was smelling so he to go to the top of the front garden to empty it, I walked in the thar tyre trucks!
The. I rearranged the boxes on the landing so that the auction people can get to the blanket box which they are taking. This is just some of them! When Darren was back from the gym I got lunch and cutting the cheese I broke the metal knife!Saturday, 3 January 2026
The snow has arrived.
Not a lot to write today, it sorted to show this morning and has continued on and off throughout the day. I haven’t been out at all but have been taking pictures down and removing the nails and picture hooks. I have also packed another three boxes I think so have kept busy. I will now post pictures of a show filled day.

Usual visits and cheeky new jumper
I was up later this morning, feeling way too tired of late! Went across to see Bel who said she is struggling, but that is her usual comment these days. She had another fall, didn’t hurt herself but couldn’t get up. Whe managed to get across to the phone shuffling along on her bottom to get the neighbours to come round and assist. It probably shook her up a bit although no damage done. She had been knitting a jumper before Christmas, told me she had finished it. I asked if she wa pleased with it but she said no, and she would probably take it to the charity shop. So I said I needed warm jumpers for Christmas and she was delighted to give it to me. I put it on straight away and am still seeing it now!
I has home for a couple of hours before heading for Jeans, so got a couple of boxes packed and loaded the car up with Tina and despatched them to the charity shop. It was cold but a bright day and the sea was worth walking for. It was very lively today. Lots of pics now!Had a good chat with Jean, who is still struggling with back pain but otherwise fairly cheerful. Terry gave me a lift home just as we were getting a flurry of snow. It has stopped now so not a lot left.
